I watched the debate in it's entirety, and from what I saw, it was no knock down , dragout out, but I can say that Biden was superior in the points he scored, However, Palin was much better at delivering her responses than she was with Katie Couric.

Biden was clear, succint, made solid points, and was very genuine in his approach. Palin...well, the expectations for her were so LOW coming in that her not having a major gaffe made her look better, than she truly did. She is only somewhat knowledgeable on one issue.......energy....and I truly question her breadth and depth of knowledge because she is supporting her cry from the debate "drill, baby, drill". Moreover, would you want her making THE DECISIONS that would control our lives, if god forbid McCain got in and got gravely ill or worse tragically passed? He is the oldest presidential candidate ever.

Biden did fine. Palin talked a lot, and spoke well.,..but she was more rhetoric than substance. From a personal perspective, I don't like people who are in that position who come off 'folksy'. I find it to be patronizing, and talking down to people. Same with the cutesy 'winks.' She's an adult engaging in a serious conversation, not a teeny bopper running for president of her senior class.

i agree totally! she reminds me of an old cheerleader or something. i would prefer a more dignified person in the oval office and i am by no means a stick in the mud but there's a time and place for everything. i find her to be ridiculous and i can't stand how she talks. not the accent but the choice of words. God help us if she ever ends up as president!

The moderator was TERRIBLE! She allowed Palin to talk all over the place and stray so far off topic that the questions may as well not even existed!

When asked about foreign policy, Biden answered the question and Palin talked about tax cuts.
When asked about home mortgages, Biden answered the question and Palin talked about tax cuts.
When asked about Afghanistan, Biden answered the question and Palin talked about tax cuts.
When asked what they would do if the worst happened and they ascended to the presidency, Biden answered the question and Palin winked, then talked about tax cuts.
What I find most frightening, however, is that few seem to have even picked up on her total lack of substance or coherent response when it came to very serious matters. Even when asked about the authority of the vice presidency and if she agreed with Cheney's assertion that it is not held to the restrictions overseeing the executive branch and she said she AGREED. Biden DID pounce on that, but how many people even grasp that significance of that assertion? I haven't seen many comments about it. And that is HUGE. Talk about MORE OF THE SAME!
This woman is a complete incompetent who hasn't a clue about anything truly important. She memorized her little "speeches" well and delivered them with a wink and a smile so the morons out in TV land would lap it up like the moronic pets that they obviously are, but she actually SAID nothing. She responded to almost nothing and when she did, she made a fool of herself. But I guess, in order to see that she made a fool of herself, those watching have to be slightly above the "fool" mentality themselves......too bad. -

Most of America isn't you, however. Most of America works at about a fourth grade level of intelligence and depth of thought. No I take that back. More like a third grade level of complexity. She'll do well with those people. Just as Biden will do well with those people who actually think. -

Well said Jordan. It looked like she was flirting. I bet some men found her charming but the women folk I know were not charmed or amused. Very unprofessional and just a step away from sexual harrassment in a professional work environment.

I don't think she's beyond help but she's REALLY irritating and painfully phony. Why are we supposed to be impressed that she knows how to pronounce Ahmadinejad (thanks, Sarah...we got it...you studied REEEEALY hard), but then repeatedly says nuke-you-ler and mispronounces Iraq? And she needs to learn more words (or at least more talking points). This may sound really nitpicky (after 8 years of Bushisms) but she has a habit of ending her sentences with prepositions, using split infinitives and repeating phrases she should know to avoid because they caused people to burst out laughing the first time she said them. This wouldn't be SO inexcusable if she hadn't criss-crossed the country at different colleges over six years earning a journalism degree. Or maybe it would. Now I'm confused...
Reply
Anyway, she absolutely needs to lose that sugary midwestern sass routine and the cutie pie winking--for the love of God, Sarah, KILL THAT. Finally, who coached her to repeat howlers like "rears its head" and "he's a maverick"? "Waving the white flag of surrender"? What..as opposed to the white flag signaling the final lap at NASCAR, Sarah? Oh well...Maybe I should just be relieved she refrained from licking her fingertip and putting it up in the air again. OMFG. ;-( -

I want my leaders to deliver more than body shots. They should really know what they are talking about. She kept talking about the "change" that she and McCain are supposed to bring to Washington but never gave us any example of what they where going to do to change anything.

I can see how you might think that the way Joe kept forgetting how he voted and what he said about Obama not being able to run the country before he got the number 2 spot. But I think it is just senility I hat to make fun of anyone's health condition but when it comes to running the country I think we have to draw the line.

