So now that Barack Obama's membership in the far left New Party has been unearthed, will they report his membership in that Socialist organization?

I am not surprised but I am surprised this information was unearthed. Great post, thanks Pinky. I doubt if the msm even mentions it unless they are forced to talk about it. Fox did a news story on it tonight on the Britt Hume hour.

Here's what I'm surprised at.
Reply
I'm surprised how little my fellow Christian Conservatives understand the labels they throw around.
For instance .... the current President ... the one y'all voted for ... is the closest thing to pure Socialist in our generation. MUCH more than Clinton ever was ... and more likely more than Obama.
Think I'm kidding?
Look at what has just happened.
GW came out of the White House a couple weeks ago to say that the Governement has to BAIL OUT Wall Street because 'Wall Street was taking losses'. (This was three weeks after telling the nation the economic fundamentals were strong)
It soon became apparent that the bill GeeDub was agitating for was a MASSIVE bailout ... with NO ACCOUNTABILITY and NO OVERSIGHT ... and no way for our nation to recoup this investment (bailout).
See?
That's called S O C I A L I S M.
Get it?
But what my fellow Christian Conservatives refuse to acknowlege is that this President has a long history of favoring SOCIALISM over Private Enterprise.
As you may remember, I've been giving the example about how GW got the City of Arlington to RAISE TAXES to build HIM and his PARTNERS ... THEIR baseball stadium.
That's pure Socialism.
Except ... in a perverse twist that only the most cynical business person could enjoy ... once the CITY built the stadium ... these business partners would OWN the stadium ... which they promptly sold after a short period of time.
That's where GW got his first money. ..
There are other examples from GeeDub as well.
For instance ... needing land to build this pean to Socialism ... GW used EMINENT DOMAIN to STEAL 200 acres from good, middle class citizens.
Some of them fought him in court ... specifically the Curtis Mathes family. But hey ... it's difficult to stand in the way of the Modern Republican version of Socialism.
See?
I mean ... I don't want to spoil your fun.
I realize it's a time honored ploy to call Democrats Socialists ... but considering the way the Republican Party has changed so dramatically the past few decades ... you might want to chill the smug stridency of these claims.
-----------------------------------
Now ... I don't want to claim ALL Christian Conservatives are Socialists ... but all Conservatives are just a couple of steps away from Socialists.
And the louder they scream that 'those other guys are the Socialsists ... the surer you can be that they are covering for their own perversions of Capitalism.
More Bailouts anyone?

This thread screams about Obama's Socialistic tendencies.
I'm saying ... y'all have no clue about what Socialism is in this modern world.
And as an example ... I give you the bona fide Socialistic efforts from George W. Bush ... who y'all supported ... and probably still do.
Believe me ... there can be no greater evil that has befallen our nation than George W. Bush and his sick Neo-Conservative ideology and partisanship.
If you don't believe me ... just look around.
Look at our economy.
Look at our banking system.
Look at how our Judiciary has been politicized.
Look at our huge national debt (owed to Communists in China.
Look at our lowered standing in the world.
Look at the incompetent administration of the various wars this administration has embarked on.
Look at the partisan hatred that this administration has fomented.
It all adds up to evil of the worst sort.
-=----=----=----=----=---=-
Now ... given all this evil that has befallen our Great Nation ... only someone who cared MORE about furthering the sick Neo-Con ideology above all else ... above what's good for our nation ... would vote for John McCain ... a man who has agreed with George W. Bush NINETY PERCENT of the time over the course of 8 years.
Personally, I'm voting for a change ... and I'm happy to say ... most PATRIOTIC Americans agree with me.-

YOU SAY you are voting for a change. There is absolutely no evidence that Obama can or even intends to try to bring about positive change in this country. There is ample evidence that he lacks the conviction and character to do anything of the sort.-

There you go. McCain did not support ALL of bushes policies. He many times reached across the aisle for compromises. That is why he is called a maverick.

On the other hand Obama voted 100% with the far left and has the record of being the most far left Senator based on his voting record. He never helped write a bill in the legislature or the senate. Never ever reached across the aisle. Never compromised a bit.

