Comments for McCain's Own Bill Ayers »

Posted By techsupport 1 year, 1 month ago in News

The Times has yet to mention, let alone devote an entire article to, Sen. John McCain's relationship with radio host and convicted Watergate burglar G. Gordon Liddy. Indeed, in its October 4 article, the Times quoted Chicago Tribune columnist Steve Chapman denouncing Obama's association with Ayers but did not note that Chapman has described Liddy as McCain's "own Bill Ayers" and has written that "[i]f Obama needs to answer questions about Ayers, McCain has the same obligation regarding Liddy."

    Hey techsupport, great submission.

Now, if we could get four people to post 34 comments here, all agreeing with each other, this story would be close to the top of the front page--just like FSU's.

Sometimes you just can't help it. Especially when it involves G. Gordon Liddy.

I read about this connection a long time ago, but no one had written a comprehensive article until recently.

The linked article I posted below also includes information that exposes Sen. McCain's land deals in exchange for huge campaign contributions.

WTF are you talking about? I doubt you even know who half those people are.

Instead of listing names of people who have nothing to do with Obama, which I could do about McCain, why don't you tell us--for instance--about Obama's connection to Kim Jong Il?

Actually I find it very important that America knows who Obama allies himself with at this moment. It is time for his 'door' to be opened to let the people in to get to know this guy Barack.

GOP corruption and terrorism has a way of repeating itself over and over and over.

Bush, McCain and the Old Iran-Contra Team

T he vetting of Sarah Palin for the McCain campaign by an Iran-Contra alumnus brought an epiphany. (See “ The Man Who Vetted Palin,” CounterPunch, September 8, 2008.) The American people’ s inability to control this crime spree we call the Bush administration is not because we’ re lazy, narcissistic or willfully blind to human rights violations, as much of the world now views us. It’ s because we’ ve been misidentifying this crime spree as “ the Bush administration.” What we’ re clearly confronting is the Iran-Contra Alumni Association masquerading as the Executive Branch, replete with domestic spying, dark ops, fake journalists, fake news reels, press intimidation, protester arrests, infiltration and torture. Their latest maneuver is the woman with zero foreign policy experience a heart beat from taking that 3 a.m. call. A call which, of course, they’ ll answer for her as they have done for Bush II.

              You know?
The biggest reason I waste my time here is, to try, to understand why so many people see things so differently than I.
Blows below the belt are a distraction.
But if one of the pugilists keeps taking aim there, he should be prepared to protect his own nuts. Makes it hard to keep the dukes up.
I would normally have avoided a story like this.
But I made the mistake of watching TV this week.

                  Hi Eagle_Eye.
Personally I don't think much of folks, that only consider one way to spell a word to be the right way.
But for the sake of propeller science,
                  Me too.
Please don't take offense, I had a bad day today, blew up a fancy Belgium table saw, and had a huge pile of sticks in front of it. And I cut a couple of hundred sticks the wrong length. I lost it with the 76 year old carpenter whom I am usually glad to work with.
I have been a jerk today.

Oh fly, you had one of those "bad day's"......so sorry to hear that, there are a lot of threads here that you can exert your "bad day energy force" onto, here's one for you:

                    http://www.propeller.com/story/2008/10/06/ayers-ob...

This one is just begging for a irritated fly to buzz them....

I will say a little prayer that tommorrow will be a better day, and regarding the 76 year old carpenter, one word comes to my mind right now for some reason "Patience", I don't know if that means any thing to you but that is the word God gave me. At 76 years of age it is wonderful this person can still be active with life versus being shut in.

I agree, Fly. I would normally have avoided reading stories like this too, let alone posting them. But when a candidate who makes so much noise about "honesty" and "straight talk" and "never going negative" then proceeds to launch the sort of attacks that would generally only be perpetrated by the loathsome external "swift boat" type organizations, and the point person in the attack is the impudent "I'll answer whatever questions I want to" V.P. candidate (who believes Dick Cheney didn't stretch the V.P. role far enough beyond the Constitutional provisions), I'm forced to act accordingly.

                  From the article:

Liddy has donated $5,000 to McCain's campaigns since 1998, including $1,000 in February 2008. In addition, McCain has appeared on Liddy's radio show during the presidential campaign, including as recently as May. An online video labeled "John McCain On The G. Gordon Liddy Show 11/8/07" includes a discussion between Liddy and McCain, whom Liddy described as an "old friend." During the segment, McCain praised Liddy's "adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great," said he was "proud" of Liddy, and said that "it's always a pleasure for me to come on your program."

So McSame and Liddy agree on principles such as burglary, and killing federal agents.