I couldn't say if she was tele-prompted or not. I can say that she was well rehearsed. And I noticed that she repeated the names of ME leaders several times. This kind of debating is a smokescreen for knowing little, but leaving an impression that someone knows a lot. There was no substance. Saying that you can't talk to your enemies without conditions is a bush talking point, and negates that bush did have someone go there and talk without conditions after Obama said it needed to be done.
Reply
Biden called her on her 'conditions' on talks with the Iran President, citing the fact that it isn't him you talk to anyway. It's the theocrats who run the country, not the President. She quickly deflected from that by attacking Obama's record. She didn't know that the President of Iran can't make decisions like attacking other country's. -

Sarah Palin is mostly fluff and little substance , especially as a vice president, or G=d forbid, a president. Debates have certain rules, format, questions and guidelines to be followed. Given this fact Palin did not win. When asked a question she either changed the subject or went back to her "comfort zone" as I heard so much of tonight. Which means she talked about whatever she wanted and avoided the real question. She didnt know the answer or how to answer the question. She was totally unprepared, not saying shes not bright, but that she cant be prepared in so little time. She was cute and funny, which would be cool if I was trying to date her. If im wrong let me know, I'll debate you

Here Here Ray123456! How could anyone say Palin won the debate? She talked a lot. But just like her interviews.... When she didn't know the answer, she changed the question. Biden, on the other hand, treated the debate like a debate. He actually answered the questions. I was really waiting for him to call her on it, but he didn't. Too much of a gentleman! Or should we call that diplomacy - acting Presidential maybe? This may seem petty but I do believe the vice president of the United States should have good diction, also. She has a tendency to drop her "g's" at the end of words. I also found the cute little expressions and the wink to the audience to be condescending and absolutely inappropriate.

I don't think she was talking down to anyone she just lacks the holler then thou altitude that some people think someone in power should have. If we wanted a king we would still be British. Palin did better than hoped for. Most of us where looking for another Saturday Night Live skit. But that said she brought no substance to the table. If I heard how Alaska was an "energy producing state, or John McCain is a Maverick" one more time with nothing to back it up I was going to puke. I'm glad Joe called her out on the Maverick stuff finally. John McCain hasn't been a maverick since 2000 He has walked lock step with Bush since then and promises nothing but more of the same.

I agree most of your comments Joe won the debate. Palin was just a cheerleader and talked her way around subjects. She didn't have an answer for alternitive fuels because Alaska's primary income is oil. If demand for oil drops they have nothing. If Exxon doesn't get the 4 BILLION DOLLAR TAX BREAK IT HURTS ALASKA! If Barack and Joe disagreed in the past that's a good thing. My wife and I have been successful and worked togeather yet dissagree on a regular basis. We agree on what we want to accomplish but different views on how to get there. Thats what I see with Joe. Palin was talking down to us in her cutsie way. debates to George Bush. John McCain is his own man and
speaks his own mind as we have all seen by the way he dosen't

Mavrick is a bit silly but has a lot of truth to it. I
believe these two (McCain and Palin) are the change this
country needs at this time. Hollywood and the Media
have lost all creditability and the left wing liberals
are getting histarical with trashing this lady. All this
mud slinging does not impress me and I keep waiting for
Mr. Obama to put a stop to this trash talking aimed at
Mrs. Palin. I read today where Sarah Bernhart talked
of black people gang raping Mrs. Palin if she came to
New York. This is so wrong and the dis-respect shown
by Obama supporters if rewarded will continue to
spread this rotting, discusting atmosphere that is
so evident in today's liberal media. The democraatic
party is even discusting many of their own.

Joe had plenty of substance, he facts and figures to back up his argument. All she gave us was that she and McCain are going to bring change to Washington and that they are outsiders and mavericks. What change? How? Everything that they propose is just a continuation of failed Bush policy. Cut taxes to the rich, continue the war, don't talk to our enemies, deregulate the health care industry.

I thought the debate was interesting. I watched only to see what was really said, because when you read things later, the media is so biased on Obama. When I have listened to Obama, its almost like he is speaking gibberish lies..what he says doesn't match his track record! Palin did great except her winking was very unprofessional and her slips into slang didn't seem right as compared to other women of state, she could use some grammar or presentation lessons. Keep in mind though that she has been leading Alaska and it does help to speak to people in their manner of speaking. What bothers me is that people simply like to attack rather than listen and look for what good things a person has to say. In presidential candidates I do not find any good thing in either when they have to run smear and finger pointing campaigns rather than address the nation with answers that give us confidence we will have a sound leadership that will guide us out of the troubled waters we are coming upon. We need a captain, not a sailor with a dream!! This is the president of the United States we are electing! Personally, I've watched Ron Paul stand up to congress and give an intelligent speech with solutions before his NO vote, and I know of many who are writing him in on the ballot...that's where my vote lies too..we need intelligent guidance and strength in the financial arena as well as war, foreign policy, and all the other critical areas we are lacking in .. HE HAS THAT...well rounded. I don't see that sense of lets get America back on track urgency in the 2 running and the vp choices combined!
Reply
I see agendas and dreams of what they want to do overruling what truly needs to be done..so our budget will just be bent to their agendas instead of fixed! They all talk the talk, but only Ron Paul will walk the walk! Mark my words.-

More power for the VP? No one thinking responsibly and clearly could in good conscience vote for her and McCain. She would be one heartbeat from the Presidency. Mc Cain is 72 years old. Consider how the offoce of the presidency ages people. This is a tragic mistake. We are involved in two wars, financial chaos, 40 million without health care, over 600,000 unemployed and we would have a cutsey, cheerleader, Hee Hee, Ha Ha, caribou Barbie in there. The state of Alaska has 100,000 fewer people than Jacksonville Florida. She carries that infant off and on airplanes and all over the place. What kind of life is this for the baby? Where is the baby when she is all over the place for days and days. I understand working mothers, I am one, however, when they are newborn most mothers are with them longer than 3 days before returning to work. It's like she is trying out for a beauty pagent, high school prom queen etc. We have to be serious now. This is a travesty.-
