For the most part, the media have decided the appropriate response to the governor is to sneer, and sneering at great conservative leaders, from Ronald Reagan to Rush Limbaugh, has been a liberal pastime for decades.

What makes Gov. Palin unique from the other three candidates in this race is she seems so normal. She worked her way through college, married a good local guy, stayed home with her children for several years and has an impressive professional resume as well.
Millions of Americans never really related to Hillary Clinton on a personal level, what with her Wellesley and Yale education and lobbying/legal work.-

More propaganda to try and help save Palin by saying that the MSM will make her look bad no matter what, even though the facts will show that she can do a bang up job of messing up all by herself. I've never seen expectations set so low. In fact, I don't see how she can do worse than expected, so it's bound to be a positive outcome.
Reply
Repugnant Cons must truly expect her to completely blow it if they're wasting all their time on propaganda saying how bad she's going to look to make her look 'better.' -

''sneering at great conservative leaders, from Ronald Reagan to Rush Limbaugh''
Reply
good Lord man! are you trying to cause me internal injuries!
Rush Limbaugh a 'great conservative leader'? He's an entertainer, not a leader. Unless 'great' is a reference to size, like 'The Great Pumpkin'. If he's a leader he really shouldn't be-he gets paid to delight and amuse, like any entertainer. He doesn't get paid to lead [unless I'm being naive and the RNC pays him under the table] Man I haven't burst out laughing like that in many a moon. I laughed, but I didn't sneer. Sneering makes those age lines around the mouth -

Ms Palin is no more "normal" than anyone else. She's new to the national scene, and that's about it. She played basketball like thousands of others, she's a mom, like millions of others, she was a mayor like hundreds of others, and she's a governor, like a handful of others.
No big deal, really...she's smart, energetic, has charisma, is a good speaker, plus other things I'm sure are noteworthy.
But does she have what it takes to be the next VP? Or, heaven forbid, the next President? I don't think so. -

Sarah Palin is one of the mutt people that we have failed to educate in America. As such she is susceptible to all kinds of religious and political hucksters. Somebody who gets to be 46 without escaping from that doesn't have the knowledge, courage or vision to be a major leader. What we will see in this election is how many Americans we have condemned to being fleeced by oligarchs because they are uneducated and naive.
Reply
Revenge of the Mutt People
... About half of the Americans killed in Iraq come from communities like Winchester, Virginia or Romney, West Virginia or Fisher, Illinois or Kilgore, Texas or . . . . About 45 percent of the American dead in Iraq come from communities of less than 40,000, even though these towns make up only 25 percent of our population. These so-called volunteers are part of this nation's de facto draft -- economic conscription -- the carrot being politically preferable to the whip. The carrot does not have to be very big out here where delivering frozen food wholesale to restaurants out of your own car entirely on commission is considered a good self-employment opportunity...
... So we will either see that Americans, religious or not, get educated equally so they won't be suckered by political and religious hucksters. If not, then we must accept that uneducated people interpret politics in an uninformed and emotional manner, and accept the consequences. America can no longer withstand the political naivete of this ignored white class. Middle class American liberals cannot have it both ways. It has come down to the simplest and most profound element of democracy: Fairness...
... Lots of Americans don't seem to mind having a pack of young American pit bulls savage some flyblown desert nation, or running loose in the White House for that matter, as long as they are our pit bulls protecting Wall Street and the 401-Ks of the upper middle class.
The problem is this: pit bulls always escalate the fight and keep at it until the last dog is dead, leaving the gentler breeds to clean up the blood spilled. We mutt people, the pit bulls, have always been your own, whether you claim us or not. And until you accept that you are your brother's keeper, and help deliver us from ignorance, you will continue to have on your hands some of every drop of blood spilled . . . from the sands of Iraq to the streets of East L.A. All the socially responsible stock portfolios, little hybrid cars and post modernist deconstruction in the world will not wash it off.

CNN was very kind to the governor. She more than held her own. That is she did have any major gaffes. Biden of course did much better......

Dumb Dumb, Sarah did this to herself. It's not like the media asked her questions about rocketry, they were simple questions, "like what do you read?" and what other "amendment you like or don't like?" any grade schooler could reply to that ,board of education, separate but equal and the list of simple answers goes on and on. But she drew a blank and you blame the media? That is adding stupidity to stupid!

Ms. Palin is not ready to be VP and to be so close to being president, she is out of her dept! -

Maybe we shouldn't sneer at Reagan, although I thought he was not a good president for our country. But Rush Limball is in another category, he has covered the airways with propaganda and hate for far too many years. Those who follow him blindly and listen to his continual attempts to separate us need our pity for they are following the pied piper of evil.
Reply
Palin did pretty well during the debate, I don't think the VP debate is going to change many votes however. The debate was pretty lack luster and came across as rehearsed and the same old lines they have been using already...nothing new.
I think if Obama can get Florida and Ohio, the election is basically over. He is not there
yet but has a real good chance. I really don't think the country is ready for Palin to be
president if something should disable McCain, I certainly am not.

