Did you listen to the details and clarity of his plan?

I guess if it's a full sentend or more than a few words like "flag" or "country" your Republican eyes glaze over.
They depend on good CON voters like you who believe McCain's BS.-

No, I don't think we will.
Reply
Because I don't think McCain has a chance in hell of winning this election.
Could any Republican have won? Probably not.
What will happen is Obama will be handed Bush's pi$$-poor economy, he will try like mad to fix it, and will fail, because you can't fix in 4 years what took 8 years to screw up. He will most likely be a one term President, and for twenty or so years afterwords will be blamed for the worst effects of BUSH's economy.......much like Jimmy Carter was.-

Or he could fix it...if you take the best minds in the country and put them to work like Clinton did, you can fix it enough to win the second term. If you put your unqualified buddies like bush did you will only last one term.
Reply
Clinton said it best about Obama, I don't know how many of you were listening because the talking heads focused on what he said about Biden and not what he said about Obama.
" Obama will win,Obama will fix this mess Clinton said because he have all the economic minds I had in my office as his advisers. After they advised him he called some other guys and then he called me."
Clinton went on to say that what he like about Obama is he said look, I don't understand this thing so make me understand it...don't tell me what to say to the American people to appease them tell me what needs to be done, make me understand this thing !"
That is what you look for in a leader, one who gathers the best at what they do and ask them instead of just being the decider! It is a sign of a wise person that admits he or she doesn't know and ask those who does. McCain is asking the builder of this mess we are in now for advise. I disagree that Obama will last one term, if he wins, and from the looks of things he will have both houses of congress to work with. I think he will fix this in short order...unless the rich decides to gang up on him and make bad bets...and even that is far fetched because more than anything they like their Money.
Obama can only fail if whites decide they will shoot themselves in the feet to make sure we never elect another black president like they did to Dinkins in NY. It's not a raciest statement it's a fact of the American experience...in the same vane if white America stand by him we will all prosper!-

Even if the changes Obama institutes fix this economy, it will take time for them to come into play, possibly even after the one term is over. The next Republican hack that goes in will be able to ride high on the economy and take all the credit for it.

No we won't. But here's something for you to think about; Where the hell do you suppose he would get the money to buy those mortgages? His "freeze" on spending? What spending? It sounds purty, but what is he talking about? Try thinking critically for a change.

Government intervention may lengthen the cycle but it can not stop the boom to bust. The last thing we need is an amateur at the helm, the ship is close enough to sinking without a rookie in charge. I originally posted this before ( about three weeks ago )the Scam Bailout, since then things have accelerated, but that only lengthens the recovery time. In about a year and a half, when the real estate market is at 50 percent, and DOW has stabilized at between 7800-8000, NASDAQ 900-950, S 700-750, it will be the bottom. Then it will be safe to go back. Until then it is a Day trader's market. Gambler's paradise. The bailout is just a waste of resources. In fact it will compound the problem. Much like the physicians of old who would bleed the patient, to give the appearance of action. The Scam Bailout is an action to give the appearance of care and concern, but will in truth deplete needed resources for healing and extend the time required for recovery. We are looking at a very rough 3 to 6 years, according to who is president and how much more Socialistic debt is added.

You are absolutely correct
They are trying to put a floor under the housing market but the effort will fail and only prolong the correction that needs to occur
We will end up with a deeper and longer recession as a result
Also the attention is being focused on foreclosures in the moderately priced homes
There are 1.8 million subprime mortgages that are scheduled to reset to higher rates this year and in 2009 - so-called "jumbo" mortgages, loans higher than $417,000.
In 2009, “prime” foreclosures will become the new front-page news. It turns out that prime loans were just about as rotten as subprime
The few analysts that are talking about the jumbos believe that in 2009 the foreclosures will start to outnumber homes being sold in many areas of the country. -

Amervtrn _ Your point would hold water if history didn't say otherwise...under the most seasoned of politicians this nation has suffered the most. Take Nixon for example, and the president name slips my mind at this point, however at the turn of the century he was considered the most seasoned politician in all the land, and turned out to be the worse president we have ever had until Bush! It's those that have not been engulfed by the politics as usual that brings the fresh Ideas to change things.
Reply
Take JFK for example he moved this nation forward in his brief time in the office, but his fresh ideas started a revolution in thinking and creation in this country. They said he was too green also.
I think the same was said of Clinton by the first bush and this nation lived through one of it's best economic and global leadership seasons under him. So your point that we some how need an older man with antiquated ideas to fix a problem he help create just doesn't make any sense to those who are truly listening and learning from the candidates!
If we elect McCain we will get more of the same, he has said so in every debate and on the campaign stump. "we should keep the current tax situation and make it predominant" this is the bush tax policy, here is my question, have McCain taken stock of our current economical situation...it's an abysmal failure, to suggest keeping any economic implementation made by bush is to show ones questionable judgment.
It didn't work it created this mess it should be taken out back and set on fire! -

I disagree amervtrn - I think worse case scenario we are looking 2.5 years for a correction. If Obama gets in and implement his green initiatives (energy) and the rebuilding of our bridges and roadways putting people back to work I think you will see a quick turn around.
Reply
What he needs to do if he wins, the next day show up for work give his guys 100 days to show some improvement, 200 to show marked improvement...get the smartest people in the country in each field and pound them until the tides turn. I would even consider Giving Greenspan a six month run while he train his replacement!
The fed chairmans ego got the best of this country...he wanted to distinguish himself so much from Greenspan that he ran rough shots over everything he had put into place.
I am not one that believes that after 8 years you get to blame the guy before you...especially when you had the houses and the presidency for over five years, don't tell me the other guy did it. If you had hired the best people you would have known where the leaks were and stop them...an example, the woman that were in office before Gonzales...she was a C list lawyer at best, and yet she was assigned the highest law position in the land. It's decisions like this that got us into this mess and the character assassination of those that stood up to this freaking president.
If Obama listen which I think he will all will be well in short order! And i think the market will stad at 9700 we will see it stabilize in 2 months or so or even sooner. The panic will end soon.

McCain did an excellent job but not good enough to raise his percentage in the polls. Obama failed miserably by not answering a lot of pre-determined questions but so did McCain, just not as many. McCain was a lot more composed and professional whereas Obama stumbled because he couldn't find his place on his script. McCain scored big when he talked to the guests face to face and shook the hand of the Marine Vet. I would like to hear McCain's answer as to what he actually meant by "That one ..." when referring (?) to Obama.

What you describe as "boring" is in fact Obama's "steady hand at the wheel." - he keeps a cool head and thinks clearly when under pressure. He has the temperment to be a very effective President. You'll never see him make a crackpot remark like McCain did when he - out of the blue - attacked the moderator with "Not YOU Tom"
Reply
McCain's heavy, labored breathing into the microphone really creeped me out. It sounded like he was running a marathon, not just having a discussion. It kept reminding me that he might well not last four years and his choice for "second in command" would be in charge of the free world. *shudder*
