Dube Egwuatu was buying a mobile telephone top-up card in an off-licence when the gunman confronted him and glared at the top, which carries an image of the Democrat US presidential candidate underneath the legend 'Believe'.
The man then launched into a tirade of racist slurs, shouting 'I f***ing hate n*****s' and urging 36-year-old Mr Egwuatu to leave the shop with him.

It was a GAS fired pistol which is what we here in America call a pellet gun/pistol and the "ball bearings" are what we here in America call BB's. So assuming that the author of the story is correct that man was attacked by a gunman with a pellet gun loaded with BB's. Before you make a joke out of that, some of the high end pellet guns pack a powerful punch and if the shot had hit him in the eye, you might be reading a different story. -

It’s that character thing, Sarah Palin declares.
The GOP’s VP candidate defends her increasingly strident verbal assaults on Barack Obama as legitimate questions about the Democratic presidential candidate.
Well, for Charles Greg Royal, it’s that character thing also.
This internationally renowned jazz musician recently utilized the National Press Club in Washington, DC to recount a flirtatious encounter he had in Alaska with a woman who identified herself as Sarah Heath.
Royal said this encounter ended after a racist remark by the woman now known as Gov Sarah Palin.
Making that racist remark, Royal contends, coupled with Gov Palin’s disengaged relations with racial minorities in Alaska speaks volumes about her character.
“When you view what happened with me in the context with what is happening with blacks and other minorities in Alaska under Gov Palin, it is clear that what I encountered was not a fluke. It shows her character,” Royal said during an interview hours after that press conference in DC where he directs the American Youth Symphony, Inc.
While that racist remark reflects character, Royal said, the flirtation by a woman who did not reveal at the time that she was both married and pregnant speaks to “mortality and fidelity.”
Royal said that when performing with the Duke Ellington Band in Anchorage ....

Royal said he told Heath, “I’m a black man” and Sarah responded, “But, you’re not really black.”
When asked how he could possible remember a brief encounter so many years ago, Royal said, “there are a lot of details I do not remember but the key triggers are things anyone could remember and when a person says “I don’t talk to black guys” when the black guys are not actually trying to date you or talk to in anyway that is not a dating comment but a racist one.”

Most of the racist Democrats (many from the deep South) back in the 60s deserted the partry to join the Republicans. The single issue that drove them was the Civil Rights Act the Democrats under President Johnson was trying to pass through Congress.

Governor, Conservative groups have thus far spent ten million dollars this year trying to make something, anything, out of the brief interaction on a charity board between Sen. Obama, and a rehabilitated former domestic radical from the '60s and not even Conservatives have been stupid enough to buy the snake oil, that this was either a close relationship or a nefarious one.-

He's the preacher who visited the Wasilla Assembly of God church a couple of times while the Governor was there, ironically enough, just about as many times as Bill Ayres has met Barack Obama and, see, there was this one time where Pastor Muthee actually laid hands on the Governor.
The problem for the governor is that in 1999 The Christian Science Monitor reported that Pastor Muthee had gotten his start a decade earlier in Kenya, in the Nairobi suburb of Kiambu.
Kimabu was crime-ridden. So this character Muthee showed up, and announced it was the fault of this woman in town who he had decided was a witch. And Muthee gave the witch a choice: either be saved, or get out of town.
And the woman initially chose none of the above, but this became less than a viable option when Muthee got 200 of the townspeople together and they decided, heck, you know, Muthee's right, she probably is a witch, and the next thing you know the police are raiding her house and reportedly shooting her snake because if she was a witch, the snake had to be a demon, and then the woman left town and everybody said crime went down and most of the bars closed and this is not only how Pastor Muthee got started but he's proud of it and he tells the story in his testimonial videotapes and people in that church in Wasilla where he laid hands on the Governor knew all about it.
And they think it was just a Joe-Six-Pack, Hockey Mom kinda thing to do, to let a guy who branded some woman in Kenya a witch, demand that God make some different woman the Governor of Alaska!...

Have you ever used the word appeaser? Describes you to a tee. Giving excuses for uttering the expletive "kill him" in CONTEXT of a political campaign is inexcusable. It is not the same as shouting "kill him" at a sporting event. I have heard "kill 'em" at a lot of events. It normally means that they are exhorting their team or person to overcome the opponent. At wrestling matches I have heard "Break his arm off and hit him with the bloody end of it." Do you think they literally meant that? Only at a time like this will people try to make it mean something else. The person was most likely telling Palin to "kill him" by attacking Obama with words and put him down verbally.

I don't support many of Bush's views, but I hardly think you can blame the state of our economy solely on Bush when Democrats have the majority in Congress. This whole housing crisis started with Clinton when he basically took out the Glass-Stegall Act and Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999. Yes, it helped our economy make record income for a couple years, but it killed bank and financial institution regulation which is a huge part of this mess we're in right now. Furthermore, Clinton pushed to reform the Community Reinvestment Act in order to "deal with the problems of the inner city and distressed rural communities" by offering them loans they cannot afford. I am all for equal rights, but if you don't have the money to pay for a home, don't give the loan! Most of these people were a guarantee default on loan payments, but the government forced banks to GIVE loans to these people that clearly could not afford them to be FAIR. I don't think it's FAIR that everyone should have to suffer from these STUPID people that are defaulting loans, but life isn't fair, so we'll deal with it and hopefully learn from this event.
I'm not trying to blame Clinton for everything, and he did do a lot of good for our country, but I'm trying to make a point that it takes a couple years for the effects of these type of economic decisions to show up. Bush has made MANY poor decisions as well, but he's not the one to blame for our weak economy. The whole government, greedy consumers running up credit cards and taking our loans, banks and financial institutions pushing loans they knew would default, among too many other factors to mention.-

The whole government, greedy consumers running up credit cards and taking our loans, banks and financial institutions pushing loans they knew would default, among too many other factors to mention. Our country is one of the most greedy and selfish countries in world. An economic recession might be good for some people and help them realize how fortunate we are to live in this country. I would never hope for any sort of recession, I just wish people could be more grateful for what they have and stop worrying about what they don't have.

Good grief. I was going to comment on the fact that the article shows that the victim also happens to be a black man. Maybe the shooter, who didn't like black people, was focusing on the person and not the shirt. What a clusterf*ck this thread has turned into.

Ok, Republican Hypocrites. If, during a Palin campaign stop, someone in the audience shouts "Death to America," what would be your response and that of Palin's? Yeah, Now it's a different story, I'll bet. Any candidate running for the office of these United States must stick up for her principles. After all, even Obama had to apologize for Rev. I think that this is absolutely awful, it doesn't matter if he is purple if you stop and think about it we probably all have black in us down the line. There are black people that are sweet as can be and then there are also nigers, there are also white people and there are also hosiers. When I visited Jacksonville, Florida 10 years ago I made a stop at a local restaurant for lunch. There was a group of young men next to our table who behavied in an obnoxious manner to the point that we felt unconfertable since we were not white like most people there. I spoke to the manager and was kind enough to move us to a freindlier side where people were more civil. Bottom line, racism extists all over but, there is a balance that takes place when people like the manager do their part to ease the hate.

What confuses me most of all is why is this front page? The weapon of choice was a BB gun. Was a crime committed, yes. But any attack on a government employee is bad and should be punished to the fullest degree of the law. Unless the laws have changed, this is a minor crime in the UK. They have no hate crime enhancers in their legal system. An attack with a BB gun will be treated lightly at best.