Katie Couric is a master sneerer. She's never done a fair interview with a conservative woman — ever. It's hard to imagine why campaign strategists waste Palin's time preparing for and sitting through Couric's brand of liberal "gotcha" journalism.
Reply
Couric's half-lidded eyes and unbearable condescension toward a woman whose achievements, personal and professional, are so superior to her own were excruciating to watch. But we could have predicted Couric's disparaging questions and snide looks before the interview aired.
Viewership of Couric's "CBS Evening News" show has been in the tank ever since she took over. Letting her interview Palin elevated attention for Couric in a way she couldn't do on her own.-

I'm not fan of Her Perkiness, but I did not detect hostility or condescension toward Palin. At the same time, there was no sympathy, either. No helping hand that a seasoned host offers a guest who was clearly off her game. I'm not saying Couric owed Palin a lifeline, but I doubt she would have let a liberal flounder as she did Palin.
Reply
But overall, it was Palin's job to expect Couric to be Couric. I think she dropped the ball. That said, Palin is still more qualified to be president than Obama. And no liberal can prove the contrary. -

It was probably the McCain team that wanted her with Katie Couric...it was a woman to woman interview, on a major network, in front of millions of people.
Reply
There weren't any "gotcha" questions, unless asking what Ms Palin reads falls into that category. It's simple, really...all she had to do was say one thing, like naming one conservative newspaper or journal, or even a middle of the road publication.
Don't blame Katie Couric for asking a simple question, blame Ms Palin for not answering it...
And if Katie Couric had tough questions, wait until Ms Palin is in front of Bill O'Reilly...what kind of questions do you think he's going to ask? -

Millions of Americans had only marginal interest in this year's campaign until Palin joined the ticket.
Reply
Make no mistake: The left-wing criticism of Sarah Palin is not an honest look at her readiness, but a criticism of her core values and her Reaganesque philosophical conservatism. For liberals, a movement conservative will never be ready.-

Yet what have you heard about what the intrepid Senate Majority leader Harry Reid managed to accomplish?
Reply
Sen. Reid 'regrets' insurance company comments
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., raised eyebrows at a press conference Wednesday when he said a member of his party caucus had talked about a major insurance company being on the verge of bankruptcy. At the time, Reid referred to the company as "one with a name that everyone knows."
Today, however, Reid's office sought to clarify the comment. His spokesman, Jim Manley, said Reid "is not personally aware" of any particular company being in trouble and has "no special knowledge" on the topic. Reid, the spokesman said, meant to refer in general terms about the financial sector and "regrets any confusion his comments may have caused."

What happened on Wall St today???
Insurance companies were issuing statements saying they were not in trouble
Insurance company stocks took a very big hit today on Wall St

One might say that Sarah isn't as experienced as Joe. Then someone else might say that Joe is old and jaded by all his experiences and back room deals in Washington. Sarah Palin is a fresh new face with a fresh new outlook. Old and jaded vs. fresh and new is there any choice?

Maybe she can ask Biden about these claims:
Reply
In the past, Senator Biden has suggested he was shot at in Iraq and that Taliban fighters forced his helicopter down in Afghanistan. Neither is true.
Or his claim in 1988 where he gave a stirring account of marching for civil rights in the 1960s.
There was one problem, as Biden's aides tried to caution him (to no avail) -- he hadn't really been active in civil rights marches.
Or his pilfering of phrases from other politicians, including then-British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock. That helped sink Biden's 1988 presidential bid.

We feel threatened? If you'll look around Propeller, you will find each and every liberal focused on Palin's performance with Couric.
Reply
Completely ignored are the record crowds she continues to draw. Remember this, Palin is part of the nation's largest and most reliable voting bloc. Obama nails the same black vote that Democrats always get anyway, 10% of the electorate, and they don't handle inclement weather very well.
Major storms in major metro areas on election day, and you can stick a fork in who ever the Democrat is.

Rush L. is a GREAT conservative leader? He is a trash talking talk show host. If that is the caliber of man that you deem a leader, a man who has never been elected to the head of anything and the head Dittohead in an army of mindless drones who call themselves Dittohead, then I feel as much pity as contempt.
And as for your assertion in your headline stating that Liberals are not Americans or simply that Americans do not have the right to be Liberals is either undemocratic or just plain arrogant.
Of course that is one thing Conservatives are. They are arrogant. Elitist and arrogant.

Yeah, those elite simpletons, they always cause problems for me too.
Reply
Conservatives are by and large not elitists. They're regularly every-day folks who fail to see the elitism in their chosen leaders. And they're not so much arrogant as steadfast in their resolve (be it right or wrong).
I believe that the Conservative leadership preys on the Conservative membership. The leaders reward themselves and their friends, and know very well how to hide those facts and bring up unrelated issues to distract the voters. But that's probably not a problem limited to Conservatives, I'm sure many of the Liberal leaders do the same thing. Entrenched power leads to corruption. If you know your going to keep in power, then you abuse it for all it's worth. -

Palin is not the same person she was with Couric. Good grasp of material, decent delivery. Both are doing a fairly good job of taking their arguments to their opponent. Both have lobbed an issue or two over the net that didn't work out so well.
Biden is doing a good job of providing clarification to help his/Obama's case. -

Palin saying Biden said there's no clean coal clearly, visibly got to Biden. His demeanor has changed, mannerisms denote fight-or-flight syndrome.
Reply
Biden said he was talking about coal in China. True, but take a look at the entire quote in the Columbus Ohio Dispatch:
"No coal plants here in America," Biden, a Democratic senator from Delaware, told the woman. "Build them, if they're going to build them over there (in China), make them clean because they're killing you."
Clean, dirty, makes no difference. Biden spoke against the use of coal in the US, period. -

and in this issue, McCain took the stance of non-engagement that let Hezbollah get their foot in the door.
