005.049 the verse don't tell to punish.. it says it is Allah's purpose to punish them. It is not telling anyone to act like Allah.

There are specific punishments that can be implemented by state told in the Quran and Hadiths none of them ask those to be forced upon non muslims.

The last sentence clearly says those instructions are till the end of the world.
Don't that says something.... Muslims are not supposed interfere in the matters of other peoples religion but Muslims are supposed protect other people of different beliefs. Tell me buddy, is that what is going on in Arab countries these days. By praying 5 times or 50 times or fasting for 6 months straight.. one will not become a true muslim. First one should be a true muslim by heart. Those who follow Wahhabism and its derivatives won't understand what Islam is. They can only look at Islam from a material perspective which makes them believe that Isalm can be imposed upon everyone else, which Allah and his prophet never intended to do.-
