      The rolling tracking poll surveyed 1,237 likely voters in the presidential election. In a tracking poll, the most recent day's results are added while the oldest day's results are dropped in an effort to track changing momentum.

        You have to take most 'polls' with a grain of salt because most are extemely biased. As long as McCain is in the neighborhood, it is a toss-up (McCain to win).

        Let's see what happens after tonight's debate. Maybe things will improve more.

        Ayres and ACORN are both becoming a pain in Obama's azz now. McCain is talking about Ayers today, maybe he will bring him up tonight.

        If it has not been said already it is probably worth noting that at this time in 2000 Al Gore led Bush by 11 points in the polls...

        McCain needs to put the spotlight on Obama. As long as Obama is in the spotlight people will be paying attention to what is being brought up. If people are paying attention to McCain nobody will know about any of these issues.

        I'm tired of seeing polls.....they do nothing for us.

        From what I've been seeing the original bump from Palin has worn off and things are falling back to normal, if not going worse. Lots of things have been being said by Palin that flat out scare people. Obama seems to be gaining a solid edge and its going to be interesting to see if he can hold the lead. McCain is going to have to preform very well in the debates if he wants to have a chance come November.

        After watching the first twenty minutes of this debate, Obama's going to run away with this election. I think Mccain is a decent person, but a horrible candidate.

        Nighttime; and the 'Circus 2008' is closing.

        The circus booths are shutting down, while happy customers wander down the boardwalk, towards their cars.

        But Wolfie2007 still shouts from his carnie stage,
        See amazing McCain the sword-swallower, as he forces down his own throat, the incredible Bush blade of Death! ...

        A family passes, their kids holding giant Obama teddy bears.
        They yawn sleepily and keep on walking.

        Wolfie2007 shouts louder,
        - See the amazing the terrifying predator from alaska as she bites the hide off a moose!

        No one stops.
        The last twilight fades;
        it's night;
        the circus closes,
        It is over .

          McCain hasn't been within 5 points in any real polls all week, and after watching him tonight, I doubt it's going to get better tomorrow.

          The "debate" was predictable. Even though McCain backed better oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, he is being blamed for the meltdown because of the (R) next to his name. Even though it was mainly Democrats who fought the oversight, the people are blaming the Republicans. Even though Alec Baldwin nailed Rep. Frank for the problems, the people still blame Bush, thus McCain.

          There are two things that could be game changers, and both are out of the hands of the candidates.

          The first is the "William Ayers, Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, etc. stuff." CNN has now joined Fox in questioning Obama's claim of a small connection to Ayers when the release of papers by University of Chicago says otherwise. Rezko is spilling his guts to avoid prison, though it's probably the governor and not Obama that is in trouble. Wright is always a wildcard.

          The second is Israel and Iran. If Israel decides to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities before the election, that could swing the election to McCain overnight.

          One other possible factor if the election is close is the so-called "Bradley Effect" in which people veil their racism by saying that they will vote Obama, but then choose not to because of his ethnicity.

          All I heard from Obama tonigh were his and his campaign staff's canned talking points. He sounded like he was recorded a few times. I've heard them so much myself I can repeat them verbatim.

          I can't believe that the american people are so stupid to vote for someone who has no significant accomplishments in his political life. But the Germans did and look at what they got. Hitler

          Wolfie- Who's is this guy? He'd probably vote for Bush again. He'd be saying "yeh, yeh give me some more of that."

          What a moron.

            i'm amazed we all watched the same thing and saw it all so differently.

            obama was by far the most thoughtful, coherent and responsive of the two candidates. if you watched the focus group meter of undecided voters on CNN, obama pegged it out more often and for longer duration.

            this is a man of substance, energy and compassion; not an angry old guy who's main accomplishments over the last couple of decades led directly to the economic meltdown we are all experiencing.

            as for experience, only an incumbent can claim appropriate experience. when the mantle of the world falls on your shoulders when you take the oath of office, all bets are off. there isn't enough "other" experience in the world to compensate. further, in my view, "experience" is code for cronyism.

            aren't you conservative posters fed up too? the republican leadership has been making you all kinds of promises for the past 28 years...have they delivered? have they outlawed abortion? have they improved our economy? have they helped the poor and disadvantaged? do you really feel safer?

            if you answered yes to any of those questions, my conclusion is that you must be completely deluded.
