Dana Milbank of the Washington Post often writes with a good deal of attitude, and his Tuesday column was no exception. In his report on Sarah Palin’ s campaign speech in Clearwater, Florida, laced with mocking Palinisms (“ darn right,” “ betcha” ), he wrote that “ the self-identified pit bull has been unleashed, if not unhinged.” The “ unhinging,” in Milbank’ s assessment, came when Palin charged that Obama still has some explaining to do about his relationship with 1960s Weatherman bomber William Ayers.

These bigots were probably Obama operatives working with Milbank so he could write this smear. Someone should record what the Obamites say to the people going into Palin Rallys. I've heard they scream and shout all kinds of insults at those folks. Of course, republicans and conservatives don't raise a stink about it because it just what liberal democrat trash does and we just consider the source, so who cares?

The Modern Republican party ... Christian Conservatives ... if you will ... have ... as their foundation ... a knee jerk racism and bigotry that has harmed our nation just horribly.

One might say that ... we would have NO race problem in America today if not for the EXTREME Racism from small minded Americans who not only REFUSED to accept Blacks ... Asians ... Mexicans into society ... but WORKED AGAINST the whole concept.

As Racism and Bigotry is the foundation ... the origins of the Modern Republican Party .... I doubt seriously that it will go away any time soon.

Modern Republicans MUST have a group to DEMONIZE .... It's in the DNA.

It's not 'Politically Correct' to hate Black People Overtly now ... so Republicans have shifted their Demonization towards Catholics, The Educated, Mexicans, and Homosexuals.

It is simply a way to 'motivate the base'. To PASSIONATELY motivate the base.

Hope this helps you understand how the majority of Americans see the Modern Republican Party.

Wolfie2007: "These bigots were probably Obama operatives"

I've posted some links above. Are those all Obama operatives too?

How about this person who interrupted one of Obama's events?

I think you might be onto something there Wolfie.. I think ACORN was infiltrated by republicans who purposely engaged in fraudulent voter registration to make them look bad. And while we are at it , those fake national guard records of Bush's that Dan Rather fell for---they were actually the truth put into forged documents so they could be called fake so no one would believe the truth about Bush. That had Karl Rove all over it....

Remember.. the media seems biased because the truth has a liberal slant to it....

This was a disastrous outing for the Post, the Times, and bloggers determined to view Palin appearances as brownshirt rallies.

If the atmosphere is so hate-filled and racist at these events, why does the evidence come down to one shouter at one rally?

Just last week we had a video posted of Obama's camo clad mini army. Btw, I heard that video was produced in Kansas City, MO but my friends are still looking for who produced it.

My aversion to Obama has nothing to do with race and I am very tired of any criticism of him as being racially motivated. It does a disservice to your candidate. He is going to have to undergo scrutiny and criticism as a presidential contender and (God forbid) if he wins the election. Can you imagine what this country will be like if no one can criticize the president, as they have all presidents, with race becoming the issue?

Candida? Obama has ears? I never noticed.

He looks like a man, with the fatures passed to him by the combination of his parents. You know, just like you and just like me. His appearence is meaningless, though I'd say he's well spoken, appears fairly fit, and doesn't apprear to have been beaten by an ugly stick. Youth and looks are always an attribute in politics over experience, or if the experience is the same, looks trump in this shallow society. BTW his wife isn't bad looking either, I assume she too has ears, fingers toes and everything else most humans have.

Some of my major issues with McCain are his views on abortion and gays, his sometimes hawkish views, his sometimes condescending comments, and his late selection of Palin so she's had to practically go through bootcamp to come up to speed.

Some of my major issues with Obama are his inexperience, his support of anti-U.S. constitution U.N. and government policies, and his ties to ultra-leftist Soros and wealthy bully Bloomberg, who places himeself above the law.

I really don't care about the race/ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation of the individual. I am a libertarian, and I have voted democrat more than republican over the years because of the issues important to me. I'm pleased that either a racial/ethnic minority or a woman will be elected this time around. I'm a bit more concerned about the Obama than the McCain ticket, though. I hope whichever is elected will be given either a house or senate of the opposite party to keep him in check.

His partial birth abortion votes and his no vote on the Born Alive bill for starters. I cannot see this country being led by a man who would vote to withhold medical aid to a baby born alive from a botched abortion. America has fought and sacrificed to stop other countries who practice this atrocity. Now we have someone running for president who supports infanticide.

k9kssr: "I cannot see this country being led by a man who would vote to withhold medical aid to a baby born alive from a botched abortion."

I didn't realize that you belonged to the "Right to Birth" movement. Are you concerned only about aborted fetuses, or does your concern extend to little children? Could you vote for someone who would withhold medical care from them, like President Bush did and all those who voted against the bill that would have provided medical care to children.

