Sen Obama's best strategy, and the only one that seems to provide lasting impact, is to paint McC as the reincarnation of Bush. Personally, I don't buy it: McC seems to me to be a better person and also a better politician (one of the few times I can use the word in a positive sense).

But to the extent the Obama campaign can convince the public of this, his chances improve.-

This has been their game plan since the "change you can believe in" failed with Bidens name being brought into the picture. Now he's only got namecalling, attacking Sarah Palin and "paint McC as the reincarnation of Bush" strategy left. What a way to win the presidency, huh?

Wasn't brought up, thank goodness, would have been suicide for McCain to do so. As an aside, don't you notice how Obama disavows any knowledge/relationship with anyone that is controversial AFTER he started campaigning? If he's elected it's kinda scary if he reestablishes those relationships.

You could tell the libs that Bill and Hillary robbed a bank today and a lib will always find a way to spin it by saying that he was planning on giving the money to the poor or something ridiculous and idiotic...
People like Cleare will NEVER be convinced otherwise that Barack is wrong for the country....You could tell him/her that Osama sat on many boards and jump-started his career with a known terrorist, Bill Ayers....Hung out with a radical american-hating Reverand for 20 years....sat in his pews and claimed he never heard the white-hating, America bashing speech that Wright had been known for for many years.....
I know...I know....Guilt by association....That's the libs new spin on this....But one fly in the ointment that needs to be mentioned....Not only did Barack sit on many boards with Bill Ayers, but Barack was given 50 million dollars by Ayers not for the schools that Bill Ayers talked about, but to radical organizations like ACORN....
So there is more than "guilt by association" here.....And I will say this again until I am blue in the face....When you are running for office or think there might be a chance of becoming the next president of the United States, you don't hang with people like these....
If I was running for office and hung around with KKK members in my youth, maybe went to a few meeting but never burned any crosses or got arrested...What do you think my chances are for becoming President of the United States ? Slim to none ? Probably...Yet, for some reason, Barack Apollo Obama gets a pass...He gets a pass from the media, he gets a pass from liberals, and no one seems to give a damn....
HE'S RUNNING FOR THE MOST POWERFUL POSITION IN THE WORLD FOR CRYING OUT LOUD !!! These questions need to be answered before we hand over the country to this loser....
I can see why he wants to meet with ahmadinijad and chavez now...That's where he's most comfortable....Hanging around with terrorist and thugs....-

It is probably worth noting that we don't elect a President with a popular vote, so national polls don't always give the full picture anyways.

From what I've been seeing the original bump from Palin has worn off and things are falling back to normal, if not going worse. Lots of things have been being said by Palin that flat out scare people. Obama seems to be gaining a solid edge and its going to be interesting to see if he can hold the lead. McCain is going to have to preform very well in the debates if he wants to have a chance come November. -

A family passes, their kids holding giant Obama teddy bears.

in fact, it has taken a lot of courage, determination, discipline and stamina for him to have made it to where he is today.
on the other hand, it appears mccain pretty much squandered the blessings he was born with. naughty at the academy and accumulating demerits, while obama made the harvard law review.
it's too bad too, because i used to respect mccain and if he'd have won the primary in 2000, i would have been sanguine. (voted for Nader, didn't particularly like gore) and i think he would have been a far better president than bush. but he let himself be swiftboated and then sucked up to the slimeballs who did it to him. i haven't had a shred of respect for him since.-

obama was by far the most thoughtful, coherent and responsive of the two candidates. if you watched the focus group meter of undecided voters on CNN, obama pegged it out more often and for longer duration.
this is a man of substance, energy and compassion; not an angry old guy who's main accomplishments over the last couple of decades led directly to the economic meltdown we are all experiencing.
as for experience, only an incumbent can claim appropriate experience. when the mantle of the world falls on your shoulders when you take the oath of office, all bets are off. there isn't enough "other" experience in the world to compensate. further, in my view, "experience" is code for cronyism.
aren't you conservative posters fed up too? the republican leadership has been making you all kinds of promises for the past 28 years...have they delivered? have they outlawed abortion? have they improved our economy? have they helped the poor and disadvantaged? do you really feel safer?
if you answered yes to any of those questions, my conclusion is that you must be completely deluded.-

no one believes obama is going to lead us to utopia (that's what you meant, isn't it?) but we do think he can help us make it through white water with most of us rowing in the same direction. he can also improve the perception of america and americans worldwide. i think we can redeem ourselves a little in the eyes of the rest of the world (and maybe in the eyes of god) from the horror we've inflicted on iraq, by electing a poised, articulate, thoughtful man named barak hussein obama.

