Moonlight - a Real \ »
Posted By AVoiceofMyOwn 1 year, 1 month ago in NewsA woman named Lisa Gerry "Leeser" has run a fansite for the show Moonlight for almost a year now. In the last week, several people have come forward with allgations - and proof to back them up - that she has misappropriated THOUSANDS upon thousands of dollars from some of her members and manipulated them into unquesitoning adherence to her claims of interaction with the (now - defunct) show's cast and crew.
Over the last week, most of those who found out about her money gathering for the first time banded together to demand accountability for the money (when it was supposed to be "non-profit") and her hardcore supporters are proving downright cultish in their devotion and refusal to acknowledge the questions as anything other than members being "mean" to the "Goddess of Moonlight" and their "Head Vampire".
Most of the members on the board thought it was just a fanboard and didn't get involved with the money part. Those who did are now crushed that they were duped.
She's planning on starting over with "newbies" she can draw to her cause of "Saving Moonlight" when all of the official representatives of the show have declared it dead, the cast and crew have moved on - and she was banned from Warner Brothers completely.
The first post on the submitted thread is the one that started the snowball effect - a woman donated $11,000 for some bus ads and didn't get what she paid for - to say the least.

I joined that community because I love Alex O'Loughlin. I never gave money; I did comment very occasionally. Sent some emails, voted in polls trying to keep Moonlight on the air. I loved the show and wanted to do what I could, short of giving money, to keep it on the air.

The show won't be back on the air. I'll continue to follow O'Loughlin's career via other fansites. Can't imagine that anyone connected to the now-cancelled show is pleased/happy with this kind of publicity; especially O'Loughlin who seems like such a genuninely good man.
People can do whatever they want with their money, but, unless you have money to burn, might be a good idea to hide your wallet should you visit there lest you be tempted by... whatever. Also, if Moonlight is still your thing, there're lots of other sites to visit/join. -

As I stated on the other article, it is sad that one of our family would behave without conscience. I’m appalled. This does not reflect on the community, only the individual.

Please if you donate to Moonlight in the future or any other cause, make sure it is goes directly to the source. The only reason I comment here is to make sure nobody else falls victim. This may or may not be a scam, but it has opened our eyes nonetheless.
