Most of Petraeus' statements have favored Obama's positions.

    No surprise there.

The surprise is that Bush hasn't managed to fire him yet.

Look how many generals that Bush had to go through to get one to use the correct anti-insurgency strategy in Iraq - Medal winner Franks who had no plan for after taking Baghdad, torturing Sanchez and Casey. Odierno as a division commander was one of those guys who just did sweeps and anybody he picked up went to Abu Ghraib - he's definitely a Bush sycophant promoted for his thinking everybody was a terrorist!

Putting an admiral in charge of 2 ground wars was another Bush management failure and what good has naming another general to be the "War Czar" done! No wonder so much perpetual failure unaccompanied with the political success the surge was supposed to bring! Iraq can be a Shia'a theocracy tomorrow like Iran!

Petraeus just illustrates the deep distrust all the military has developed toward Bush in particular and the Repugs in general who wouldn't support the Webb GI bIll and won't permit our Sadam tortured soldiers to sue Iraq, while foreign companies have been allowed to do so! Body/HMMWV armor and MWRAP failures too!

Bush used Patraeus to support his "surge" policy. Afterwards Patraeus played nice and said "it's a success" and he was promptly promoted. It would be difficult for Bush to go against Patraeus after promoting him, but nothing surprises me after the last 8 years.

We have a really bad bunch of people running the country. Frankly, they are not patriots though they wear flag pins.
