She'll be getting a check for that last kid she had also. Trigg, huh? That's one math class he won't have to worry about taking.

I fail to see anything too sinister in Sarah Palin's charging the government for these trips. There may be missing information. Did she go to church in conjunction with a legitimate business trip? Meeting Franklin Graham and other religious people of his standing may be very beneficial for Alaska. Franklin Graham and Samaritan's Purse and other Christian ministries do great work with disadvantaged people. Would you object if she was meeting with Jesse Jackson? How about the Reverend Al Sharpton? They are Christian leaders and I am sure that the govenment officials who meet with them charge the taxpayers for their expenses.

As far as I can tell, Sarah Palin's relationships are above board. She does not seem to spend a lot of time with the likes of Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, or William Ayers.

AcidTongue2X4-46, I think you are really insensitive considering the fact that Trigg has Downs Syndrome. He is not likely to be taking trigonometry. From the content of your post, I would deduce that you are not exactly the caliber of Einstein yourself.

First of all, considering her political stands and her fiery, racist rhetoric about Obama, it would be almost impossible for her to want to meet w/ Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.

Secondly, if Obama travelled at taxpayer's expense to see Jackson and Sharpton, would you object?

          Sinophil49:
Don't you know the difference between a governor (who travels at taxpayer expense) and a candidate? Exactly WHEN was Obama the governor of Illinois?

To answer your question, if Obama visits Sharpton, he will continue to receive Secret Service protection, which for all candidates and their wives, cost taxpayers $106.6 million, according to Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan.

Barack Obama is not a governor, true. He is a senator for the state of Illinois, and senators also travel at taxpayers' expense.

            So, answer the question, already.

I think Palin was insensitive naming him that.

'trig' is also an adjective, meaning clever and precise

Like nicknaming a 'weight-challenged' person 'tiny' or 'slim'

Alaska is made up of a good number of people of Norwegian heritage. The name "Trigg" is Norwegian and means "true". So, what is insensitve about "true"?

they have these handy things called dictionaries...I'm not surprised Palin was unaware of the meaning on her son's name-IN ENGLISH-the language she speaks

would you find naming a kid born without a right hand [like the famous pitcher Jim Abbott] 'Handy' ironic and clever, or just cruel and in bad taste?

It's not the kids fault he's not trig

              still a cool name tho

*everything you never wanted to know about the name 'Trigg'

This abuse of public funds is right in line with Palin's extremist anti-americanism.

Sarah Palin used AK tax dollars to fund dominionist churches

Over the past few days, I've done reporting on Sarah Palin's extensive dominionist connections--including the attempt to run her as a "stealth" dominionist candidate and her connections to some scary dominionist groups including not just "Joel's Army" folks but a far-right Christian Reconstructionist political party linked to domestic terrorism.

Palin's Churches and the Third Wave

Sarah Palin's churches are actively involved in a resurgent movement that was declared heretical by the Assemblies of God in 1949. This is the same 'Spiritual Warfare' movement that was featured in the award winning movie, "Jesus Camp," which showed young children being trained to do battle for the Lord. At least three of four of Palin's churches are involved with major organizations and leaders of this movement, which is training a young "Joel's Army" to take dominion over the United States and the world.

And, it is right in line with Palin's repetitive corruption.

              Palin's Crony Capitalism

People should stop picking on vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin because she hired a high school classmate to oversee the state agriculture division, a woman who said she was qualified for the job because she liked cows when she was a kid. And they should lay off the governor for choosing another childhood friend to oversee a failing state-run dairy, allowing the Soviet-style business to ding taxpayers for $800,000 in additional losses.

What these critics don’t understand is that crony capitalism is how things are done in Alaska. They reward failure in the Last Frontier state. In that sense, it’s not unlike like Wall Street’s treatment of C.E.O.’s who run companies into the ground.

"Since she was named as John McCain's running mate, Palin's deep faith and support for traditional moral values have rallied conservative voters who initially appeared reluctant to back his campaign."

After reading this story it's become evident that the "extreme right wing" would like to co-mingle religion with government office.

I thought this violated the "separation of church and state." Talking about values differs from actually going to events and using them for public funding.

The reason we separate govenment office from personal religion is simple: you are free to believe what you want, but should not force your beliefs on others.

If anyone had bothered to research this post they'd have found her meetings were secular in nature to fulfill her duties as governor and explore faith based initiatives. I thought it amusing that the author began by saying she JUST discovered this when it's been out there for a long time and has been investigated by the good ol' boys she ran out of office. This is another weak attempt to try to ruin her reputation, a typical ploy by the leftists. God, help us, if she's elected we'll go through 4 more years of partisan back biting.

Frankly the kind of totalitarian "religion" that Palin is associated with is a stellar example of why we should keep religions out of politics, including "faith-based-initiatives".

'Arming' for Armageddon - Militant Joel's Army Followers Seek Theocracy

Joel's Army believers are hard-core Christian dominionists, meaning they believe that America, along with the rest of the world, should be governed by conservative Christians and a conservative Christian interpretation of biblical law. There is no room in their doctrine for democracy or pluralism.

PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin i qualified. Apparently the right wing knew about this in advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes. The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by
mainstream media. It can influence undecided voters
                  in swing states.
Please do two things -- takes 20 seconds.
                  1) Click on link and vote yourself
                  Here's the link: http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html
                  2) Then send this to every single Obama-Biden voter
you know, and urge them to vote and pass it on.
The LAST thing we need is PBS saying their viewers
                  think Sarah Palin is qualified.

Palin also is one of just two governors who channeled federal money to support religious groups through a state agency, Alaska's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Palin has made it a priority to unite faith communities, local nonprofits and government to serve the needy, bringing her high marks — and $500,000 — from the Bush administration.

I got this from a link in the story to another story.

Documentation would have been nice. I mean, If Palin believes in tithing and she voluntarily donated 10% of her earinings to her church, (or any amount) one could technically say that she diverted tax-payers' money to a religious organization, never mind the fact that once she received the salary, it was no longer tax-payer's money but her own.

FTA- I didn't know government officials could make taxpayers pay for their attendance at religious events. That seems like a blatant violation of the separation of church and state.
Maybe she should ask the experts like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the mega-expert Bill Clinton who as president often visited black churches at taxpayer expense.

This all gets silly after a while. The lady is a not-terribly experienced governor who happens to hold religious beliefs that some others don't like. If one doesn't like her, fine. That's anyone's privelege. But stories of this general ilk, which verge on paranoia, tend to make Rush Limbaugh sound like Little Miss Sunshine.

IMHO, most Representitives, Senators, Governors are pretty honest. But one of these by every rule, interpretation, etc. simply doesn't exist.

What's truly terrifying is what would become of this country should McCain win then be unable to serve out his term. We'd have a President who doesn't bother to read and firmly believes Noah took Dinosaurs on the ark with him.

And if Obama would be unable to serve out his term you'd have a Catholic in office who believes in eating flesh and drinking blood! So just what in the heII is your point?? Can we say bigot??

Considering his age and health, about the only way Obama would be unable to serve out his term is by way of violent death. The fact that two Democrats have already been gunned down and he was threatened on faux noise has to be factored in.

You just insulted an awful lot of Christians there buckaroo. Are you a Muslim?

Will Sarah be trick or treating as a witch, or go with her standard Wh*re of Babylon?

"The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and bedecked with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her fornication; and on her forehead was written a name of mystery: ‘Babylon the great, mother of harlots and of earth’s abominations.’ "

Throw in square glasses and you have her in the flesh.
