What is it with the McCain campaign....using songs without permission? It's a copyright infringement. It happened to Heart with "Barracuda" and now with the Foo Fighters. Were there others...I don't know...

They do have lawyers on the campaign trail, don't they?
Or is it that they [McCain's people] know it's against the law, and also know by the time it goes anywhere legally, the campaign will be over and nothing can be done about it.
That's the likely answer...

Jackson Brown's "Runnin' on Empty, Heart's "Barracuda". Johnney, next time try Laurence Welk, he's more your age group and style. Plus he can't sue you like everybody else because he's dead.

How about Pink Floyd's: "Comfortably Numb"? That seems more appropiate for Johnny.

I thought the Republican pirate types would use the song "have a nice day" or "I can't stop loosing."

This is the second time, at least, that they've done this! What the hell? Read the law on issues like these if you wanna use the song in that context! I mean, if he wants to do this, he needs to push for legalizing illegally downloading music!

Let's see:

previous to the Foo fighters, Heart told the McCain handlers to stop using 'baracuda';
and John Mellencamp told them to stop using 'Little Pink Houses';
and we remember when Springsteen told Reagan to stop using 'Born in the USA'.
So what song can the McCain camp use for a theme?
I vote CCR's 'Fortunate Son'!
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief",
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no,
Yeah!
Of course, American Idiot would work too. -

There seems to be an awful lot of this going on! I think after the first time I was sued, I'd probably think to ask permission.

It is becoming harder to enjoy a genre of music when they make every effort to show there distain for the same country that allowed them to prosper.

A better Foo Fighters song pick would have been 'Monkey Wrench'.
