As the Pope is not a US citizen, he should not be meddling in the political affairs of this or any other nation. That said, many people vote for reasons other than a candidate's stance on abortion. Consider plenty of other pro-life issues such as education, welfare, minimum wage, workers' rights, civil rights, taxation, veterans' affairs, and foreign policy are just some of the issues upon which people base their votes. For the Vatican to influence voters over one narrow issue is absurd and counter-productive. Besides, they have their own right to life issues, for which they have never confessed their guilt. I am still waiting for the Vatican to admit its complicity with the Nazis during World War II. Aw, touchy subject??
