I think that they should ban bottled water. it is no safer than tap water. tap water is regulated all the time by the government. bottled water isn't. besides it's too expensive. if you want bottled water do it yourself. put water in a bottle. companies that bottle water play on the fear that bottled water is safer than tap water. and the few gullible consumers buy it.

I'm not a fan of spending $2 for something I could get for free just about anywhere.

Some good reasons for not using bottled water except for the fluoride which is poison and has never been proven to lesson cavities in communities with fluoridated water and is also linked to bone cancer. There is a ton of information available about the dangers of fluoride, I'll try to attach one link.

There would be less crude going for the bottles if we filled our own.

Great article! We all have to drink plenty of water daily. I personally drink 1/2 to 1 gallon a day...and doing that with bottled water would drain my bank account dry!

I tok a Ph sample of water coming form the tap in my home and found it to be alkaline. generally reading about 6.3-6.5. I went to those machines that you find in most neighborhoods that use reverse osmosis and found the Ph to be right at 7.0. I didn't test for bacteria, but those machines expose the water to UV light which kills the bacteria in it.

I live in a small city in Ohio, every so often our City Water Department will send out a Drinking Water Consumer Confidence Report. This report is required as part of the Safe Drinking Water Act Reauthorization of 1996... and it is to be delivered to every household.
Reply
It begins by stating that our water system meets all of the current federal and state standards for public water systems. Our water source comes from the Ohio River which is lined by steel industries, energy producing industries, chemical, coal plants etc., etc. - you name it... it’s all along the Ohio. You should also receive such a report, regarding your water.
To make a long story short, our laboratory analysis can and always does... identify lead, copper, nitrates, fluoride, acids, trihalomethanes, fertilizer, corrosion of household pluming systems, additives to control microbes, by-products from chlorination, soil run off with organic contaminants and - if the water should be cloudy… it can carry bacteria, viruses and even parasites. Not to mention all the meds that are flushed down the toilets. In simple terms... these contaminates over an accumulated period of time will cause diseases or health problems.
I’m glad we are informed, I’m glad I have a choice and I’m glad there’s bottled water available. Just do a little research for a reliable bottled water company in your area. -

Only tangentially mentioned was the waste from discarded water bottles, many of which end up in the expanding plastic waste fields in the gyres of the oceans--vast plastic stews choking wildlife and leaching toxic chemicals.
