I did not see anything surprising or unexpected in this poll. Most people remain very uncomfortable with Obama and his policies of raising taxes and slashing national defense. As people begin to focus on the race, it will tighten considerably. Whether that is enough for Palin and McCain to win is another question.

I look at the realclear polls, Obama has dropped from 6.3 to 5.5.

Obama was so boring tonight.
No matter what the question, he gave the same answers, almost word for word, that he used for the last debate. -

Polls are like statistics and accounting statements, not to be believed unless you falsified them your self. Polls were even for Reagan vs Carter, the election was a landslide for Reagan. 487 to 49 electoral votes. Hope we see the same for Mc Cain.

Well ... at least I didn't have to listen to my fellow Christian Conservatives whine about Liberal bias from the moderator..... like they whined about Gwen Ifil.
Reply
And why not?
Tom Brokaw is one of their own.
A Mainstream Media Suit heavily biased to the Right. He's admitted to entering into negotiations with the McCain camp prior to the debates.
More evidence that the Liberal Bias In Media claim is simply a CHEAT .... a Cheat to gain Special Consideration for their candidates and their Morally Vacant Ideology.

The rolling tracking poll surveyed 1,237 likely voters in the presidential election. In a tracking poll, the most recent day's results are added while the oldest day's results are dropped in an effort to track changing momentum. -

You have to take most 'polls' with a grain of salt because most are extemely biased. As long as McCain is in the neighborhood, it is a toss-up (McCain to win).

Wasn't brought up, thank goodness, would have been suicide for McCain to do so. As an aside, don't you notice how Obama disavows any knowledge/relationship with anyone that is controversial AFTER he started campaigning? If he's elected it's kinda scary if he reestablishes those relationships.

If it has not been said already it is probably worth noting that at this time in 2000 Al Gore led Bush by 11 points in the polls...

Yes abntv, I pointed this stat out to a co-worker today. Exactly right. And further, the democrats have been ahead in many races on to lose to the the Republican candidate.

Very worth pointing out. Indeed!

Care to cite that abntv? Bush led Gore all through October, he had a 2 point lead on Oct. 6, 2000, cited by my link.

It is probably worth noting that we don't elect a President with a popular vote, so national polls don't always give the full picture anyways.

I'm tired of seeing polls.....they do nothing for us.

From what I've been seeing the original bump from Palin has worn off and things are falling back to normal, if not going worse. Lots of things have been being said by Palin that flat out scare people. Obama seems to be gaining a solid edge and its going to be interesting to see if he can hold the lead. McCain is going to have to preform very well in the debates if he wants to have a chance come November. -

Nighttime; and the 'Circus 2008' is closing.
Reply
The circus booths are shutting down, while happy customers wander down the boardwalk, towards their cars.
But Wolfie2007 still shouts from his carnie stage,
See amazing McCain the sword-swallower, as he forces down his own throat, the incredible Bush blade of Death! ...
A family passes, their kids holding giant Obama teddy bears.
They yawn sleepily and keep on walking.
Wolfie2007 shouts louder,
- See the amazing the terrifying predator from alaska as she bites the hide off a moose!
No one stops.
The last twilight fades;
it's night;
the circus closes,
It is over . -

Two term state Senator, 12 years teaching constitutional law, a term as US Senator.

There's lots more, but that definitely qualifies him as a candidate beyond most. What do you want?
Heck, just google him yourself. That you haven't already speaks volumes.

The "debate" was predictable. Even though McCain backed better oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, he is being blamed for the meltdown because of the (R) next to his name. Even though it was mainly Democrats who fought the oversight, the people are blaming the Republicans. Even though Alec Baldwin nailed Rep. Frank for the problems, the people still blame Bush, thus McCain.

There are two things that could be game changers, and both are out of the hands of the candidates.
The first is the "William Ayers, Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, etc. stuff." CNN has now joined Fox in questioning Obama's claim of a small connection to Ayers when the release of papers by University of Chicago says otherwise. Rezko is spilling his guts to avoid prison, though it's probably the governor and not Obama that is in trouble. Wright is always a wildcard.
The second is Israel and Iran. If Israel decides to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities before the election, that could swing the election to McCain overnight.
One other possible factor if the election is close is the so-called "Bradley Effect" in which people veil their racism by saying that they will vote Obama, but then choose not to because of his ethnicity.-

Reply
Wright is old news. Ayers MAY be a wildcard, but it's unlikely, as the Keating 5 stuff will come out as well, and it will be viewed as mudslinging on boths sides by most.
I don't think the average American voter is that concerned with Israel bombing Iran, what with the economy and all. We'll see. I could be wrong on that one.
Bradley Effect? Not a chance in the world. -

Palin and McSame both had much more controversial and idiotic pastors who were completely insane, yet the double lying standard of the right wing militant facist brown shirt loyalists who are incabable and too yellow bellied to examine their own satetments out of pure hatred for anyone who can think for them selves and doest follow the facist racist party lines, like you have described in your sickening cynical idiotic post.
So, you ignore the fact that5 McSenile's pastor was preaching the holocaust was gods plan to creat a christian zionist rapture, and Palins pastor was a freaking witch doctor, and she supports book burning and creationism 50 years after the scopes monkey trial.
What a pack of ignorant subhumans you GOP'ers are

i'm amazed we all watched the same thing and saw it all so differently.
Reply
obama was by far the most thoughtful, coherent and responsive of the two candidates. if you watched the focus group meter of undecided voters on CNN, obama pegged it out more often and for longer duration.
this is a man of substance, energy and compassion; not an angry old guy who's main accomplishments over the last couple of decades led directly to the economic meltdown we are all experiencing.
as for experience, only an incumbent can claim appropriate experience. when the mantle of the world falls on your shoulders when you take the oath of office, all bets are off. there isn't enough "other" experience in the world to compensate. further, in my view, "experience" is code for cronyism.
aren't you conservative posters fed up too? the republican leadership has been making you all kinds of promises for the past 28 years...have they delivered? have they outlawed abortion? have they improved our economy? have they helped the poor and disadvantaged? do you really feel safer?
if you answered yes to any of those questions, my conclusion is that you must be completely deluded.-

Cleare, don't wast your breath trying to convince the "die hard" CONS here. They are birds of a feather. They don't care to logically anaylze what someone says. Using critical thinking skills would invalidate "their potential racist and anti-American" sentiments.

If Fox Noise tells them "Obama is a muslim" they believe it. Then a week later Fox Noise tells them "Obama's Christian Pastor made some harsh statements about race." These people won't even question that the two accusations are mutually exclusive. That is how stupid these people think. The conclusion can only be that they "love a lie" if it slanders someone who they don't like. They don't want to admit they are wrong or that they have some prejudicial reason which they can't justify publically. -
