If he becomes President he'll make ACORN a cabinet position. The Secretary of ACORN. Federal squirrel bait.

When the election is over and if Obama loses, this video will be viewed as a smoking gun on Obama's true, but hidden agenda. If Obama wins, then we'll never see this video again since he will make sure it "disappears". Lol.

If Osama Obama loses the election, we can expect a huge backlash over it.
The demoRats will come out into the streets by the thousands, causing all kinds of chaos, riots and everything else will be coming. So, we must ALL vote Osama Obama to prevent this coming catastrophe. Think I'm wrong, well then, vote for McCain and see what happens. We have no choice but to vote for Obama to keep our country from going NUTS! I can't wait!

You people are teetering on the brink of insanity. You don't have to vote for Obama but you should if you have any sense unless you make more than 100k a year as an individual or 250k as a family. If you make that much what are you complaining about?

If you still believe in trickle down economics you have truly gone over the edge. It didn't work under Reagan and it certainly hasn't worked the last 8 years.

And how is that $250,000 measured.

Earnings only, gross or net, or does it include research grants, or house sales, or 4 year college scholarships, or dividends or interest or stock sales.

If you are making 250k a year regardless of how you make it you should be sitting pretty. If you aren't you are a fool. Another 1k in taxes isn't going to hurt you. We need to start paying our debts and the fortunate ones among us need to pay their fair share. The hardest working people I know are some of the most poorly paid. Next year we will pay around 450 Billion in interest without paying a dime on the debt before we even get to any spending that actually makes a difference to a US citizen. Further enriching the Chinese and our other debt holders including OPEC nations. We must get our deficit and off budget spending under control. Trickle down and tax cuts for the rich have been a massive failure. Don't blame the Dems, they haven't had any veto power in 8 years. Bush hasn't bothered to use his. Why? The decision to go to war and cut taxes on the wealthiest Americans at the same time spurred many of the problems we see today. It was a signal to the country and our financial institutions that fiscal responsibility was no longer of central importance.

Speaking of GOP prostitutes, it probably would be fruitless to ask you about Monica Goodling (since you don't know who Newt Gingrich is or why he was important during the Clinton administration), right Nixie? ;-P

Canadians and even Canadiens can vote in at least thirteen states in the USA. Just ask ACORN where they want you to vote.

Canadians shouldn't even have a say in this election or forum....Being located in a Socialist country and primarily liberal, of course, you clows are going to want us to vote for a liberal socialist, so we can be like YOUR liberal country and other European countries and we can all sit around a campfire and sing "Kumbaya" while sipping "hoity-toity" lattes....I don't think so ....Go back to your country and shut your pie hole...

This is OUR country, FOR the people....NOT for Canada...

So, we really could care less what you have to say....Because at the end of the day, we don't want to be like your Socialist country and I for one, will make sure everyone I meet and run across knows about Obama's lies and socialist agenda...

Even if I convert one voter over to McCain....just ONE...Makes me extremely happy because unlike Michelle Obama, I AM proud of America for good or bad and I don't think America is a mean country.....I believe in this country and the traditional way it has been run....The conservative way, not the whack-job, loony-a$$ liberal way....

So, you can put THAT in your maple leaf and smoke it....

"So, you can put THAT in your maple leaf and smoke it...."

Perhaps you can educate us on how one would smoke a maple leaf, I know that we bag them up every fall to be taken away for recycling. But I digress.

Listen you "F." perhaps you need to be reminded "AGAIN!" we currently have CANADIAN TROOPS " fighting the real war on terror in Afghanistan, side by side
                      with your AMERICAN lads also.

SO when you say crap like...

"Canadians shouldn't even have a say in this election or forum ."

I have to say...How UN - AMERICAN OF YOU !

"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."

                      George Washington

Unlike you he seems to have had a profound respect for freedom of speech!