You say: "America has fought and sacrificed to stop other countries who practice this atrocity."

I don't know what you are referring to. Where did America fight, and what kinds of sacrifices did it make to stop others from aborting fetuses? Don't you think that's the internal affair of each country? Would you like other countries to dictate to you what you can or cannot do? Other countries may think that the death penalty is barbaric. Should they stop the US from executing people?

What about the children killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and lately Pakistan, not to mention all the children in Korea, Vietnam, South America, and all kinds of other countries where the US has interfered? Don't they count? How about the adults? What is the worth of a million Iraqi lives?

You should understand something: nobody is for abortions. Those who promote sex education do it to prevent abortions. You should also face another fact: you can outlaw abortions, but you cannot eliminate them. The only question is whether they are legal or illegal. Abortion existed at the time of your mother, your grandmother and probably much earlier than that. That's just how things are, and there is nothing you can do about it. The more unwanted pregnancies we prevent, the fewer abortion there will be.

No one was speaking of fetus, it was about babies left to die. Babies who, Obama voted to refuse medical attention because these babies survived a so called partial birth abortion. You're just sicko.

You liberal democrats worry about wolves, seals, polar bears, apes and any number of mice and insects but your lack of humanity shows when you attempt to make excuses for the inhuman treatment of human babies.

That bill had nothing to do with 'killing babies just born' and you damn well know it. No infant is purposely killed at birth so stop doing the right wing twist with the truth. Anti-abortionists have been trying to get bills like this passed for years in order to get around Roe vs. Wade. They purposely word these bills to make anybody opposing them sound callous. The only time late term abortions are performed is when the mothers life is in grave danger from pregnancy complications, which by the way are rare. The wording on the original bill "A baby shall be considered born alive at anytime during development" (read at conception) is what the obvious problem was. Once that was resolved it passed.

KoolAid, If a baby survives the procedure of abortion and is breathing ‘outside’ of the womb is it not alive? Being allowed to lay there to die outside the womb denotes something other than unviable tissue does it not?

I support abortion rights in some instances, but the late term partical birth thing is something I do not in any way condone.

LOL like the 40 plus years of Democratic rule and nothing was done about racism? Even to the point they still have a KKK member on board, their pundants use the N word with impunity merely because they have dark skin?

Yeah vote in another Dem then they will finally fix racism, except they won't because it's too useful for them politically.

NOw back to the facts of my statement. If a baby survives the procedure of abortion and is breathing ‘outside’ of the womb is it not alive? Being allowed to lay there to die outside the womb denotes something other than unviable tissue does it not?

I really wouldn't worry about that. He recently stated he'd like to see abortion decisions return to the states, probably more strongly than McCain (but not Palin). He doesn't realize that's really an anti-Roe position, from what I gather. I'm strongly pro-choice, and I judge both candidates to be too anti-abortion for my tastes. And the so called "Born Alive" issue is really a play on words. These are not babies that can survive, so it's just spin on the part of the far right.

My boss is Catholic, and abortion is her #1 issue. My view on abortion is just not a priority for me in this election--although I have consciously voted pro-choice in a number of past elections.

Well to me there is no answer to the abortion issue.
As a man, I have no right to tell a woman what to do with her body, as a father I do have a right to say what I think, but it is still up to the woman.
What gets me is almost all on here that are so anti abortion are so pro war.

Obama has picked up enough knowledge to be able to talk the issues over the months, but he doesn't have actual experience with the issues. He didn't even have a platform in February, and he just adopted Clinton's when he was finally up against the wall. It's taken him months to finally define his platform.

Palin has had only 6 weeks, but is also bright and capable. I'm more concerned at Obama's inexperience as president than hers as vice president.

On the other hand, I'm not strongly for or against either ticket, so I will be neither delighted nor depressed by whomever wins.

The measure of a crowd, is as easily taken by what it will silently watch, as what it will cheer.

If a person in an audience feels safe calling out racial insults, - if the audience does not roar with disaproval?

                                      - to me it is not much better than if it had shouted along.

And the message the silent ones carry home with them will guide their actions in the days to come. I am afraid. It feels like I have been here before.

No, disagreeing with him doesn't make you a racist. However, if you feel that you will immediately be labeled as a racist if you disagreed with him on a legitimate issue, that probably is a good indication that you are one.

                                            what?

throw away the extra words, you say:

No it’s not. It’s an indication that we know the SOP of the Democratic party and it’s shills to use the race card to try and silence others by turning debate about our concerns that Obama would not be the right person for the job into we must be racists for thinking that and moving the topic to your base thinking that everyone that has valid concerns must be racists because you only see skin color and not his merit when you look at Obama.

Palin has been critizied for her inexperience. If you believe the actuarties, Mccain has a 15% chance of not making it through his first term.