This is the change that Obama wants - but who will pay for it?
Reply
Obama will create 20 Promise Neighborhoods in areas that have high levels of poverty and crime and low levels of student academic achievement in cities across the nation.
The Promise Neighborhoods will be modeled after the Harlem Children's Zone, which provides a full network of services, including early childhood education, youth violence prevention efforts and after-school activities, to an entire neighborhood from birth to college.
People up to age 25 could continue to be covered under parents' policies. Mr. Obama would create a National Health Insurance Exchange, described in campaign documents as "a watchdog group" that would be empowered to set rules and standards "to make individual coverage more affordable and accessible."
Obama proposes to achieve almost universal service for the nation’s 17 million college students by offering a refundable annual tax credit of $4,000 toward college tuition.
This program should cost about $65-100 billion a year, perhaps more if it substantially increases the number of students attending college. In return for the credit, college students will be required to perform 100 hours of community service every year for four years.
By offering college students a hefty $40 an hour, Mr. Obama will ensure that nearly every college student will participate in his program, without actually making their service mandatory.

Can't understand that the socialism and communism are the far left. He then weaves a silly thing about trying to label that on the right. Socialist concepts are health care for everybody from the government, guarantees of jobs, guarantees of education, etc. Of course they want to ignore the cost in money and liberties that will mean. Canada and Europe have had "socialized medicine" and are now starting to privatize it once again. Bureaucrats telling you who you can see and when with long waits. Costs going through the roof. That is just health care.
Change all right. $800 billion in new government spending. (Go to his web site.) only going to tax the rich more. That might get $40 to 60 billion. Where will the rest of the money come from Goppy?
Read about what Stanley Kurtz found out about your hero Goppy. Ties to ACORN who pushed banks to make bad loans to banks by strong arm tactics of having their lobbies filled with bad looking people, picketing the banks and homes of the bank officers and getting Barry to take one to court. Another story on the site right now is his case against Citibank. Your hero.

The irony of Obama and the New Party association
Is Barack Obama a socialist? That seems to be the question after the discovery of documentation showing Obama’s endorsement by Chicago’s New Party, a group that intended to provide cover for socialists seeking public office in Illinois.-

We really don't need this formal association -- if that's what it is to determine whether Obama is primarily capitalistic or primarily socialistic. All we need do is listen to the plans that come out of his mouth.

His definition of a tax cut for everyone is to tax those he deems to make "more than enough" and give it directly to those who don't make enough. If this is not wealth distribution, I don't know what is.

On radio I listened to a very liberal woman call a very conservative man "murderer" repeatedly when he tried to talk. He ended up responding by calling her a pusher. She became incensed and fussed a lot about that but kept saying murderer when he tried to talk. He hung up and the liberal talk show host and the woman talked about how he had stooped to calling name when she did not. Three liberal callers called in and said the same thing. ALL of the LIBERALS just thought repeatedly saying murderer was just fine.

Along with being a theiving conartist as was provedin the Keating Scandal, John McCain has an Iran-Contra connection. In the 1980s, McCain served on the advisory board to the U.S. chapter of an international group linked to ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America.
Reply
The U.S. Council for World Freedom aided rebels trying to overthrow the leftist government of Nicaragua. That landed the group in the middle of the Iran-Contra affair and in legal trouble with the Internal Revenue Service, which revoked the charitable organization's tax exemption.
The council created by retired Army Maj. Gen. John Singlaub was the U.S. chapter of the World Anti-Communist League, an international organization linked to former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America. After setting up the U.S. council, Singlaub served as the international league's chairman.
McCain's tie to Singlaub's council is undergoing renewed scrutiny after his campaign criticized Obama for his link to Ayers, a former radical who engaged in violent acts 40 years ago. Over the weekend, Democratic operative Paul Begala said on ABC's "This Week" that this "guilt by association" tactic could backfire on the McCain campaign by renewing discussion of McCain's service on the board of the U.S. Council for World Freedom, "an ultraconservative right-wing group."
So, he drops indentiary bombs on vietnamese children, and calls himself a war hero, then sponsors death squads in Latin america. Warmongering murderer McCain, and his side kick, the evangelical creationist moron.-

Heck, I would never have guessed Bush could pull that off. Who knew your hatred for the troops ran only so deep?

