Note to McCain: Troops Don't Get a Time-Out for the Financial Crisis »

Posted By Neophile 1 year, 3 months ago in Political News

So, because there's a financial crisis, Senator McCain cannot take 90 minutes to address how he will face challenges around the world, including how and when he will send American troops to fight, and possibly die.

Wow. Troops would sure love that luxury.

Unfortunately, though, insurgents in Iraq don't stop shooting at us, or setting IEDs, because our Commander in Chief needs a breather to figure out Wall Street.

Hey, doesn't everybody know that American troops are far less important than the rich people's investments. Better tend to the stock market first for those 'investers' who had the money to buy the stocks in the first place. Don't mention that 3/4 of a TRILLION dollars would be enough to PAY every Iraqi NOT to fight anyone, and give everyone in America FREE health care!
I hear the CEO of Lehman Brothers who made 56 MILLION in salary last year is going to sue the government for not bailing him out too!

"Time out! Duty calls" Says the knight in shining armor, who is full of hooey and something else that smells awful.

McCain is like the Wizard of Oz calling into the microphone from behind the curtain. People like aniokly want to believe these fairy tales and the stories of phony heroes.

Next, Palin will click her ruby slippers and this nightmare will soon end.

How ironic: The writer mentions McCain, then refers to the Commander in Chief. Freudian slip?

What a silly post. McCain simply wants to vote in the Congress.

As if McCain thinks the war would stop due to economic crisis. He of all people knows that better than anyone!!

As a prisoner of war in 1970s (McCain was a prisoner of war until 1973) the period of prosperity was at an end. A host of economic problems arrived. Foreign competition had begun to seize large parts of the U.S. domestic market; in 1971 the United States posted its first trade deficit in eighty years. Johnson's attempt to finance the Vietnam War by borrowing and printing money created large governmental deficits and sparked runaway inflation. The consumer dollar was worth less; households found they could not pay their bills.

No the war did not stop due to the economic crisis then just as it does not stop for economic crisis now. You don't have to remind McCain of that. McCain was at the Hanoi Hilton. Taking his daily beatings for his country.

It is 2 hours & 30 minutes to the debate city and 90 minutes of the debate. After the debate, it is dead of night.

So, my take on this is, this old hypocrite is not ready for a debate in front of the American people.

          What a coward!

You know, I'm all for McCain using whatever 'clout' he might have amassed over his 26 years in the Senate to bring this deal home. I DON'T think he's necessarily acting in the best interest of the people, nor do I think there is a fuse burning that would warrant postponing a presidential debate.

I think McCain will show up tomorrow, stating something like, "We are close enough to a deal." It wouldn't at all surprise me if he attends via satellite so A) he can appear to be 'hard at work averting this crisis, and B) so he can have his handlers off camera feeding him responses.
