Barack Obama was much older than 8 when William Ayers was photographed stepping on a US flag in 2001, for an article in which Ayers said he had “No Regrets” for his violent actions in the Weather Underground.
In fact, at the same time Ayers was in a Chicago alley desecrating the flag, he and Barack Obama were serving on the board of the Woods Fund together: PolitiFact | Obama served on board with Ayers.
Deborah Harrington, president of the Woods Fund, a philanthropic organization in Chicago, said Obama was a director from 1994 through 2001. That overlaps Ayers’ time as a director by three years. It also means Obama served with Ayers for the final months of 2001, after Ayers made his comments to the New York Times.

Yeah, you know that this stikes a chord when there are so many comments coming in about how "irrelevant" this is to the election.
Reply
The reason the Ayers / Obama / terrorism issue will not die out despite massive efforts to just make it go away, is the very fact that Obama has failed really come clean on the issue.
To most Americans this all smells very very very bad, and the fact Obama cannot come clean on it says a lot more than the huge effort to suppress it.-

McCain's "own Bill Ayers":
http://www.propeller.com/story/2008/10/06/mccains-...
Why is this association never brought up? Do we want a man who was convicted of felony and conspiracy in relation to an act that was the most damaging to Presidential trust in this country's history to once again have access to the White House? Why has Sen. McCain never disavowed him? Isn't he ashamed of what this man did to our country?-

Karly he has come clean, and major news sources have debunked this. The reason it wont die out is because people like you continue to want to make a big deal of it. Tell us all exactly what does Ayers stepping on the American flag have to do with he and Obama sitting on a board together. Can someone who uses half-truths and outright lies to smear the competition be considered "respectful?" That is what Senator McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin have done - and continue to do with their characterization of Senator Obama as "paling around with terrorists." This is not my opinion, this is what several reputable news organizations have concluded:
Reply
CNN calls these allegations "False." The New York Times says, " the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers." The Washington post, ""This whole connection is a stretch," The Chicago Sun Times, " Obama's Connection To Ayers Is A "Phony Flap".
If your claim that his minimal association with Ayers is a big deal, then tell us all how you feel about McCain voting with Bush more than 90% of the time. Ayers never killed anybody when he bombed buildings. Bush, McCain and Palin because they are associates of the same party have killed more than 38,000 people in Iraq and Afghanistan including over 4,000 precious American men and women. -

McCain was in the Navy when Johnson bombed our ship in the Gulf of Tonkin so I guess that would put him in cohorts with Johnson.
"The reason the Ayers / Obama / terrorism issue will not die out despite massive efforts to just make it go away, is the very fact that Obama has failed really come clean on the issue."
Obama has denounced Ayers' radical views and activities but the reason it will die out is the drop in the polls for McCain because of these tactics. The American people are tired of this kind of election tactics and only the Republican supporters want to hear this kind of negative campaign because they're desperate. Obama has a large lead in Florida, Ohio, and Virginia now. What does that tell you? -

No, this issue won't die because people like you keep pushing it. Obama won't come clean about it, you say? Clean about what? He had nothing to do with it. Have you ever served on any board? If yes, do you know what other board members did when you weren't with them? I've served on a board as a director, and I don't have the foggiest idea about what the other directors did outside the board meetings. Moreover, my concern was with the organization and making sure that everything worked well there, and I didn't even care what the others did in their own time.
You say that all this smells very bad. You know what smells bad? This smear campaign smells bad; it smells to high heaven. I just hope that Americans can smell it too and all this will backfire on the McCain campaign. In all my life, I've never seen as much filth in a campaign as I'm seeing now.
I'm not a Democrat, and I have no vested interest in this election, but I find it really disgusting.-

Obama may not have been the one to step on the flag but he is the one that was refusing to wear a flag of the United States on his lapel and he was the one that refused to place his hand over his heart and recite the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. I believe that no one should be allowed to serve any kind of political office unless they have served in some kind of military branch for the United States of America.

