"It is hard to think of any presidential candidate before Barack Obama sporting associations with three more execrable characters. Yet let the McCain campaign raise the issue, and the mainstream media begin fulminating about dirty campaigning tinged with racism and McCarthyite guilt by association.

But associations are important. They provide a significant insight into character. They are particularly relevant in relation to a potential president as new, unknown, opaque and self-contained as Mr. Obama."

I agree that these are legitimate issues for American voters to consider in deciding whether to vote for Obama in the election. This article provided a thoughtful analysis of these shady associations of Obama and why the are relevant. Also on how McCain inadvertently hurt himself by waiting until October to raise these legitimate concerns. He needs the help of as many people as possible now to bring these important facts to the attention of the public, since it is obvious that the big mainstream media outlets have no interest in doing so because they vigorously are backing Obama.

          Very well, said, K!
That was just really, really well said.
          Really!

The way you soberly , solemnly analyze the deeply serious charges here; the thoughtful, more-in-sorrow-than in-anger tone; the tiny hint of betrayal you reveal, that the MSM and even the McCain campaign, doesn't take this seriously.

          Love it!
          Do more!

Wright is far more of an american patriot that Palin and her goofy preachers. Here is what Ronald Reagan's Asst. Secy. of Defense says about Wright.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright, a True Patriot
By LAWRENCE KORB and IAN MOSS

In 1961, a young African-American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines. In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. (They provide medical assistance to the Marines as well as to Navy personnel.)

The man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander in chief's medical team, and helped care for President Lyndon B. Johnson after his 1966 surgery. For his service on the team, which he left in 1967, the White House awarded him three letters of commendation. What is even more remarkable is that this man entered the Marines and Navy not many years after the two branches began to become integrated.

While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President Dick Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/sailor, received five deferments, four for being an undergraduate and graduate student and one for being a prospective father. Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, both five years younger than the African-American youth, used their student deferments to stay in college until 1968. Both then avoided going on active duty through family connections.

Who is the real patriot? The young man who interrupted his studies to serve his country for six years or our three political leaders who beat the system? Are the patriots the people who actually sacrifice something or those who merely talk about their love of the country?..

... How many of Wright's detractors, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly to name but a few, volunteered for service, and did so under the often tumultuous circumstances of a newly integrated armed forces and a society in the midst of a civil rights struggle? Not many. While words do count, so do actions. Let us not forget that, for whatever Rev. Wright may have said over the last 30 years, he has demonstrated his patriotism.

(Lawrence Korb and Ian Moss are, respectively, Navy and Marine Corps veterans. Korb served as assistant secretary of Defense in the Reagan administration.)

Palin's preacher: Jews control the economy, that's causing all the corruption

A new video of Sarah Palin experiencing a laying of hands at her church in Wasilla shows Sarah Palin's preacher telling the congregation - with Palin present and about to join him on stage - how Christians need to take over control of the business world, especially banking, just like the Jews (Israelites) have done. He then goes on to say that the fact that non-Christians are running the banking industry is the cause of all of the recent scandals.

Tim McVeigh served in the military. Does that make him a good guy?
Does that negate the fact that he is a murder and terrorist?

Wright may have served his country well in the 1960s.
Wright may actually have good intentions and aspirations for our country.
But, we have all seen the videos. His expressed opinions are cause for great concern.
If Obama has occassionally attended Wright's church, I would not be concerned.
But, Obama sat at the foot of the man for 20 years, and heard these comments over and over again!
There is no way those comments could not have had an effect on Obama.
(Not to mention his wife's comments about finally being proud of America!?)
There is no way that a white politician could have such an long-lasting association with a hate-mongering preacher like Wright and it not be cause for concern.
(Wright's past service does NOT change what we saw on those videos!)
Hyper - you and the other liberals, plus the media, are hypocrites.
Your desire to shove your stupid, PROVEN-TO-FAIL agenda down our throats at any cost is simply brazen.

I remember the list of crooks associated with Nixon' reelection. The list was ran on a 30 second ad, it just said "theses convicted or charged with a crime are directly asssociated with the Nixon campaign.

The list lasted 25 seconds. Nobody cared than and Nixon was reelected.

MadamX stands by the door, her packed bags piled around her.
"I am leaving you," she says yet again. "A lifetime of serving the party, and you do this to me?"

                    "Do what?" asks donald51.
                    "You know, -this! says MadamX.
"Who are you again?" asks donald51, puzzled.

                    MadamX stamps her foot.
"Leaving you! Leaving you!" she shouts.

Donald51 nodds politely, and carries her suitcases to the sidewalk.

MadameX shouts, "My whole lifetime I devoted to you! You'll be sorry!"
Donald51 backs quickly into the door and shuts it.
                    Locks it.

"Who the heck was that?" asks Obama.
                    Donald51 just shruggs? "Beats me".

See, you are even wrong on your baseless assumption on me... 24 years of US Army service with a son blown out of a HMMWV in Baghdad! Ignorant lady!

These republican rallies are turning into mobs now that they see Obama inching ahead in the polls. Clueless cons like nixie,klarrisa,pc25 and the rest don't realize their cheap mud slinging tactics are backfiring. People what to hear ideas from the two candidates on how to get the economy/country back on its feet not this crap the cons love to wallow in.
