For Palin to bring up something that took place a long time ago (in the 60's) is so absurd and so out of the periphery just to stir up improbable, and implausible controversy whilst avoiding the real issues that concerns everybody (the current economy for instance like: "Hello!")that it defies all parameters of cognitive, logical, and rational thought. Obama was a child when domestic terrorists "The Weatherman" were at they're peak! Oh Brutha! Gimmeabreak!

What about McCain's "guilt-by-associations?"
Reply
Here's an interesting one. McCain's "own Bill Ayers":

LOL...poor McCain...
Reply
He's given up on Michigan because he knows he can't win there. I see him also leaving Virginia, and possibly even Florida within the next three weeks for the same reason...he's probably running out of donations, which accounts for this...
This week we hear about Troopegate, and we might learn the extent of Ms Palin's involvement...
He and Palin can't win on the economic issues because so many Americans associate him and Palin with the Bush administration. His campaign is trying to switch the topic from the economy to Bill Ayers or any past associations. Don't they realize the people of this country are interested in the economy, and how McCain/Palin are going to handle it? Apparently not...they're not talking about the economy at all after McCain's ineffectiveness before the bailout bill passed...
McCain/Palin are behind in the polls, and are falling further behind almost daily now...
The second debate is Tuesday night...everyone watch, as this will be the one to accelerate the decline of McCain...

There is nothing to "bolt" from. Obama has never agreed with Ayers actions in the 60s, and Ayers' current work with community groups has NOTHING to do with what he did in the 60s and thus has NOTHING to do with Obama.

Question for YOU - If McCain was the one that had this 'association' with Ayers, would you be just as 'condemning' of McCain?? -

"Does Obama think this terrorist has changed and become pro-America? I doubt it."

Doubting it doesn't make it so. If you're trying to make a solid argument, you need evidence. If you have proof that Mr. Ayers has done anything illegal or even "anti-American" (hint: just because something is "non-conservative" doesn't necessarily mean it's anti-American) in the last, say, 30 years, please post a link. Better yet, if you have credible evidence that Sen. Obama agrees with, endorses, condones, or even vaguely admires behavior such as that which Mr. Ayers engaged over 30 years ago, I'd be very interested in seeing it.
"Why didn't Obama bolt from that Nation of Islam like church?"
And you are certain that it is a "Nation of Islam-like church" how, exactly? There are people who would entirely disagree with that assessment. White people, in fact. Here's a prominent one:
http://www.truthout.org/article/rev-wright-a-diffe...
Did you read it? Let me spell it out: White man. Member for 25 years. "Racial divisions were unacceptable." "Never in my life have I been welcomed more warmly and sincerely than at Trinity. Never." In this country we are often too quick to judge based on soundbites rather than facts. If you google the author by name you will find that he is an executive of a major power company.
The politics of guilt-by-association are applicable to almost anyone. Everyone has run across someone in their past with "questionable" judgment. Gov. Palin's church, for example, seems pretty far off the deep end to anyone who doesn't believe in witchcraft. John McCain's past involvement with Charles Keating seems quite damning, especially in light of the recent financial crisis. -

Sen. McCain is also an admitted serial adulterer. He takes full credit for having engaged in multiple extra-marital relationships during the seven years he was married to his first wife Carol after he returned from Viet Nam. His present wife Cindy is one of the women with whom he cheated on his first wife. This is the most extreme form of "guilt-by-association." Not only did he associate with these women (in the, um, "biblical" sense), but he broke a solemn vow (which most religious folks like him would hold to be "sacred") in the process. Let me repeat that, in Biden-esque fashion: John McCain broke a sacred vow repeatedly. He cheated. He lied. He covered it up. Long afterward he admitted it. Sure, he called it his "greatest moral failure." However, he is still reaping the benefits to this day. He's still married to the younger, attractive, uber-wealthy Cindy. It hasn't been a catastrophic failure, in other words. If his relationship with Carol was "on the rocks" or "over with" when he came back from Viet Nam, why did he choose to stay married to her instead of doing the courageous thing and admitting that he wanted a divorce? Why did he sneak around behind her back with other women? Why did he court Cindy for nine long months before approaching Carol for a divorce? Why are his supporters, many of whom are the same people who viciously attacked Pres. Clinton for his affair with Monica Lewinsky, simply willing to ignore this egregious example of moral corruption? Simply because it happened thirty years ago?
Reply
See the parallel there? Thirty years ago John McCain did something unforgivable. Carol may have let him off the hook, but should the rest of us citizens? Should we believe that someone who repeatedly broke the most sacred vow a person can make has completely reformed and will never lie to anyone ever again? Barack Obama has nothing similar on his record. He may have been associated with someone who did some unforgivable deeds long before he knew him, but there is no credible evidence that he's ever broken his solemn vow to his wife and family. John McCain's past associations are far worse by comparison. And he openly admits to them.
If you really think that digging into the dirty politics of guilt-by-association is a fair tactic ("strategy?"), it's necessary to examine both sides of the coin.

THE FACTS about this 'issue' -
Reply
While it is known that Barack Obama and Bill Ayers live in the same Chicago neighborhood, served on a charity board together and had a fleeting political connection, it's a stretch of any reading of the public record to say the pair ever palled around. And it's wrong to suggest that they were associated while Ayers was committing terrorist acts.
Palin's attacks are LIES - period. -

The "swiftboats" are sailing....McLame has no choice but to resort to the NeoCon character attacks that worked so well in the past. However, I think this time the voters will see it for what it is...cheap shots from a desperate candidate.

Could Cons justify why we're friends with Israel? That nation lionizes the Irgun, the terrorist outfit that did the King David Hotel bombing amongst other things. I thought we were suppose to shun those who associated with unrepentant terrorists.
Reply
I can't wait to hear the Con nuanced response to why the Irgun are not relevant. To why some terrorism is okay.
Go, Cons.-

Because when Israel treats Palestinians badly, their citizens are the first to march in protest. But when Palestinians attack Israelis, the animals celebrate.

There are some of us who have the audacity to call this a "distinction."

I have no doubt Obama has leftist socialist views as shown by his associations with Ayers as well as Rev Wright and the ACORN organization. There are just too many questions and Obama does not want to give any answers. Obama has given money to Acorn, Acorns PAC endorses Obama then says they are non-partisan. Obama has rcvd the second largest amount of money from Fannie and Freddie. Fannie/ Freddie give money to ACORN. Franklin Raines who ran Freddie rcvd 90 million in bonuses before leaving and now he is with the Obama campaign. How can anyone not see the problems here? In their zeal to hate Bush, people are willing to trust anyone who talks the talk. Its plain to see that Obama does not walk the walk. You don't have to like it but McCain has walked the walk all his life and does not hide from the truth.
