Matt Damon on the absurdity of Sarah Palin as V.P. »
Posted By heaveho 1 year, 1 month ago in NewsThank you, Matt Damon for putting a white, hot light on the very thing my friends and I have been talking about with regard to John McCain naming Sarah Palin as the U.S. Vice President on the Republican ticket. This AP video clip Matt Damon speaks directly to how absurd this unknown woman is on the Republican ticket. This isn' t change, this is making a farce out our political process. Please post comments so we raise the level on this issue. The scary thing or at least one of them is, people are buying into her folksy ********.

That mental midget,Matt Damon should stop and take his finger out of his arse. (he can then smell his finger, I'm sure that would float his little duckie.)
Reply
Hearing what he had to say about our next Vice President is an insult to every intelligent woman in America.
He should stick to being the one dimensional actor that he has become and stop making these facetious comments. By running his mouth, America now knows, that along with being a bad actor, he's also a moron.-

you obviously didn't research the facts - her ex-brother-in-law was found guilty of tasering his 10 year old stepson - I bet he was trying to protect his Mom that the creep was beating. with the good ole boy network he got his hand slapped and had a suspension - no wonder he wants this quieted. the truth may come out for all. in most police dept's he would have been fired. good for Sarah Palin to act on this.

What Palin actually said:
Reply
"I'm pro-contraception, and I think kids who may not hear about it at home should hear about it in other avenues. So I am not anti-contraception. But, yeah, abstinence is another alternative that should be discussed with kids. I don't have a problem with that," Palin said. Hers is hardly an extreme point of view in America today. -

I am concerned about the level of your response. You say that Damon's opinion is an insult to every intelligent woman in America. Yet your entire message has absolutely no rational or intelligent argument in it. You insult the writer, you use foul language, and you add absolutely nothing to the political debate. Yours is a message full of anger and feeling, no doubt sincere, but a message delivered at the lowest level, where it will get the reception it deserves.

Matt Damon once again proves the stupidity of Hollywood. Matt, news flash, politics is the real world and not the fantasy world you portray i all of your movies. You are good act acting (especialy now like an idiot) what don't you stick to that and leave the important things such as politics to the grown-ups. Palin is Commaner and Chief of the Alaskan National Guard, which right away gives her moer ecxperience than Obama, and Biden combined. Let's talk about your buddy Biden (we'll get to Obama and his anbti-Amercan wife in a second) here is a man that is qouted as saying that "It is too bad that our soldiers survived getting shot at by Uzis in the Iraq war only to come home and be killed by them here!" Okay newsflash for the idiot Biden, Uzi is an Israeli weapon! They would not sell their weapons to and Arab country. Biden is a man who may be commmander and chief if Obama were to drop dead, and he doesn't even know what he is talking about on weapons issues. Oh that's right we need to get back to the anti-Americanism od Obama and his wife. Where was the lovely Mrs. Obama today? She sure wasn't with her husband while he was faking his respect for the victims of 9/11. I guess she feels too important for the American people. She would make a great First Lady! Ha! Now with Obama, why does soemoen have to tell him he needs to wear a pin of the American flag in support of the troops fighting and dying for our freedom? Why does someone have to tell him he should either salute the flag or at least have his hand over his heart during our national anthem? Why does someone have to tell him that as a possible canidate for the President that he should go visit the troops and see first hand about the situation over in Iraq? Why, because he is selfish, only thinks about himself, and is very anti-American much like his wife, feeling that America owes hims something and is here to serve him. If somehow is is able to fool the American people and become president, who will tell him how to be a president? His wife or his expastor who hates America as much as him? So in toerh words Matt, grow up, and stick to what you are best at, acting in the fantasy world.

Unfortunately, Damon is exhibiting common sense. His fear is justified - that her nomination was a political move, and irresponsible considering her lack of experience and McCain's age.

I get it Marine (if that's what you really are), you make your decisions based on a minutia, rather than reality. You're looking hard for anything to hate Obama for, because you can't make your decisions stick by actually thinking.
Reply
There are plenty of Republicans in Hollywood, guess you are OK with them. They can speak and agree with you, but Damon can't. Just what are you fighting for, anyway, Marine (if that's what you really are)?
You denigrate Biden's experience, yet you support a guy who is worried about the Iraq-Pakistan border? (Try to find it, betcha' can't) And you support a VP candidate who has looked into banning books (real American, she is).
Obama anti-american? Faking his respect on 9/11? You'd rather make a decision based on lapel pins (where was McCain's during his nomination speech?), instead of real experience and evidence. You're a joke.

Notice this paper didn’t give an example? How difficult would that be? Really?

