"In my view, these two nations are inextricably linked in a common insurgency that crosses the border between them," he told lawmakers."

"We can hunt down and kill extremists as they cross over the border from Pakistan ... but until we work more closely with the Pakistani government to eliminate the safe havens from which they operate, the enemy will only keep coming."-

Oh God! Another Mission Accomplished for Bush & McCain. Today, Pakistan banned all foreign forces from the country after US air force bombed villages and killed hundreds of men, women and children INSIDE PAKISTAN.

Has this Bush, McCain and US any morals left in this world? They have demonstrated to the world that they are a bunch of ruthless and merciless murderers.-

I don't totally agree with your statement. The Afghan war is the war that we are justified being in. The Taliban's support for Al Qaeda gave Osama Bin Ladin the platform from which he launched his attacks on the US and other nations. In this case they started the killing. Where we went wrong was turning our attention away from this conflict and going into Iraq for which we had no justification. We should have finished the job in Afghanistan and left Iraq alone. If we had done that we may not be seeing the increased killing that's going on there now.

they don't have any morals Nikki....they went to Iraq for oil and they went to Afghanistan for a pipeline which is in the south. 9/11 was a big cover-up job done by the Pentagon's "black ops" teams. So Bush, Cheney and the rest have actually murdered 3,500 from the towers, 4,000 combat troops and at least 200,000 Iraqis.

Obama knew a long time ago and said it. McBush ignored Afghanistan just like his buddy Bush until it bit his ass. Now both have to revise their position to conform to the realization that our neglected war in Afghanistan is being lost because of our limited resources are being spent in Iraq.

Yup. The republicon strategy in Afghanistan hasn't worked since 2002, and they are just now figuring this out??? With a leader like this, though, it's easy to understand.

Occupying Afghanistan isn't the answer. The Taliban and Al Queada have moved into Pakistan and that being a sovereign nation with nuclear weapons is not a place we can just march into. doing so would just turn more Muslims against us.

Afghanistan is perhaps the country that suffered most in consequence of this war. Nevertheless the military actions weren´t called by name for a long time, it is nothing but a war what´s taking place down there. In Iraq, as everybody knows now, there were neither Weapons of Mass Destruction nor Taliban or Al Queda. Afghanistan came into focus, but was rather seen as something like a "second stage". Bearing in mind how long the search for the terrorists in the area of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border has already taken, it seems quite obvious to me, that Taliban and Al Quaeda have moved on to Pakistan. I think, the new strategy mustn´t be an enlargement of military strength in Afghanistan, but a better cooperation with the Pakistan government to finally end up with this war.

Your all unneccessarily worried. Palin is going to talk to the Taliban. Palin and the Taliban together will agree on what the most important issues in life are.
Reply
Palin will talk with them about home schooling, no sex ed, pro life no matter what the circumstances, an abstract form of science. She is going to go hunting with them and have mooseburgers.
The Taliban may offer her a clerical position in their government, like the women's rights cabinet. -

bush & company couldn't have hosed up these two wars more, if they'd tried.

there are some basic principles of successful warfare that have been completely ignored. 2500 years ago Sun Tzu wrote the "Art of War", outlining these basic principles. one of the principles is the importance of accurate intelligence. another is the importance of having full support of the people waging the war. yet another is the necessity of occupying the "high ground", including the moral high ground. most importantly, Sun Tzu warns against opening a second front (or a second war) before you've mopped up the first.
everyone of these basic principles has been ignored. did they really think "shock & awe" could compensate?

McSame says I would rather be president that capture bin Laden.
Reply
Claiming that he ALONE knows how to capture bin Laden, he has not told anyone and is PROMISING that if you elect him he will capture bin Laden.
If INDEED that is the truth, perhaps some waterboarding would loosen his tongue, or cause him some caution in wagging it. -

I think BL is probably dead. I am saying this cause several yrs ago I saw a documentary where PM Musharraf's personal Doctor said he treated BL for kindney dialysis. The interview was with english subtitles. I don't know how long someone survives with a kidney probl. But we haven't heard from him for awhile & he seems like the type who would continue to make his presence known to the world.
Reply
The current Taliban leader in the mountain areas between Afghanistan & Pakistan is Baitullah Mahsood. I don't think Bush ever tried to go after him either, Bush likes to target civilians from high above with shock & awe campaigns. -

When are we going to learn that once we win the initial war, we must turn the nation building efforts over to those trained for "Nation Building." Our troops are not suited for that. We are trained to fight wars and to train others to fight wars. Nation building includes all kinds of things such as finance, industrial operations, agricultural efforts, infrastructural building (roads, bridges, ultilities, water ways, land uses, etc.), cultural developments, political developments, etc. Our troops are not designed to handle these things. When we stay on after the war is won, we get bogged down in tribal relationships and all kinds of other things for which we're il-suited to handle.

The folks we brought in to help in the "nation building" was culled from a cadre of hand picked applicants that "correctly" answered the question: what is you position of Roe vs Wade?

No knowledge of the local languages, no passport, no experience in international travel or even geography. Oh yes, they were accompanied by 75,000 Baptist Bibles to impress the local muslim clerics.
What do you expect from an administration where the chief didn't know that there was more than one type of arab or muslim.
