Posted By jovial 1 year, 3 months ago in ReligionFundamentalist Christians in America are not the only ones leading a crusade against Darwin. Creationism and "intelligent design" are becoming increasingly popular among Turkey's Muslims, too.

Virtually all religions are a cult. This is why so many have died in the name of religion whether it be catholic or muslim.

Look at Bush! He is suppose to be a christian but with what he has done ... he is one big murderer in the name of imperialism, capitalism and greed. Cheney is even worse.-

Well. Look at the number that have died in the name of Atheism (See Maoist China figures). Or in government arguments unrelated to religion (See WWI/II, Vietnam, et cetera). Or in pre-emptive wars started by nutjobs (See current Iraq war).
Why aren't you spouting about those murderous Atheists. Or those cultist democracatic states?

Spot on with that one. That's why Christians talk about the looking at the 'fruits' of one's action to determine if you're ethically and morally in the right place (and why Buddhists talk about codependent co-origination).

I have noticed that the ignorance and primitive beliefs that characterize Christian fundamentalism is really no different than Muslim fundamentalism.

There are quite a number of extremely troubling links between Sarah Palin and neopentecostal dominionists--she may be ultimately as much of a "dream candidate" for the dominionist movement as Mike Huckabee was.-

"The populations of 34 countries were questioned on their attitude toward the theory of evolution, and the lowest percentage of supporters was found in Turkey. Only a quarter of Turks feel that Darwin’s theory is correct. Just barely ahead of them -- in 33rd place -- were the Americans."

We must be ever vigilant against those that wish to turn back the clock of progress.

Lest we forget, Turkey is the seat of the old Ottoman Empire, once among the most enlightened areas on Earth. Until the fundamentalists took power. And then... -

Palin believes that she and fellow Christians will disappear, followed by the world going through about 7 years of hell before Jesus shows up. Ahmadinejad believes no one will vanish, but, that Allah needs help from His/Their followers to help bring about the hell Palin and Christians feel they will miss out on. I'm thinking BOTH will get their wish.

I thought this was a very revealing statement from the article:

"Unlike what's happening in a number of areas in the US, all attempts to introduce creationism into biology classes in Turkey have been blocked. Only the theory of evolution is taught "in every school, in every classroom, even in the remotest provinces."
A muslim country teaching only evolution. -

Muslim Creationism. This is the Creationism atheists are far more easy on. I can understand. The day will come where the atheist has to say, "By golley, you are RIGHT, Abdullah! The sun DOES have to run to a resting place. Not only set in a murkey spring, prostrate under the throne of Allah, but, has to ask permission of Allah to rise again, where Allah will then tell it that the day will come where it will rise in the west."

More of your usual garbage. There are passages in the Bible exactly the same requiring the permission of God for the earth to turn, the sun to rise, et cetera. Muslims are typically not literalists, just as most Christians are not typically literalists because they understand (as most sane people do) that there are far too many conflicts within the holy texts to take them literally. Also they tend to understand that the cultures in which they were written are high-context cultures as opposed to the US's low-context, literalist culture.