                      Not to mention bombing buildings:

                      http://mediamatters.org/items/200809190012

                      FTA:

"Liddy plotted to "firebomb" Brookings Institution. Liddy and Hunt believed that because of Ellsberg's past association with the Brookings Institution, classified or sensitive documents might be stored in the organization's security vault. Their plan to retrieve these supposed materials involved firebombing the building"

Sen. McCain has never denounced this man's actions. He's "proud" of his "old friend." He even held a (gasp!) fundraiser event at Liddy's house! Why haven't we heard about this? Is it because Liddy is now a member of the so-called "liberal media" and has somehow become legitimized by this? Note the subtitle of the article linked above:

"Despite attacks on media by McCain campaign, case studies show disparate coverage in McCain's favor"

The Nixon administration just keeps coming back to haunt us, doesn't it? Karl C Rove was a major fundraiser, Roger Ailes got his start, the wave of deregulation and privatization got rolling at the time, the amount of crime by public officials went up up up.

                                RIChris,
The other day a 90yr old Akron woman shot herself in the chest when sheriff deputies attempted to evict her. Today, the leading story on the news was about a 45yr old man in southern California who shot his entire family and then himself because of the financial crisis he was facing and saw no other option but to end it all in such a violent way.

There are REAL issues facing Americans today and all you and your fellow McCain supporters can do is create these fake lists of "bad guys" and hope people believe your rhetoric about them being linked to Obama. It is the ultimate act of desperation, and considering the state of things in today's world is beyond pathetic. Is "winning" so important that you have to resort to lies and deception while ignoring the severe crisis staring you in the face? Who cares if Americans are so desperate that they're choosing suicide as their best option in today's world, just as long as "your guy" wins the election?

I'll tell you what. When you mudslingers start living by your own rules and abiding by your own standards....THEN you might have some room to talk. If candidate's associations mattered so much to you all, why on earth did you reelect the man whose family was entertaining the bin Laden family on the very day that the planes were flying into buildings? The man who went so far as to help them fly out of the country before they could be questioned, so as not to spoil the relationship he and the rest of the Bush family had built with the bin Laden family. When you people start holding yourselves to the standard you pretend is so damned important, THEN you might have a little bit of credibility. Until then, these rants about supposed links between Obama and whoever you come up with will be seen for what they are.....a pathetically desperate attempt to win the unwinable.

Ok lets get all this straight.
Obama had no idea Reverend Wright preached hatred towards America, even though Obama attended his church for 20 years.

Obama had no idea that William Ayres is a domestic terrorist who planted bombs in Washington and other places and tried to kill as many Americans as he could.

Obama had no idea that Tony Rezko is a well know Chicago thug criminal.

The list goes on and on with that Obama guy, claiming he had no idea about the corrupt, criminal radical people he hangs around with.

Ok, lets give Obama the benefit of the doubt on all that.

Lets say, Obama really had no idea about these bad people he chooses to hang out with and do business with.

So that say's only one thing about Obama. Obama has the worst f*cking judgment of anyone in power. Do we want a president who can not make the right choices, do we want a president who has no clues how to make good judgments? NO WE DON'T...well, sane people surly don't!

I was watching CNN News last night, wow, you should hear those morons over there. The CNN spin on this is out of control.
Seems all the morons at CNN are simply giving Obama a pass on all this. They are wanting us to beleive that all this is in the past and none of it matters now.
They are wanting us to beleive that William Ayres is a good all American kind of guy now. Wow, the brain washing of the left wing Dem pea brains is really going into high gear at CNN.

It's OK now, William Ayres did what he did, and all is forgiven now. I say, only America haters think it's OK for terrorists to blow up our Government, even if it was in the past. What the hell is CNN thinking? Is the CNN's viewer base really going to buy that sh*t? I guess CNN and gang are hoping they buy it....

Wow, talk about poor judgment...read about John McCain's ties to his former interrogators and torturers in Viet Nam:

                                  http://www.newswithviews.com/Devvy/kidd60.htm

                                  FTA:

When one of McCain's former interrogators, Col Bui Tin, a former Senior Colonel in the North Vietnamese Army, testified before the Senate Select Committee, McCain did not display that same "pit bull" inclination to attack as he did for the POW/MIA families and activists. Col Tin told the committee that because of his high position in the Communist Party during the war, he had the right to "read all the documents and secret telegrams from the Politburo" pertaining to American prisoners of war. He said not only did the Soviets interrogate some American prisoners of war, but they treated them very badly.