I'm sorry. You think that because Canada is ALSO fighting against terrorism that you somehow have a right to poke you nose into OUR elections? How do you get to THAT conclusion? By that reasoning, there are several OTHER countries that we must (apparently) listen to in that regard. And of course, our Constitution guarantees US freedom of speech - not YOU. In fact, I'm not sure YOUR Constitution has any such guarantee. I don't really know because IT'S NOT MY BUSINESS. Take a hint...

joeblowe: "By that reasoning, there are several OTHER countries that we must (apparently) listen to in that regard."

Where did spkguy say that you have to listen to us? All he said was that we have the right to speak. Feel free to ignore what we say. America hasn't listened to anyone until now, so why would it start now?

If fighting for your cause doesn't give one the right to speak, how about taxation. I pay US taxes, but I shouldn't even be allowed to express an opinion? How does it go: "No taxation without representation"?

You see, the problem is that our election doesn't influence your life, so you can remain as ignorant about our affairs as you please, but your elections profoundly influence our lives, so we need to be informed and we will express our opinions whether you like it or not. As I said above, just ignore us if you don't like what we say.

I didn't answer to FSU because there is no point debating with him, but you are an intelligent person, or so I thought until now, so think about what I've said. If you want, that is. After all, I'm just an ignorant, obnoxious foreigner who shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard.

Your rabid hatred of anything different from the status quo will be McCain's undoing. Keep it up. Keep pushing your hate. It only makes the case against McCain stronger.

Keep booing McCain when he talks about Obama as a human being. Keep letting that baffoon Palin shove her whole leg in her mouth. Assure Obama a victory and an end to the Bush regime.

As I have said many times before, educate yourself on anything you are to vote on,know the background not just the Media Hype. Do the research on any subject and check the sources. No it isn't easy, but your decisions affect not only your life but others around you. This is supposed to be an election for president not PR rock star. You are hiring the CEO of Firm USA. Who do you want to run the firm, a manager with over 25 years experience or the newly hired stockboy?
If you complain about Palin's experience to be VP candidate where does that leave Obama? She has more real experience than he has. Or is Obama really running as Biden's VP?

Ah my how the NeoCon desperation is showing through!

GOP's ACORN 'Voter Fraud' Lie Ramped Up

I had been intending to post an answer to the ongoing -- and quickly escalating -- ACORN smears being issued of late by the GOP enemies of democracy out there, who have decided to intensify their unsubstantiated assaults on the community organization, given its effectiveness at registering millions of low-income voters across the country....

... Doubtless you've heard the smears by now: that ACORN is committing "voter fraud", on behalf of Obama, in hotly contested swing states. The media has been all too happy to pass that garbage on, without bothering to note that, in fact, the organization attempts to authenticate every registration form their workers submit and by law they must turn in every form to election officials -- even if they find a registration to be fraudulent when they call the phone number submitted on the form, or if the forms are otherwise suspect or incomplete.

They do so, and they flag all questionable registration forms as being suspect before turning them in to officials.

The thanks they receive for registering millions of new voters that nobody else has bothered with, and for notifying officials about questionable registration forms when they turn them in, is that the GOP's democracy-hating propagandists and election officials run to the media shouting, "ACORN is committing voter fraud! They've turned in hundreds and thousands of fraudulent registration forms!"

Of course they have. They have to by law. But what those GOP despots of democracy always forget to mention is that it was ACORN themselves who notified officials about the potentially fraudulent and/or incomplete forms in the first place!

For the quickest idea of how the GOP ACORN scam has run amok, dutifully forwarded by the often clueless corporate media, and then the rightwing wankers in the blogosphere who are only to happy to help enable those who are lying to them -- by putting truth, democracy and country second -- take a look at the following game of rightwing "blogosphere telephone" concerning a recent news conference called by a Lake County, Indiana GOP chair in order to sound the phony alarm about "fraud" committed by ACORN....

The problem we have is getting the word to the public about all this. Again, most of the media is coving all this up, to protect their sweet innocent little Osama Obama. PUKE ME!

Keep in mind that the whole GOP ACORN "campaign" is an effort to dupe the gullible and cover up real theft of VOTES (as opposed to registrations).

Vote Rigging and Suppression Ahead of the 2008 Election

Election Day is less than a month away, and a record-breaking voter turnout is expected in the 2008 race. But voting rights groups are warning that tens of thousands of registered voters might not be able to cast a ballot come November 4th.