McCain wins the election of 2008;
JOHN MCCAIN WINS PRESIDENCY
And if you like, we can backdate it to 1996; or 1887 if you prefer.
BREAKING NEWS APR. 1 1887
We can make it sort of yellow with age; and post it in a collection of 'archived' postings, and give it links to other postings.
Granted, it would be a lie , - but I don't think that is going to bother anyone here.
And you could Google it, and slip into your fantasy world completely, and give the real world a rest from your malice.-

Alas! I am not one of the dewy-eyed nice posters, who sputter in astonishment, -'but, but how can I prove he wasn't a member of something?'
I need only remind you, that I have no reason to believe it.
You present this post to an article with quotes from an 'archived' web page,
- written in 1996? Where 'someone' mentions Obama as being a member of something?
This is your evidence?
So; we have no reason to believe it.
And excellent reason to disbelieve.
Obama is no socialist; he is a millionaire,
a Harvard Lawyer with rich friends, poor friends and the increasingly desperate working class of this nation.
Granted he grew up poor and had to make his own fortune,
- but that makes him more of a capitalist.
Maybe that is the problem there; the word 'capitalist' has lost its meaning to certain groups.
It doesn't mean a W type who inherited wealth and stuck a flag pin on the money bags.
And 'conservative' didn't really mean lunatic with an agenda to slander.-

What you're describing is the extreme of socialism. Please learn what socialism actually entails, it's an EGALITARIAN, not EQUAL system. So, wealth and earnings are more FAIRLY distributed. VERY few models of socialism would reward non-work as highly as work.
Reply
But continue to be obtuse, insisting that everything is absolute, and therefore finding it impossible to imagine that socialism exists in much of what makes the United States a good place to live (eg. schools, police forces, public works like transit...).-

amazed1 year, 1 month ago
This comment is below the standard viewing threshold View It »
It is just as extreme to insist that any gov't involvement is socialism. Even the most radical libertarian recognizes the role of gov't in things such as defense, highways and transit and a few other things that are truly the provence of gov't.
Reply
By your definition, the only forms of gov't are some degree of socialism and anarchy.
I'll give you gov't involvement in transit is a good thing. Quite frankly, with the abuse that is becoming rampant and the fact that the only ones who are allowed to investigate any allegations against them are the police themselves, I'm not thoroughly convinced on the police making the US such a good place to live, and I am SURE that, with the stranglehold the teachers' unions have got on public education, that's pretty much a failing institution also.
And exactly what is fair about taking something (forcibly) from one person and just giving it to someone else (Obama's tax proposal) ? Who gets to decide how much is enough? Maybe this guy worked 80 hour weeks to earn what he has.
The attitude that everything should be "more fairly distributed" does NOT promote social harmony -- it promotes class warfare and the measuring of what you've got against what THEY"VE got == and you'll almost always believe that THEY have a much better deal.
And it is true, that most of Europe is moving away from their socialistic leanings because they have found them to be unsustainable. The United Kingdom was nearly brought to its knees by socialism before it began to dig itself out.
But by all means, let's jump on that derailed bandwagon.

Dean, Obama and the Party of European Socialists
Reply
In fact, Investor’s Business Daily (IBD) reported August 20, 2008, that the Party of European Socialists (PES) “has given its blessing” to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).
On June 15, 2008, Mark Leftly of the UK’s The Independent wrote that former Danish premier Rasmussen was
… in talks with aides to the US presidential nominee Barack Obama about the regulation of private equity firms and hedge funds.
The names of Obama’s aides are not mentioned in this or the following report from EMII, which added June 18, 2008
In addition to contacting Obama’s people, [Rasmussen] has also contacted, Barney Frank, the chairman of the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, and former World Bank Chief Economist Joseph Stiglitz.
IBD reported in August 2008 that Rasmussen said
Obama is the choice for change and renewal. He gives hope to millions of Americans and Europeans for a fairer world. … Progressive Europeans are united in hope that Barack Obama will be the new president following the U.S. elections.
The PES September 1, 2008, press release also stated
PES Secretary General Philip Cordery said “The European socialists and social-democrats support Barack Obama for President. His ‘Plan for America’ is a progressive agenda which we believe would bring many benefits to the American people and to the world.”
On February 14, 2008, Cliff Kincaid, at Accuracy in Media, wrote:
Obama’s socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat. Later, the Chicago DSA newsletter reported that Obama, as a state senator, showed up to eulogize Saul Mendelson, one of the “champions” of “Chicago’s democratic left” and a long-time socialist activist. Obama’s stint as a “community organizer” in Chicago has gotten some attention, but his relationship with the DSA socialists, who groomed and backed him, has been generally ignored. [snip]
DSA describes itself as the largest socialist organization in the United States and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. The Socialist International (SI) has what is called “consultative status” with the United Nations. In other words, it works hand-in-glove with the world body.-

Sad.
Tthe above is a mix of:
1) general facts about some reds in chicago.
2) 1 smeary fact that said reds, endorsed Obama's senate bid.
3) lots of blurry words implying Obama must be a red too.
Do this.
Believe Obama when he says he is not, nor ever has been, a member of the socialist party.
Give it a try.