During a break in the hearing, McCain warmly embraced Bui Tin as if he were a long lost brother. McCain fought a hard and successful campaign to get the U.S.-imposed trade embargo against Vietnam lifted, despite the opposition of all major veteran's organizations, the two POW/MIA family groups, and the majority of the Vietnamese Americans in this country. The veterans want to know why McCain, the "conservative" politician, takes such strong stand for the Vietnamese communists and against such patriotic groups.

The Rolling Stone article mentioned elsewhere in this thread also details (via the words of other soldiers imprisoned with him) Sen. McCain's deference to his captors. According to his fellow prisoners, he violated the code of conduct in giving up information to the Viet Cong.

He also openly had extramarital affairs upon returning from Viet Nam. This is an offense for which a Navy officer can and should face a court martial. Sen. McCain only dodged this fate due to the status of his Father, the Admiral.

As long as the Right feels Obama's past associations are fair game, the Left has no choice but to respond in kind.

I'd prefer to sh!tcan all this guilt-by-association muck, but, to be fair, the McCain campaign's stated strategy is to make this election about 'image' not 'issue'. It may be 'schoolyard' of me, but McCain started it, nyah nyah.

Perhaps you can't, but that doesn't necessarily make it so:

                                    http://mediamatters.org/items/200809190012

                                    FTA:

"Liddy was convicted for his role in the Watergate break-in, for conspiracy in the Daniel Ellsberg case and for contempt of court, spending about four and a half years in prison. In 1986, a federal appeals court found Liddy liable for $20,499 in back taxes on Watergate slush-fund money, rejecting his claim that his benefits did not exceed $45,000. As one of the White House 'plumbers,' Liddy spent about $300,000 engineering political dirty tricks and the Watergate break-in."

Convicted felon. Convicted conspirator. Also convicted for contempt of court (because he was "unrepentant"). Tax evader. Point man in perpetrating the most egregious scandal in the history of our country's executive branch.

                                    FTA:

"The war in Vietnam was fought on the streets of America too," he says. "It was lost here at home, by people who didn't have the Will to win. We had to get the people who wanted America to lose." Including killing columnists? "If they were traitors as Jack Andersen [sic] was, directly helping the enemy, then yes."

Liddy participated in Ellsberg psychiatrist break-in, prepared to kill someone "if necessary."

Liddy plotted with "gangland figure" to murder Hunt, a government witness. While in prison, Liddy came to the conclusion that White House officials might want his partner, Hunt, killed rather than risk Hunt cooperating with the Watergate grand jury. Liddy wrote in Will that he made plans to carry out such an assassination order

Wow, how many murder plots did this guy have up his sleeve? And he was going to work with the Mafia too??

                                    FTA:

Liddy plotted to "firebomb" Brookings Institution. Liddy and Hunt believed that because of Ellsberg's past association with the Brookings Institution, classified or sensitive documents might be stored in the organization's security vault. Their plan to retrieve these supposed materials involved firebombing the building

Bombings, multiple murder plots...this guy was ready to do whatever it took to continue his treasonous activities. Note that in the article it is mentioned that the only reason he did not pull off the Brookings bombing was due to the cost, not the moral implications.

Liddy writes about all these activities and plots in a very matter-of-fact way. He seems not to be at all bothered by his own treachery. Sen. John McCain has called him a "good friend," and has even held a campaign fundraiser at Liddy's house!.

The media has learned from the GORE fiasco. They almost succeeded in getting the republican voting public to stay home against Bush and Gore nearly won. They have learned from that fiasco and have started "declaring" that Obama is widening his lead (A lie!) I travel a lot on business and everywhere I go I see McCain signs outnumbering Obama signs, but to listen to the biased press, McCain is getting smoked. Please do not let the liberal media convince you that this is a rout and cause you not to go and vote. MSNBC won't post my comments because they are moderated out by pro-Obama supporters. Don't stay home even if they are "calling" the race for Obama weeks ahead of the election, they are trying to scare you away. All of the non-biased polls that I have seen have McCain winning so please don't let them scare you. They almost succeeded with Gore and now they realize that they have to start weeks ahead of election day instead of election day if they are going to get Obama in. Please carpool if you have to, drag your friends out to the voting polls. Let's show this biased media that they cannot scare us.

The Democrats blocked it and trying to through the blame on the Bush administration.. What a bunch of lying Donkeys. Better check the stats PIA-1. The Republicans controlled Congress at the time. Which means the Republican controlled committee did not pass the bill. Trying to blame the Democrats is going to backfire on you neo-clowns.

So does that make you a lying elephant? Probably not. You're probably one of those who parrot whatever you're told. Hopefully America is tired of these type of moroonie, baseless attacks.