For all these Palin's fans I have a question.... Isn't this lady supposed to be taking care of the poor sick kid that she brought to this world ... instead of campaigning for a political position??
Reply
She played "the hero" that did not "killed" her son... but now she is willing to deprave him of the most needed care of his mother??.. Who is going to take care of this poor kid if she becomes the VP?? ... The same nanny paid by our taxes that is doing it now ...while his parents are campaigning?? That is easy... and cruel!!! .. if her political ambitions are above her maternal instincts... ...there is definitely something VERY wrong with this woman!-

Opps, I forgot how Dems handle “these messy situations” like the Kennedy’s just give her a lobotomy and stick her in an institution. -

Why is her personal life in question? I hope next time you apply for a job or have a job review your boss asks you about your personal life, your children and husband. And then based solely upon how you (in his opinion) have performed at home he decides to give you a rise and/or promotion. We all live in glass houses sussieq

Political Scientist Matt Damon on the qualifications for Vice President. He's never been a Vice President, but he's played one on TV.
Reply
Sarah Palin's qualifications are similar to, or better than, the following people:
Barack Obama
George Bush
George Washington
John F. Kennedy
Thomas Jefferson
Abraham Lincoln
Please note these are all Presidents or candidates, not Vice Presidents. The bottom of the ticket generally is the lesser qualified, yet we continue to compare Palin to the top of the ticket.
It is difficult to act on "change" in Washington when the ticket works in Washington. It seems as though the same people who want a Washington "outsider" also expect qualifications that can only be found inside Washington. It seems to be an illogical argument.-

You are kidding, right? I have read much on Jefferson and to be sure she is nowhere near his equivalent. Certainly not in relation to the intelligence factor. She would be wise to listen to a few of us his words!
Reply
Here's one for her:
Enlighten the people generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day.
Thomas Jefferson
If the people were truly enightened we would not be looking at someone of her cut as Presidential material. We would look to visionaries like Obama. Not those that wish to return us to the past. Her future vision of America is after all based on a 2000 year old book of questionable worth, written by fearful, confused men. It is a literal vision of a book that is anything but literal, full of myth and allegory.
She is a Flat Earther in my view. Little evolved beyond that in her thinking. None of the great leaders listed above were so close minded. They would have accomplished little if they had been. Her and McCain represent an exclusive America, not an inclusive nation, something none of these men represent, or represented..

According to the Lipstick, GOD decided to send troops to Iraq. He called Bush and gave the orders. Do you remember Bush saying in 2004 that he "spoke" with a higher authority before deciding to go on a bloodshed in Iraq?
Reply
Lipstick, sticks right in there, no problem.
She also said that her son is going to Iraq on a GOD's mission.
I wonder, if either Bush or Lipstick can give us the phone # where we can reach this GOD so we, sane Americans can ask him when he thinks he would give orders to end the Iraq war.
That should settle the debate issue about Iraq.-

Yes, I am with Obama. When he said that a PIG is a PIG even after you put lipstick, this is what he was referring:
Reply
. PIG = failed policies of Bush for 8 years, which McCain supports and continue. Sarah agrees.
. When McCain says he & Sarah bring "change", that means Sarah is the lipstick.
So, it is OK to call her lipstick. I am a woman, yes but does not deter me from telling what is, as what it is. -

But beacuse she is a women Mccain feels as though not only is Barack going to be going down in history because he's black he got hisself some regular lady from ALaska to be his VP so that that would as well go into history because as old as he is I'm sure he's planning on croaking before his term is up if he does win. He needs to know that regardless if Barack wins or not he will be going down in history and as far as Palinj she will need to go back to being a soccer mom and grandmother...LOL

If you were The Boss... which team would you hire?
Reply
With America facing historic debt, multiple war fronts, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, skyrocketing Federal spending, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc. etc., this is an unusually critical election year.
Let's look at the educational background of the candidates and see what they bring to the job:
Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna *** Laude
& Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)
vs.
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 out of 899 (meaning that, like George Bush, McCain was at the bottom of his class)
Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism
Now, which team are you going to hire to lead the most influential nation in the world?-

There is no doubt that in paper Obama / Biden looks better but unfortunately paper does not equal experience.
Reply
Unfortunately if you know anything about politics all of the above issues are not and will not be solved by a President.
historic debt:
we need more production at home get rid of the unions and let the private enterprise take car of itself. we are capitalist not socialist
stumbling health care: The USA has the best health care in the world perhaps you meant more affordable health care. This can be solve by regulating the insurance companies
all-time high prison population:
This a state level issue, each state needs to take care of its own crime problems. Not the federal government
skyrocketing Federal spending:
Thanks to a democrat congress, just wait until you have Obama in there is going to be even worst.
mortgage crises, bank foreclosures:
Not the President's fault, is the people that bought more house that they could afford, using interest only loans, adjustable mortgages etc. that caused the historic foreclosures.
I agree this is an unusually critical election year, but to think that the President will solve all of the issues is totally wrong. we are not a socialist country.

Key point is "lead". Plenty of people lead without a law degree. You are assuming a cause and effect relationship with certain kinds of education. I would submit that you should study the best businesses in the U.S., and see what kind of education their leaders have.

"I'll tell you what Matt, I'd rather have Sarah Palin staring down Vladimir Putin than Barack Obama agreeing with Putin that the United States of America is the problem in the world, you moron. The United States of America is the solution to the problems in the world, and your guy, Obama, thinks we're the problem. "We're not as great as we once were." "We haven't met our promise," and so forth. But he can't tell you when it was better. So when it comes down to staring down either Mahmoud Ahmadinejad -- I mean it's your guy who said he would meet with these people without preconditions, that he would grant them the imprimatur of seriousness by walking them into the Oval Office. Your guy lives in a pipe dream. He thinks by the power of his personality, his messianic personality, his ability to persuade, that all these people are going to become our friends and we're going to end the strife, and there will be no tense anxiety and nobody will be wringing their hands together 'cause it's all going to be one perfect world of peace and love and harmonic convergence at Mount Shasta, ohmm. Give me Sarah Palin dealing with these thugs any day."
