CEO murdered by mob of sacked Indian workers »

Lalit Kishore Choudhary, 47, the head of the Indian operations of Graziano Transmissioni, an Italian-headquartered manufacturer of car parts, died of severe head wounds on Monday afternoon after being attacked by scores of laid-off employees, police said. The incident, in Greater Noida, just outside the Indian capital, followed a long-running dispute between the factory's management and workers who had demanded better pay and permanent contracts.
According to reports, Choudhary had summoned about 100 workers to discuss a possible reinstatement. A police spokesman said: "Only a few people were called inside. About 150 people were waiting outside when they heard someone from inside shout for help. They rushed in and the two sides clashed. The company staff were heavily outnumbered."
Other executives said they were lucky to escape with their lives. "I just locked my room's door from inside and prayed they would not break in. See, my hands are trembling even three hours later," an Italian consultant, Forettii Gatii, told a local newspaper. More than 60 people were arrested and more than 20 were in hospital yesterday. I don't care how greedy or unethical the CEO was (if he was at all), he still didn't deserve being bludgeoned to death by an angry mob. Also to PilotDave, India's predominant religion is Hindu, not Muslim, and by quite a majority. You have no idea what you're talking about, and you can't attribute the crimes of a few to a country of over a billion (with a "b"). Jeffrey Dahmer killed an ate his victims. So by your logic all Americans are murderous cannibals. Your example is just as ridiculous.

Its happened here in America, its long been labeled "going postal". It had no effect on the GREED of CEO's and CFO's at AIG, Fanny Mae, Freddie Mac and numerous banks and other investment firms that have tanked in recent weeks.

I'm sure there are more than a few disgruntled employees that have had those thoughts cross their minds.......especially while standing in line at the unemployment line.
In a few weeks when they have burnt up their savings and are on the verge of foreclosure.....the thoughts will get stronger.
Let those idiots that ran these companies into the ground get a nice phat golden parachute of a couple million bucks....yep, it might be the straw that broke the camels back. -

I always hear the comment about greedy companies and their CEO's regarding outsourcing of jobs to foreign countries; BUT, I never read a comment about American Consumer's normal practice of purchasing the lowest cost (Cheapest!) items when they go shopping as being the baseline problem. As a company CEO I have first hand experience with my domestic (American) customers apologizing to us when they decide to purchase capital equipment from one of our foreign competitors because it's less expensive. They explain that they have no choice because they have to compete here in the US for American Consumer's dollar's against imported foreign product's. American's need to start looking out for themselves and their own country first. It starts with be willing to pay a little more for consumer good's. In this way we will protect our standard of living by keeping American's employed!

* American wages did not keep pace with costs, forcing them to shop for cheaper products.

* American automakers outsourced to foreign countries to cut labor costs. If they cut labor costs by 200%, why then, didn't vehicle costs follow? -

All these comments and ideas are interesting but how do we know he acted on his own? The company was out of Italy, maybe he was told by higher-ups to fire these people and he was just doing his job. We all know they get paid low wages, that is why everybody sources out their labor to these countries. What is this something new to you people, look at China and the sweat shops with all the children working. We allowed this to go on and now everyone turns around and says the CEO deserved it; well maybe we do to for allowing it to happen???

Couldn't care less how many CEO's go down (and in what manner)...most of them deserve it....the more money they make, they more they want, and they'll do anything to get it even if it means taking a company off the map along with its employees and leaving them destitute. If they are greedy and don't have a conscience, who care who gets hurt as long as those a-holes get the multi-million dollar checks. They don't have to worry about ever having to work again...so again, who cares...that's how they think.

American consumers would buy American products if they could afford them !!! The ceo wants to blame the unions and the consumers !!! American products are so expensive because of executive greed and ONLY because of executive greed !!!! They expect their employees to take concessions and huge pay and benefit cuts,and then turn around and half of that savings into huge bonuses and raises for the executives. They don't make their product more affordable to the consumer or even make a better product,they spend it on themselves !!!!! YES !!!! The guy did deserve to be bludgeoned to death !!! And if rjjengineer is reading this, he might want to consider a re-evaluation of what HE thinks Americas corporate problems are !!! He needs to remember,he's on the list of targets !!!!!

Goods made in China and shipped here can be bought cheaper here than in Shanghai. I have done so myself on numerous occassions.
We as consumers continue to beat the retailers down, so they in turn beat the manufacturers down, who then ship jobs overseas.

Not that I would condone such action, but this type of reaction and consequence should be noted by the CEO's of American companies. Let this happen ONCE in the US and maybe these fat cats who are getting rich while ruining the lives of their employees would think twice about lining their pockets while others suffer. I am sick and tired of hearing about record salaries and performance by top companies in the US while the rest of us suffer. Look at the oil industry. They are raking in record profits every quarter while the average American has to decide whether to fill their tank or buy groceries. The level of greed in this country is sickening to say the very least. How much money does one person need?

If this became the norm, the next time you speak with your CEO it may be behind bullet proof glass. Most corporations are not in business to make their employees rich and as long as certain personality types(power crazed junkies) bludgeon their way to CEO positions, this greed at the top of the food chain will continue to exist. I don't think that will ever change because CEO's are expected to be ruthless cut throats and that is one of the reasons they get hired. Although in any business there is truly only so much money to go around and someone always gets the lions share and if a CEO was to give his bonus back to the employees, by the time it was dispersed among the many, it wouldn't appear to be much and most people would be just as dissatisfied with there lives as before. Kinda like getting a check from GWB.
