But, our gradual departure from Iraq will gradually allow more forces in Afganistan to be used as necessay against the real perpetrators of 911.... finally, Dumya's "cut and run" from Afghanistan will be reversed!

Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan failed due to resources already being dedicated to Iraq - Naylor wrote a great book on it, "NOT A GOOD DAY TO DIE". Anyway, like tora Bora Dumya let over 1200 taliban/Al Qaeda escape the Senikot valley to pakistan!

  Heard on the CBC that Saudi, Afgan and the Taliban might hold peace talks in Mecca; now is that a slap in the face by Saudi on USA ?
  They finance, support and some even flew the planes and now they may host peace talks; great allies.

  donald - Thanks for pointing out that Bush cut and ran out of Afghanistan.
  What neocons fail to appreciate is that continuing the fight in Iraq and even achieving "victory" there (whatever that means to McCain) is really meaningless.
  It is equivalent to making a slash on the dragon's tail.
  
  To kill the dragon, you have to cut off its head. And that head happens to live in Afghanistan (or Pakistan). Ironically and appropriately enough, the dragon lives in a cave there (I think).

      If my kids ever thought that I wanted to go off to Afghanistan to cut off Puff's head, they would disown me.
      Thankfully I just have to go to Kauai to talk to Puff and give him a great big hug.