I am not what you think I am. I hate ignorance and the CON. I don't favor the Dem's, particularly, other than the fact that they've fielded the only competent electable candidates for my entire life.
Simple fact is, the Republicans gave us AS THEIR PLATFORM all the issues and problems that we are facing on a platter today. All the claims this week to the contrary, that somehow the meltdown is the fault of the Dems rather than the fault of sheister business dealings and consumer fraud by major corporations made possible only by the deregulatory policies of the GOP, is poppycock.
Obama is the only real candidate in the race, simply because he hasn't been sucking the arse of the GOP for the last thirty years. Heck, McCain gave them tongue for the last 8 that they've been blatantly STEALING OUR MONEY HAND OVER FIST. If you believe otherwise, you're either stupid or brainwashed, because we've WATCHED THEM DO IT.

What we are looking at here is the simultaneous melt down of financial system and the Republican party. Reagen's revolution is dead. Unfortunately, its a bit of a Pyrrhic victory. While I am certain Obama will win in November, its almost like winning a chance to swim in Shark infested waters. Nothing any leader can do right now can stop the pain. Thanks, I was looking for just such a metaphor but couldn't come up with one. We should not underestimate Obama, however. I know he will bring some positive changes to government. The fact is that he will have a Democratic majority in both houses and this alone should make matters easier for getting things done. Only the Roberts court will be a problem.

So much like Bush who preferred to disregard the warnings of the Clinton administration who provided proof of bin Laden's intentions. The paper passed by the CIA to the Bush Whitehouse was similarly disregarded.

Zogby and Rassmussen constently lean Republican where as 16 other polls have the race no closer than 5 points. Secondly, it's common knowledge that every poll will tighten before an election. If anyone actually studied politics and Polls, the month before every Election Polls tighten. Given the race was fairly close, I am not at all shocked. BUT what we must look at is the Electoral Map. Right now Obama has pretty much locked up 264 electorate with Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Nevada and VA consistently leaning more his way. Obama needs 1 state with 5 of the 7 swing states leaning his way. McCain needs to sweep them all. The current Odds put McCain at around a 12% chance of winning now.

Btw, CNN's fact chack already cleared Obama. He had only limited ties to Ayers at best. They are hardly close. Worked together sure but guess what, Ayers is not in jail and a Professor. He's not exactly seen as a terrorist. He's seen as a well respected man of society in Chicago where he consistently fights for the lower class. Now I'm not condoning his violence. I'm merely saying the man Obama has associated with was not the man he once was. Obama was 7 when Ayers was blowing up sh**. Obama hardly helped him. Instead, he joined with him on a board of people where Ayers was among the group. He then worked with a well respected Citizen. Why is it ok for McLaim to associate with Keeting or Palin to use her influence to railroad a man out of a job OR for her to illegally avoid paying taxes (A federal crime) and not Okay for Obama to know a man who chicago loves and who isn't being investigated for a thing any more. And who has won the Outstanding Citizen award or some such.

I'm tired of the Negativity. I'm sick of the fear mongering politics. At this point I'd vote for a Clown if he made me smile for once. Obama is a Harvard Law Grad. Graduated Columbia. First ever African American to lead the Harvard Law review. He is a brilliant man with a vision. He may be inexperienced but so was John F. Kennedy and He's rated one of our all time best Presidents. So go ahead Neocons, lie about or manipulate all the facts you want. Bottom line is this, unless a miracle occurs for McLaim, Obama is your next President. All Hail the Chief. President Obama. May God show him a bit of favor in the brutal Job he'll have.-

.....CNN is part of the left leaning media, so their "clearing" of Obama means nothing.
"He had only limited ties to Ayers at best. They are hardly close."
....I wish I hardly knew someone so well that they would launch my political carrer and donate thousands of dollars to my campaign.
"Ayers is not in jail"
.....He was originally charged, but the charges were dropped because of "prosicutorial misconduct". They could not charge him again because of double jeopardy laws. The other people who were with him were charged and sentenced though, he just got lucky.
"First ever African American to lead the Harvard Law review."
.....He was not the first, the review has an affirmitive action rule which puts a certain number of minorities into the position. If you check your facts, the time he spent as the president of the Harvard review, he never wrote a single word. So much for being a brilliant man with a vision.
"a man who chicago loves"
... I grew up in Chicago, he's just another crook there.-

On Tuesday's "debate": I guess it is better to have these things than not, but all the "debates" are just recitations of prepared talking points, not answers to questions. Its really funny that so many commeters said Sarah memorized the answers. All I saw last night from both candidates were memorized answers. They each had a list of things they were going to say no matter what the questions were. Maybe it would be better to have an open free for all with just the two candidates going back and forth with each other.