That's it?? It has come down to the wearing of flag pins. You do realize tammy24 that McCain didn't wear a flag pin during his acceptance speech or during the first debate, so it is kind of a ridiculous reason to consider ones qualifications. Our forefathers made it a point to put separation between the militias and government. Restricting political office only to ex-military is getting a little to close to "junta" style government.

it is my belief that the people saying that serving OUR country in the military is not a prerequisite for office are the same ones that do not have the heart or courage to defend the USA against all enemies foreign and domestic. I don't think that it should be mandatory but it should certainly be a major consideration. I believe these are the same people that do not serve in the peace corps or any other organization that helps defend our country in the eyes of the world and show them that not all we do is fight to defend our country. We also will help to defend their country if we are needed. Ask a Kuwaiti citizen how they feel about our help. Most of them have never been outside of the borders of their states let alone our country to see the good that we do in the world. hey are the ones that will sit at home and believe that everything the press prints is true. I wonder if the term YELLOW PRESS rings a bell with them? Just be ready to defend our country and your family when the extremists begin fighting the Jihad here. It won't be pretty and you will have to get out of your SUV and show some backbone.

You get props for naming the greatest...but one slight error on Lincoln. Lincoln served in a minor role during the Black Hawk War. I don't remember if it was a state militia or no, but it still qualifies as military service. Ol' Lincoln was a man for his times, and a man in his time. He advised against a war with Mexico because he didn't feel we had any "...truck with greasers". Lol! Please excuse the bluntly incorrect language, they were Lincoln's words, reflecting the idiom of the times. Lincoln had flaws. All of my heroes do...and that's what makes them so special.

There is a difference between not doing something and refusing to do something. Did/do all the other candidates wear a flag pin all the time? I bet I can find all kinds of pictures of McCain without a flag pin. As far as the pledge of allegiance goes, take a look at the two videos at the bottom of the page at this link, and put your mind at rest. He does, indeed, put his hand over his heart during its recital.

What I remember that struck me was that they observed UN holidays in place of traditional American holidays, and that they did not improve the education of the students.

McCain/Palin had better tread lightly when digging into Obama’s past , looking for dirt. Especially since they both have quite an assortment of skeletons of their own that could be shown the light of day such as: McCain’s support of KKK wizard David Duke, his refusal to support Nelson Mandela when he was imprisoned during apartheid, his ties to the Bronfman/Lansky crime syndicate in Arizona, Keating 5, Jack Abramhoff associates working as his fundraisers, his anger management problem, his compulsive gambling problem, his hidden health problems, his wife’s drug addiction and drug theft, her father’s jail time for breaking liquor laws, Palin’s Troopergate cover-up, her affair, her husbands ties to the Alaskan Independence Party, her knocked up teenage daughter, her exorcism by a witch doctor, BOTH of their nutjob preachers……get the idea? People who live in 7 glass houses (or a glass igloo) shouldn’t throw stones!

Why was McCain even involved in the investigation at all??? Five senators were at the meeting that was called to back off federal regulators from looking at Lincoln Savings. McCain was one of them because Keating asked him to be there because of their close ties. During the investigation the independent counsel gave someone a free pass for ratting out the other four. In order to make it look otherwise he threw in Glen as well on the free pass. Guess who the rat was Endo.

ALL the politicians need term limits. ALL. Two terms Senate, three term congress and then GET OUT! Kennedy has been a waste of good air I might need. Schumer from NY. Byrd from WV Many others need to go. They cannot understand the day to day problems of the average guy because they CAN pay all their bills, they have enough money for food, they can get unlimited health care, they WILL have a retirement after ONE term! How about that!! So really, all of them need to go and we need someone else to be voted in. But until people start to read the newspapers, watch all the news, learn history and why we need to keep our freedoms (ALL of them) we will never get anything done in the USA. The time would be right for an Adolph Hitler type person to come out and any great speaker could stir up the country. We need change but not Obama and McCain is not much better. But to those of us who don't agree with communists or socialists, and who see this country going down the toilet because of people like Ayers and Alinsky, we are very much alarmed by the possibility that he could be elected as President of the United States. I don't need to use scare tactics as Obama has already made it clear by his actions what he believes in ... a permanent working class, re-institution of the draft, government political officers, radical intimidation techniques, and income redistribution via the tax system. FTA One of the Weatherman leaders was Bernardine Dohrn, a smart, magnetic figure who, in part because of her penchant for miniskirts and knee-high boots, was dubbed "La Pasionaria of the Lunatic Left" by FBI director J. Edgar Hoover. After a bomb exploded accidentally and killed three of their colleagues, Ayers and Dohrn "hooked up," in the parlance of the day, and, since 1982, they have been married. This—violence, death, and white-hot rhetoric—is his past and Ayers insists he has no regrets.-