So if Obama gets elected, we have a 100% chance of having some one grossely inexperienced in the office. If McCain gets in, we have a 15% chance of Palin taking over. I'll go with McPalin.

It's too bad that his inexperience has produced so many good ideas for the next 4 years. I guess we'll just have stay with the 26yrs of experience of McCain and continue with the Bush/republican ideals that have destroyed us since the big tax and spending years of the Clinton administration that brought us prosperity and an enourmous budget surplus.

So you admit that the Clinton administration was a big taxer!!?? Good for you! Finally some honesty!

Clinton & a Democratic-led congress raised corporate tax rates to 35% in 1993. Then, even with a Republican-led congress (they deserve some of the blame/credit ), Clinton was able to tweak the rates to 38%.

You see, the real reason for the budget surplus in 2000 was the high corporate taxes. Are we too high? Let's see:

We are higher than virtually all other developed countries. Example: US corporate tax rate = 38%.
For Sweden, tax rate = 17%
For Ireland (recent economic boom), tax rate = 14%.
                                                  Get the picture?

Was there a downside to these high taxes and budget surplus? Yes - the high taxation helped drive jobs overseas as well as put severe strain on US businesses, leading to the recession that Bush has to inherit.
That's right, even the NYTimes admits that Bush was not responsible for the recession he had to deal with in 2001!

Yeah I know. I never understood how the left feels ok with Obama’s inexperience and felt its ok because he picked an experienced VP to help with that. However they aren’t intelligent enough to figure out that if indeed McCain were to pass away, all she would need to do is the same thing Obama has done and pick a VP to help her in the areas she needs help in.

No matter whay they say, the Republicans are known to use anything they can to scare and divide the American public.
Rally after rally they continue to mention the candidate as Baroc Hussein Obama. This only to evoke the feeling that he is a Muslim and or terrorist as many of the Republicans have said. Yes yes, they are only using his full name which has nothing wrong with it. But, come on, that's what the intention is, scare and divide. Clinton, Johnson, Carter, etc. all had middle names which were not repeated at every rally because it wouldn't have made a difference.
So, when they sow these type of seeds, and provoke this type of atmosphere, they really have to own up to the consequences.
Lets hope that this is where the hate and prejudice stops.

I'm praying that Obama has bodyguards. I live in Florida and I voted for him by absentee ballot. There are some very scary people out there.

By inferring that Obama is a terrorist, Palin could be the cause of an attempt at assassination of Obama. It's obvious that guy yelling "Kill him" wasn't yelling that about Ayers. McCain and Palin should stop this -- it's inciting hate.

                                                        1. I do not believe Sarah Palin believes that Obama is a terrorist, but yes- she did infer that by association, encouraging others to take it as far as they will. For a speaker to take the primal fear that is represented by the word "terrorist" and use it in such a calculated fashion is irresponsible. As for it being only one crazy person, that's just not true. Any person who stands up and yells "Kill him" knows that the mood around him is with his sentiments or he would be afraid to yell it. It is the silent ones who pose the danger.

                                                        2. William Ayers was first a member of the Students for Democratic Action. When protesting failed, the Weathermen took social activism a step further. It is a time that is difficult to explain. The Vietnam War, four assassinations, the civil rights movement, little girls being bombed in their church - it was enough to make a lot of people a little bit crazy. The Weathermen's intention was to disrupt society's "business as usual" attitude to force those in charge to listen. The only people they injured accidentally were members of their own group. They were never convicted of anything and after some years in hiding were allowed to resume regular lives. For the last 30-40 years, Ayers has been a contributing member of society, supporting educational programs and working as a college professor. It is logical that he would have been drawn to a candidacy that represents a societal change in thinking, that has been a long time in coming. To call Ayers a terrorist at this stage in his life is the same as assuming that John McCain is still the irresponsible womanizing midshipman who graduated at the bottom of his class.

Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

                                                            An aside--sort of.

How come this story is officially posted by Wolfie, and yet the kickoff comment, in her usual cut-and-paste presentational style, is by Alpha Tomato?

And Wolfie doesn't seem to post at all for quite a bit?

I'd say this is a way of having your tomato and eating eating it too, Luv. As in, being afraid to risk posting under your own soubrquet lest greater conspicuousness lead to re-ostricism. And thus asking Wolfie to "do the honors."

                                                            Inquiring minds want to know.

I have never heard him complain about his grandparents, his mother, or any other of his family. And claiming that he got into Harvard by affirmative action and Saudi help is indicative of your thought process.

Aren't the Saudis friends of the Republicans?

Was reading the books a prerequisite to getting into the Palin rally ?

How many of the crowd do you think read his books?

Wolfie, I haven't read the books, by either, I guess you mean he wrote two.

