Teacher Suspended For Racial Slur Directed At Obama »

Seventh-grade social studies teacher Greg Howard of Marianna Middle School was given a written reprimand on Wednesday for "racially inappropriate comments" he made in his classroom on Sept. 26, according to a Jackson County School Board news release.
Howard reportedly wrote the word CHANGE as an acronym on the board and wrote an expletive with the letter "N." The phrase he wrote has been reported as "Can You Help A (expletive) Get Elected" and "Come Help A (expletive) Get Elected." School district officials did not return calls seeking comment Thursday, and Howard could not be reached.

I don't think I am a racist. At least, I don't feel like I am. But I am very worried about the first African American being elected president. With the amount of radical extremists out there, I can only imagine what would happen if he was assassinated. This country would see internal strife, the likes that we have never seen before. I feel that option is being considered by terrorist cells around the world. I believe they know the moral and civil strife such an action would bring to this wonderful country of ours. Doesn't it worry you?

If that wasn't a planned stunt to get you to say what you just said, oh my, not in the 21st century, the teacher would have been deep sixed. A teacher is terminated for posting God Bless America in their classrooms. This would be a termination, not a suspension, because it would have been ruled a form of discrimination; a racial slur directed at a minority.

It has nothing to do with Hate. The entire world is the same way, it is something that can never change. The next time you go to a large gathering/Party, take note that you will more often see the whites with the whites, the blacks with the blacks, that is just human nature. It is not able to be explained. i do not hate blacks, nor did I ever. Some of my best friends are blacks. I can tell you I would never vote for obama because i can tell that he, and his wife HATE white people, its obvious. Not a problem, its life, deal with it.

What if the teacher is an African American? The article does not specify his race. What if he was trying to make a point by shocking the students to teach them about racism and the power of words or just using a word many African Americans use to refer to one another.

Its not okay. That is the problem. White people get away with things that black people would be in trouble for and black people get away with things a white person would be in trouble for. This teacher was wrong. But just because a black person got away with something (such as the situation you cited above) doesnt mean this teacher should too.
Just like it shouldnt be okay for a black person to call a black person a ****** or a white person a honky, cracker etc and white person shouldnt get away with calling a black person names either.
There is white trash and there is black trash. The black trash give the entire race a bad name and the white trash do the same to the white race. But yet we continue to single out one race as being the bad people.
No I wouldnt walk through a black neighborhood full of black trash at night, nor would I walk through a neighborhood of white trash at night.
I am a republican, I support McCain, but it has NOTHING to do with the color of his skin. Back when Obama won in Illinois, I was thrilled. I felt as a senator, this man could rock the house. I just dont feel he can do the same in the white house. If anyone, white or black is voting based on the color of the candidates skin, then shame on you. It would only show that you dont care about your country. Vote for who you feel can do our country good. If your voting on skin color, take the time and educate yourself. Read about each candidate and figure out who best fits your criteria for a person who can best run our country.
As for this teacher and any teacher who is bringing unethical politics into the classroom. Fire them. Not to long ago a teacher offered a good grade/extra credit for any students who campaigned for Obama. Thats ********. Keep your political views to yourself. Teach our kids about politics, but do it in a unbiased way. -

It's not stated whether this was a black or white teacher. I've received this acrostic (not acronym as is incorrectly stated in this article), as a text message several times-from Blacks, as I am Black myself. I don't know if the original intent of this was meant to be derogatory, but if so, the sting has certainly been removed, as it is now circulated as a joke all around the country. Perhaps this teacher, black or white, was using this as an attempt to use pop culture to relate and engage middle school students. Just a thought.
