Dubai Plans to Top Its World's Tallest Tower »
Posted By pagey 9 months ago in StyleDUBAI, United Arab Emirates — With its world's tallest building nearing completion, Dubai said Sunday it is embarking on an even more ambitious skyscraper: one that will soar more than 10 American football fields.
About 150 elevators will carry employees and workers to the Nakheel Tower's more than 200 floors, the company said. The building will be composed of four separate towers joined at various levels and centered on an open atrium.

from description, should be a magnificent structure and an architectual masterpiece. I can think of a number of tacky, critical comments that may be encountered from envious souls, but there is too much negativity in the world today. I hope that most will simply appreciate it for its beauty, and respond accordingly with tasteful,complimentary commentary.

Ridiculous extravagance for no apparent reason other than we can bloody well afford to do this. 50 years ago it was a wasteland but thanks to bubbling crude they are building things to up themselves over their friends. This will be another empty building in Dubai. What a waste of time.

I watched a special on the building of Dubai. Its disgusting so much money is being spent there and only because it can be. The waste is incredible. The place is also being built on the backs of 100s of thousands of slave laborers who have radical Islam knocking on their doors. Wait until Dubai breaks from middle eastern culture or the west doesnt need thier oil anymore. Dubai will go down faster then it went up.

If the company that is building this magnificent buidling has any money left over, I would let them pay college tuition for my 3 children; so that one day they too might do something magnificent and all their dreams come true. I would clean toliets for any company that put my kids through college and in return my reward would be that of being a proud parent of 3 wonderful children.

Arthur C. Clarke, in his sequal novel to 2001 A Space Odyssey, proposed the construction of a gigantic artificial habitat ring around the entire planet Earth, with centrifugally-powered elevators to provide the means for easily going from the Earth's surface up to this ring structure. Guess Dubai would provide one of the bases for this system.

Duai has no oil. The money comes from banking and investment. There are no taxes and no social programs. Also no reporting about who has the money or where it cam from. Like Switzerland used to be.

As someone else here said, it will come down faster than it went up.
The weather is only tolerable for 6 months out of the year and there is no culture, no law and no real government. In 30 years it will be a glass and chrome ghost town.
