To those still fighting the party war, Party is the madness of many for the gain of a few. If you really care about the USA perhaps it is time to put the fabled “ NONE OF THE ABOVE “slot on your ballot. Mc Cain is between a rock and a hard place ( squeeze play ) Obama does not have a clue. God help us the BAILOUT went through.

USA and The Constitution is under attack, by those sworn to uphold it. Representative vote was totally ignored by members of Congress

The only reason that I keep myself registered as a Democrat is because that is the party I most identify with and this way I have some influence in the direction that the party takes. Otherwise I would be an indignant.

and your response to this list of crises, is to vote 'none of the above'?
To wait until the right leader comes along.
Until then, let the country burn...?

            That isn't even a plan.
It is the validation of inactivity and indiference, that got us where we are.

            Dare to vote for Obama.
If he doesn't have enough clues, give him some .
He looks like a quick learner.

Maybe it's not so much tries as it is lies. Do they really think the American public want to elect a bunch who are such liars and character assassins?

If McCain would not have supported the party line in the last eight years, and would have called out the Bush administration during this election and shown us how he would be different instead of the same he would have had a better chance. Of course he wouldn't have gotten the nomination.

Heck, we all know how much the Bush/Rove neocon crowd hated McCain.

And it was obvious after 2006, that a ground-swell of anti-republican sentiment was building over the war, the economy, the hilarious scandals,

-so they handed a doomed nomination to someone they hated.
After goading him to sell his soul to do it.

Really, It was a mean trick to play on the old guy.

We’ll see how the process goes in a few weeks. If Obama can garner enough constitutional electoral votes to win, he will be my president because I think the will of the People trumps who I want as president. Will those on the left be willing to say the same of McCain if Obama doesn’t win?

That depends on the nature of McCain's administration. If he fails to live up to all the 'maverick' bluster, you bet I'm gonna call him on it. I doubt you'll be giving Obama a free pass.

You really have only one chance to be a maverick and McBush has blown it. Once he became a toddy for the Bush policies he abhored earlier in his career, his claim as a maverick has become just a joke now.

I suggest you check out Obama's history with Acorn before you speak about anyone having a history with any kind of fraud. Obama, who will shortly be investigated for fraud considering he's been receiving donations from fictional organizations..."Good Will, and Doodad Pro???" Taking $10,000 worth of donations in small increments when the max allowed from any one organization is less then half that amount. And you have the odacity to say Rep have a history of fraud. What a joke.

After the Scam Bailout of 850 billion, do you really think we can afford Obama and his "Pipe Dreams? It is sorry to say but damage control is the name of the game. Except it is no game. You are talking about not only your future but the future of your children.
WILL you make the same mistake? For those too young to know or remember. Change for the sake of change is seldom for the better. 1975-76 the U.S. was in turmoil, and people were demanding change. An obscure young man with good credentials(exceptional credentials compared to the aspirants today). 1977, President Carter inherited an economy that was slowly emerging from a recession. After four years of the Carter presidency, both inflation and unemployment were worse than at the time of his inauguration. The annual inflation rate rose from 4.8% in 1976 to 6.8% in 1977, 9% in 1978, 11% in 1979, and hovered around 12% at the time of the 1980 election. Carter had pledged to eliminate federal deficits, the deficit 1979 $27.7 billion, 1980 was nearly $59 billion. Inflation(11-12 percent), and skyrocketing interest rates(21.5 percent). July 1980, Carter received a favorable rating of only 21% in the Gallup Poll. That was the lowest rating any president, including Richard Nixon at the time of his resignation, had received since polling began in 1936.This not to mention the devastated military preparedness and income tax rates. Do we need to re-live this in 2008-2012?

ROFLMAO, are you truly serious? Republicans fiscally responsible? In the first four years of Bushs reign of errors he DOUBLED the debt, For those on the right who have trouble grasping the meaning he spent more in 4 years then ALL other President combined. MORE then ALL other President over a 230 year period. ANd in the next four he went on to try and double that. Great job.

I don't know how I will feel. After Bush won his second term I was devastated. I saw the handwriting on the wall and knew where this country was headed, unfortunately I was right. I would give McCain a chance but Palin scares me. I don't want her anywhere near the oval office.

Your expression of solidarity with the (potential) result,
is an example of patriotism that I would hope we would all emulate.

McCain has the ability to be a good president; although I would dread a Reagan-era-like internal struggle among his advisers and lobbyists.

On the other hand, I don't want any american to have too much loyalty to the president.
I worry that the US is falling into an Empirial Presidency; people talk like the candidates are running for Caesar, not the head of 1 branch of a multi-branch federal government designed to serve us and keep out of the way.

I intend to be a very serious critic of an Obama Administration

I think Palin can be thanked for the slight jump in the polls. Whey the hell they are letting her go around saying things like Obama pals around with terrorists and doesn't like America is beyond me. The only people who see anything in her are the hard core cons on this board. In other words, Obama might be wise to help with her travel expenses, the more places she speaks at the better his team looks.

Not quite sure if you've been paying much attention to reality these days or not but Obama does in fact have a history of dealing with terrorist. Have you heard of Ayers at all? If not, I highly recommend you look it up and educate yourself. Not to mention the radical church he was a member of for years and would have continued to be a member of if it hadn't affected his campaign. Call me crazy but I'm not inclined to trust a man who runs in circles of those who HATE AMERICA. Somehow, a person such as him does seem very American nor does he seem as someone who has her best insterest at hear or mind.