This is a link to a far-right web page, where the writer gives us quotes from an 'archived' web page, - supposedly from 1997,
written by unnamed people supposedly linked to socialists, who supposedly are listing Obama, correctly or not as a member of their party,
- though Obama ran as a Democrat for his state senate seat.
In other words, the point of this story is the accumulation of hot air designed to trick us into spending a lot of time, denying that Obama is a Socialist.
This whole thread is an attempt to derail the topics that deserve to be discussed.-

Goppy is correct. This freaking Wall Street Bailout and the Kitchen Sink bill IS closely akin to Socialism. It's wrong, and that's probably why the MAJORITY of citizens opposed it. Congress went ahead and did it anyone. I have already advised my reps (Dems and Repubs alike) that as far as I am concerned, they are FIRED come November 4. BUT - I'm confident that anyone who thinks Barry Obama would be an IMPROVEMENT is horribly mistaken. And I'm not so sure about John McCain either. Seriously, we NEED to start voting in independents. I have the same as every other member of the company. We spend huge sums to maintain the best possible insurance and currently the company pays for everything.
As to military, I really should change my bio. My division has been doing about 85-90% commercial or industrial and only about 10% gov. contract. The nature of the beast I suppose. It was more lucrative to work with the private sector. They pay the bills faster.
As to welfare, we really don't have the incentives you'd think. I wanted to consolidate our distribution centers to one state. Texas wanted us to stay but I'm tired of hurricanes. I wanted to move the distribution to Wisconsin. Even though the land was in the center of Milwaukee, the land didn't have proper water, sewers or power. We needed help with zoning and infrastructure costs. The governor's staff never returned our calls. Ohio made us a fair offer and we accepted.-

I'm sorry because I can't hear myself think over your whining. My firm has been actively searching for people in our area for skilled labor. Engineers, machinists, tool& die, welders, assembly and the like. We're having a very difficult time. I'm tired of hearing from you whining liberals that there's not jobs around and with the lack of jobs, no benefits. My lowest paid person is around $40K. We have full health, minus dental however we have a $1000 reimbursement for medical not covered by our health plan including the $500 deductible. The problem we face, at least here in Milwaukee is that most of you guys want to make what I do a year without having the schooling or skills required to do that job. You cannot go from welfare to work without some form of training. I've paid for the next 2 years worth of grads from our tech school from their welding and machine tool classes.
Reply
On your other numbers, where are they from and who is and isn't included. One nasty habit you guys tend to do is include people covered under Medicaid, Medicare and other charitable programs like Badger Care in your numbers of uninsured. Also included in your "facts" are the illegal aliens. That alone covers over 15,000,000 people. So where are your hard facts & numbers. I'd also like to see it from a non-biased sight. There are enough bogus sites from both sides. Where are your numbers from.

When fascist McCarthyites attack Obama, they condemn his patriotism, call him a terrorist (instead of a communist), and accuse him of guilt by association. Actually the swift boat men were people who reported their side of the story. Mr. Kerry painted them as baby killers and murderers. Since the media refused to talk to them, the wrote a book. So in other words, for them that was a bad thing. Yet you guys think it's fine when Saturday night live does a skit claiming Mr. Palin had an affair with his daughter is humor. Then to make matters better the media reported on it for 2 weeks.
Reply
As to the Iraq war, that's not what Senator McCain said. He said he would support the troops as long as it takes and that we wouldn't abandon our friends in Iraq. The media picked up only his comment of 100 years. Once again the media rewrites a comment, just like when Michelle claimed to be proud of America for the very first time. I was there at the woman's conference as a guest of my assistant. She attended a McCain function, we're friends in addition to working together.
Which GI bill? The ones I've seen had so much extra pork they shouldn't be called a GI bill they should be called the Pork Bill or even better the Trichinellosis Bill

Conservatives think of socialism as the antithesis of laissez-faire economics. Our economy should be based on private capital with little or no government interference. Wealth will work its own way through society by 'natural' means. Otherwise known as the 'trickle down' theory. What conservatives fail or refuse to acknowledge is that this approach has a serious flaw. It does not take into account GREED! The only thing that can control greed is government intervention in the form of regulation which is abhorrent to conservatives. If your wondering what happens when you let the economy police itself just open today's paper or turn on the news. It's ironic that the answers to this mess are......socialistic in nature. Conservatives are in a very sour mood these days. They will have to make a deal with the Devil himself if they want to keep whats left of their wealth.