FTA:
F**k the pigs. That was how they all felt-Brian Flanagan, John Jacobs, Terry Robbins, Bernardine Dohrn, Bill Ayers, Mark Rudd-the most stalwart members of the fledgling militant antiwar group Weatherman. To them, the police were simply tools of the state-brutal, corrupt, oppressive minions who carried out the bidding of a government engaged in an illegal, amoral war. What was worse was that the police had all the power. With their helmets and truncheons and paddy-wagon doors flung open like jaws, they could stand by and intimidate while peaceful marchers cowered. No more. As the winter of 1968 bled into the spring of 1969, a new type of dissident was born, one dedicated to the proposition that violence, not passivity, was the way to change: Weatherman.

I have no doubt Obama has leftist socialist views as shown by his associations with Ayers as well as Rev Wright and the ACORN organization. There are just too many questions and Obama does not want to give any answers. Obama has given money to Acorn, Acorns PAC endorses Obama then says they are non-partisan. Obama has rcvd the second largest amount of money from Fannie and Freddie. Fannie/ Freddie give money to ACORN. Franklin Raines who ran Freddie rcvd 90 million in bonuses before leaving and now he is with the Obama campaign. How can anyone not see the problems here? In there zeal to hate Bush, people are willing to trust anyone who talks the talk. Its plain to see that Obama does not walk the walk. You don't have to like it but McCain has walked the walk all his life and does not hide from the truth.

"Obama has rcvd the second largest amount of money from Fannie and Freddie"...I didn't know those two agencies issued checks to individuals, I thought they just dealt with mortgages. From what I read they just buy mortgages and resells them on the secondary mortgage market as mortgage securities whose interest and principle are guaranteed against loss. So exactly how did these two agencies hand over money to Obama???

I am tired of MCCAIN AND PALIN! They have turned this election into a JOKE! I never thought that I would vote for a DEMOCRAT or an African American, but the tactics the MCCAIN campaign has put out is utterly shameful to my Republican Party. To add insult to injury McCain selects a DUMMY as a running mate!

Bill Ayers is more of a patriot than those that traded our treasure and blood for a comfy condo in Dubai will ever be. By the way, I inspect images for a living, and I see no foot on "Old Glory". What I do see is 'the flag' at Ayers' feet. He has an inscrutable look on his face. He could be thinking: "Hey John, did you drop this?!".
Wussy wussy wussy...2007 times (at least) you've shone that you have no imagination, and not enough intellect to appreciate one that has. Pity. Mr.3006, how has a flap over a flag pin evolved into the Pledge Of Allegiance? I quit wearing my pin when it got hijacked by the neocons and religious fanatics.
I keep my yellow ribbon over my windshield, to remind me, not you. I don't need to wear it on my sleeve. Only the Nationalist types need to impress others with the trappings of patriotism. The rest of us can tell without looking.
Some of you get your panties all knotted up when freedom appears diametrically opposed to the trappings of patriotism, yet, strangely, applaud those that wipe their arses on it every day. -

Winky and McSame have adopted all of the Bush mannerisms and strategies. Winky can't remember a single magazine she ever read and McSame has lost his "bandage" of Honor and can't find it.

McCain Plans Federal Health Cuts
Medicare, Medicaid Spending Would Be Reduced to Offset Proposed Tax Credit
By LAURA MECKLER -- The Wall Street Journal
John McCain would pay for his health plan with major reductions to Medicare and Medicaid, a top aide said, in a move that independent analysts estimate could result in cuts of $1.3 trillion over 10 years to the government programs.
The Republican presidential nominee has said little about the proposed cuts, but they are needed to keep his health-care plan "budget neutral," as he has promised. The McCain campaign hasn't given a specific figure for the cuts, but didn't dispute the analysts' estimate. -

There are more than a few posts from the cons trying to belittle Obama's relationship to an organization called ACORN. Not being familiar with this organization I had to see what the fuss was about. What is it about this outfit that has the right wing so upset???...WWW.ACORN.ORG

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Now just because has once turned his back to one of his beliefs, and he has a blatant disregard toward the American heritage and to most everything that makes us and American, doesnt not mean that he is wrong for presidency!

....... Wait...? Yes! it does! I say he can take his "CHANGE" somewhere else! P.S. We were not born as fair-weather friends and should never even be related to one.