Some of you folks on the right seem a mite confused. First, since when does wanting our country to live up to its ideals make us America haters? Second, if Ayres is a terrorist, why hasn't law enforcement sought him out? He committed some criminal acts against property in his youth and got off because of bad police work by the authorities. Are you still fighting the culture wars of the 60s and 70s? Criminal acts against property aren't terrorism. Terrorism would imply that he was currently and actively engaged in crimes against civilians.

There's a difference between hating America and hating what America does. I'm not going to defend what William Ayers did but that was a long time ago, Obama wasn't any part of it.

While all of Lestat01265's comment was incoherent, I liked this best:
"Somehow, a person such as him does seem very American nor does he seem as someone who has her best insterest at hear or mind."

I am sympathetic, because I also have made the occasional major grammatical/spelling/ logic flaw.

Howeversoever, - there is, behind all those mistakes -
                                        an underlining error in thought.

Obama does not hate America; he IS an American, currently trusted by half his countrymen to be their next leader. And he is going to work to gain the trust of the other half.

                                        Those who hate America, are those who wish it ill;
those who wish America ill, lie to it.

                                        You have been lied to.

Further investigation by ABC and other sources reveals that Sarah was not exactly honest in all her replies during the debate. She appears to be as accomplished a liar as McCain, Bush, and Cheney.

Yup. Repukes sure picked the right person.

Some in Alaska love her, others can't wait to throw her out in the next election.

An accomplished liar gets people to believe what they are saying. Outside the hardened conservative, no one believes Mayoor Moose.

An accomplished liar would be our current congress and the bailout. I have not heard one economist state that the common man will benefit from that money. They have said that it was a tax increase in sheeps clothing.

Didn't you happen to notice that John McCain and the House minority leader were actively engaged in lobbying their fellow republicans to help pass that lovely bill.

I salute both the republicans and democrats who held out and opposed it. You should have checked out Alternet and Huffington post over the last several weeks. If you had, you'd have noticed that most of us on the left opposed that lovely bill too.

Not to mention that it was originally proposed by George W. Bush, last time I checked he was still a Republican.

I still have mixed emotions about this bill. Like you stated lestat, I haven't heard too many economists saying that this would really help. Most agree that it only delays the inevitable.

the RCP daily average has Obama up 7.6% in Minn.

and McCain just pulled out of Michigan.

so, two battleground states that are moving towards Obama.

I felt pretty certain that Minnesota wouldn't go for McCain/Palin. The last time we went republican was '72 -- Nixon. We learned our lesson the hard way.

Imagine a Minnesotan bragging on their voting record! Remember Jesse Ventura? LOL

Okay, I admit that while I didn't vote for him, I did hope that he would turn out to be worth while. Unfortunately he was thin skinned about criticism and more interested in putting on a show than trying to get anything important accomplished. Still, if you look at all the governors who served around the same time he did, you would be hard pressed to say that he was the worst.

Great news for Obama, Democrats and America. It is about time we put Bush dictatorship to rest.

Fine. I don't care just so long as we in Minnesota don't wind up with that Al Franken idiot as a Senator. He sat next to me on a flight from Vegas to Minneapolis in June 2006 and after only 10 minutes in the air I was ready to throw him through a window. He just wouldn't shut up.

i still don't know who i'm voting for, but i do think that it's pretty much over - obama wins.

i dunno if that's good or bad, i just know that whoever wins won't introduce the apocalypse of the US.

I base my decision on the economy, the currency market, and the National Debt. Under Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr., the dollar tanked, the economy was weak, and the National Debt exploded. Under Clinton, the reverse happened. As far as people being worried about an increase in taxes, intelligent people know how to get around that.

I have no doubt that potential voters are more favorable to Obama than McBush in the swing states, now. But, as far as I'm concerned, the only poll that counts is the one after all the votes have been counted. Obama needs to stay on message and let the McBush/Palin team implode. The media is no longer buying in to their constant stream of lies and are now questioning their veracity in their campaign speeches and ads.

Where ever in America, this economy is going to reach you. The reality of feeling like you are in a Great Depression, even if we aren't will make the choice for Obama clear. That's what we are seeing for his increased support. Georgia and surrounding states are going through 'no gas' at the pumps. That is infrastructure and planning, where we need someone to clean house, which favors Obama. Prices for crude dropped without drilling, well speculation wins over supply, remember McCain's stance? What ever state you vote, vote to correct these things and not the past, that's where 'W' got on. We need change, vote for change.

Yesterday in San Francisco, this Republican VP idiot called Afghanistan "our neighboring country". And the top of the ticket, McCain who has lost all his bearings, said Iraq shares its border with Pakistan.

The lipstick also said that she congratulates troops in Afghanistan for fighting to establish DEMOCRACY? Whatever happened to finding Osama? Only last week, the top British commander in Afghanistan said there can be no military solution in Afghanistan. No wonder, the idiot candidate for VP could not come up with the name of a newspaper.

How stupid can someone be and how "super" stupid can be the people who go to her dumb rallies, cheer and will vote for her?

I talked to a guy who just got back from being in Russia. He had a Russian interpreter with him all the time and she asked this guy "didn't the Americans learn from the USSR fiasco in Afghanistan which resulted in the USSR going broke?" "The whole agenda of the Arabs is to destroy the econmomies of their enemies." "Didn't the U.S. see what happened to the USSR?"

Bin Laden knows that he doesn't have the firepower to defeat America's military. That's a no-brainer. All he wants to do is destroy the U.S. economy. There is no need for al Qaeda to attack in the U.S. again. They accomplished what they were trying to do.