Right now I'm reading Pat Buchanan's "Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War". You remember Pat don't you? He used to be a Republican.

But you know I think I will get them and read what must so stir you up.

Obama's political career began in Ayers living room. That is fact.

And since then, Obama has worked with Ayers many times and never denounced him even once. Even after Ayers said things recently like he wished he had blown up more buildings and people too.

But Obama says, he didn't know this guy or had any idea who or what he was? Come on folks. Either Obama is lying or he is a naive idiot. Which one is it?

Let's be honest people, if John McCain had this connection the news media and liberals would be all over it.

And this is only one of Obama's shady connections. But you don't hear much about any of it because the majority of the news media is biased.

And the reason why you don't see hecklers at Obama rallies, is because those that don't support him but do support McCain and Pailn are not so petty and they have more class and dignity.

                                                                    (comment_max_expanded_depth : 100000) (comment depth : 2) (recursion depth : 1) (max_comment_reply_depth : 40) (comment_max_render_depth : 100000)

How many times have i wrote comments here on propeller asking people to look up Carl Lindner, Doug Goodyear, Charlie Black, and Phil Gramm , asking that you Google those names along with McCain.

How much have you read about these people in the Mainstream Media? As much as I read, and that is a lot, I just don't see them mentioned. It is not that they don't exist. And everyone of them have been or still are members of John McCain's Campaign committee, not just "guilt by association", they are in his inner circle.

I keep suggesting that you Google so you can pick from the thousands of articles, not one I guide you to.

That business causing his campaign to self-destruct. Before our very eyes.

Poulenc. Yes you are right on. Obama has put distance between his poll numbers and McCain's as of late. Notice that the gap began to widen after the real ugly character attacks on Obama's character started.

Did you see the interview with Michelle Obama the other night? Compare that with Palin's fiascoes and declare who's character is uppermost.

My choice for President was Ron Paul. But I will most likely vote for Obama because this country really needs a person who can bring fiscal responsibility and morality to the people. This sounds a whole lot like Obama.

McCain's character is not even a close second to Obama. I see in McCain an opportunist who left his crippled wife ( who didn't burden him with her difficulties while he was held by the North Koreans ) and their children for a young lady who turned out to be a drug addict and who stole from a charity of all things to support her habit.

Anyway McCain took out a marriage license before he divorced his wife and this was after several months of he and Cindy traveling together.

Then while his new wife Cindy and her father were business partners with Keating, and while Keating was lavishing goodies on Cindy and John, the McCain character was not strong enough to keep him from accepting all that low hanging fruit . And as a result thousands of pensioners and investors lost their life savings and the United States Taxpayer was out Billions to repair the damage.

And some of you Right Wingers can overlook that criminal activity because you claim a fear of a person whose demeanor and visible character is much better than your own, as demonstrated by your choice in this election.

For shame, for you to claim character as your motivation. Just say you would rather vote for the real thief and the real corruption and then at least you would be honest about it.

I understand the frustration. In 2000, I voted against Gore, not for Bush. This year I'm not voting for McCain. I'm voting against Obama.

                                                                                        Each election, you wind up with a negative view of both candidates;
so you vote against the one you hate the most.

                                                                                        The polls always show negative adds influence how we think;
Yet everyone says they are not the ones influenced by mud-slinging.

Supposing we filtered out the mud?

                                                                                        Would that really be impractical?

It falls in line perfectly with instructions democrates are given on democraticparty@democrate.org. I have never heard a Republican use the "N" word. Only democrates.

If the Republicans are such racist, tell me which political party, while in office, has had a male Afro-American, female Afro-American, and an Hispanic in primary Cabinet positions. Hint,is was NOT the Democratic party - though they had amply opportunity with two term of Bill Clinton.

tatf. Please allow me to comment on Republicans of today.

I used to be a Republican, but left the Party within months after Bush came in. I had voted for him but soon realized what a scumbag he and his cabinet was. After 9/11 when most of the world and I, were behind him, he and his Corporate buddies started a war that didn't have to happen. It was started by lies and propaganda and had nothing to do with any threat to America.
What they did was invade to rape the resources of Iraq and make money for his Corporate friends that were in the war business or in the Oil business. Six years later after over one million dead and four times that many displaced and $3 Trillion spent on this fiasco John McCain wants to keep it going. Why? To keep the profits rolling in for his friends in the war business. Iraq is not and never has been a threat to America.

I left the party when Saddam Hussein's offer - before the invasion - to accept exile was turned down by Bush. I realized then what we had in office and I could guess what the future would bring. And come it did.

Plus it was only with the help of the Republicans that enabled Lyndon Johnson to pass the Civil Rights Act. His own party, the Democrates, led by Senator Core (father of Al Gore) fought him on the passage of this Act. So to claim that the Republicans are "racist' is morally and factually wrong.
