Posted By ind06 1 year, 4 months ago in Humor

H.R. 874, more commonly known as the Jenny's Turning 17!!! Bill, will go into effect Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, as soon as Jenny's parents leave for their weekend trip to Vermont. Until the bill expires on Sunday afternoon, it will be legal for any American aged 17 or older—or 16 if they have a birthday coming up—to consume alcohol within the confines of 128 Longfellow Rd.

A rider has been attached to the bill allowing for all music to be "Maximumally Cranked" to no less than 120 decibels due to the impossibility of having a truly great party without bitchen' tunes, with "bitchen'" being defined as "over 120 dB".

17 is kinda late to start drinking isn't it. I started around my 8th birthday. All bitchin is loud no matter who or what is doing the bitchin.
???Congress is going to pass a bill with a rider on this???? I thought they took a recess to get to the nearest happy hour before rush hour.
    OK I'm bitchin conflicted.
I need another drink to get this straightened out.
    Later y'all................

Only 120 decibels? That'll barely rock the Washington Monument.

Well, its about time Congress got something positive done.

I do think it's a bit unfair that they passed a bill to help 17 year olds, but does nothing to help us 60 year olds.

Perhaps I'm not up to the times as I need to be, but...would someone please tell me who in the hell Jenny Larsen IS??

Perhaps she's related to Rula Lenska.

As for temporarily lowering the drinking age, I really question the wisdom of that. Sure, the kids are gonna party; who didn't do that in high school - myself included. However, letting young people know that they can temporarily suspend sensible laws is to render them a grave disservice which could hurt them in the long run. You cannot reasonably expect the world to cater to your every demand because you want to surround yourself with an aura of specialty; that isn't the way life operates.

I don't ordinarily endorse exceptions to the law for anyone, but since it's Jenny and it's her special day, then she deserves it. This, and a gift certificate to the mall. And maybe a pony too.
