Anyhow, if you heard Pelosi's partisan speech just prior to the floor vote, no wonder the bill didn't pass. Dems, my advice is to get a Speaker who doesn't antagonize the other party right before a key vote.

This bill represents massive inlationary spending. No wonder the Republicans and 40% of the Dems opposed it.

First they're for it, then against it?

Sounds like the Republicans are a bunch of babies...what, they can't listen to a speech by Pelosi and still vote the correct way for the good of the country? Crybabies, all of them...

      ___________

"The package, which was backed by both the Democratic and Republican congressional leadership as well as President Bush, failed in the House by a vote of 228-205.

A majority of Democrats voted for the bill. A majority of Republicans voted against it.

The Republican House leadership blamed Pelosi for giving a partisan speech before the voting that they said alienated House Republicans."

"Ask yourselves why you came here and vote with courage and integrity to those principles. If, like me, you came here because you believe in limited government and the freedom of the American marketplace, I urge you vote in accordance with your convictions," Rep. Mike Pence, R-Indiana, said.

"Stand up for limited government and economic freedom. Stand up for the American taxpayer. Reject this bailout and vote no on the emergency economic stabilization act," he said.

      ___________

I other words, vote no and doom the country we live with possibly years of our children paying the bill that could have maybe have been softened by a positive vote today...

And you'd rather have the alternative? A complete or near-complete meltdown of our financial system?

Well, the Republicans deserve what they'll get...come November 5, many of these so-called "Americans" will lose their seat in Congress to Democrats...

The people will have spoken then...

        Unusual-
(with all due respect) You're gullible. you're completely influenced my MSM.
Dennis Kucinich did not support the bailout. He is a very wise man...and a democrat. I appreciate good people.
Rep. Kaptur, a democrat, also, did not vote in support of this ridiculous move by the corrupt in our govt. to socialize our economy.
watch her video: (you'll be impressed)

the dems were doing that all weekend. On George Stephanopoulos -- McCain is talking about getting the deal done and other issues, the dem comes on and is trashing McCain. On Chris Wallace, that Lindsay guy is talking about the deal and what it needs and John Kerry's trashing the republicans in general and McCain in general --even going back to HIS debate with Bush to continue the trashing. Meet the press, about the same thing.

Even the sound bites I heard today -- Obama says McCain is just posturing -- so what? You think no one can see it?

This is a huge problem that the Democratic leadership has -- and has had. Nearly the entire substance of Kerry's campaign was "vote for me 'cuz I'm not Bush"...no, duh! Even there is much of vote for Obama because McCain IS Bush.

And now, with this incident, with one side of their mouths they talk about reaching across the aisle, but they just can't resist the opportunity to get a lick in against a Republican.

No wonder this country is in such a mess.