Beyond the documented problems of electronic voting machines, thousands of names have been purged from the rolls in several states, including at least six swing states.

Democrats and Republicans are locked in court battles over these in a number of states across the country. While Democrats say they’re trying to prevent attempts to block votes, Republicans say they are trying to prevent voter fraud.

BBC investigative journalist Greg Palast travels to New Mexico, Michigan and Colorado to investigate how both Democrats and Republicans are accusing each other of trying to steal the election.

ACORN Response to Senator McCain's Smear Ad
                                  October 10, 2008

"ACORN President Maude Hurd released the following statement today in response to the McCain campaign's new ad claiming that, among other things, ACORN is responsible for the mortgage crisis:

"For almost a decade, ACORN, a community organization of 400,000 families in neighborhoods across the country, has been fighting against the predatory lending practices that have robbed our members of their homes, destabilized neighborhoods, and roiled the global economy.

""In his newest ad, John McCain's campaign bizarrely claims, 'ACORN forced banks to issue risky home loans, the same types of loans that caused the financial crisis we're in today.' Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, ACORN has worked successfully to help working class families get good home loans on fair terms from legitimate banks and has fought vigorously against predatory lenders who have ripped off families in our communities. These predatory loans caused the crisis."

(for more about desperate and unbelievably filthy cons see next post)

This has been the problem from day one with this candidate. The DNC failed to properly vet him when he first came out. He read one speech at the DNC rally in 04 and they all jumped on his hope and change band wagon. For the last year the media has been covering stuff up. I love when you ask about Ayers or Wright rather than asking him to explain this, they bring up a meeting McCain had with Fr. Flagger or that McCain said or did something 20 years ago. When things were brought up, McCain did something Barrack hasn't done, apologias. Barrack has never explained how he could sit in a church listening to the hate against white Americans and Jews. He's never explained how he can sit with a convicted unrepentant terrorist who belonged to a group that fire bombed many buildings and homes. Obama hasn't explained a whole lot of anything. Like how he plans to bring both sides to a table when he's never once talked with conservatives. I mean outside of the debates.

Obviously you watch a lot of Fox News and my guess would be that you have listened to Limbaugh. They brag about the millions they reach. Are the pathetic networks, MSNBC, and the NYT too much of a match for these conservative "truth" machines? Limbaugh brags he has something around 25 million listeners and Fox constantly trumpets they are #1 on cable. But they can't get the truth out? Why, because it isn't the truth and just enough of America has woken up to that fact to make this a much more interesting race than the past two presidential elections. These recent smear attempts on Obama are simply pathetic. But watch, they will somehow work. And if we get to election day and Diebold has to do their thing to maintain corporate control of America don't be surprised. But this time many Americans may not take these results sitting down.

"For more than a decade, ACORN members have held protests, released reports, and advocated for regulations to protect homeowners from predatory lenders. ACORN organizers and volunteers have been working day and night to help victims of the GOP economic meltdown to save their homes from foreclosure. In fact, ACORN has brought class action lawsuits against several predatory lenders, and has lobbied the Federal Reserve and Congress in support of regulations against predatory lending. ACORN has even been successful in convincing many lenders to treat homeowners more fairly and help families be able to make their mortgage payments and save their homes.

"Unfortunately, the Bush administration and Congressional Republicans like John McCain have blocked the sensible regulations that ACORN and others proposed that would have averted the mortgage meltdown. If John McCain thinks that community organizers caused the foreclosure crisis, he knows even less about the economy than previously thought.

"John McCain and the Republicans are desperately trying to shift the blame for the economic crisis they caused with a philosophy of deregulation and indifference to homeowners. All the grainy footage and creepy music in the world can't cancel out some simple, basic facts, and the facts about the economy are not on John McCain's side."

So the moral of this story is McCain is failing and now his sad sack con followers (most of whom would have spit in his face a year ago because of his position on immigration reform) are flailing. It's comical, embarrassing and sad to watch cons trampling one another in a stampede of panic, fear, and silly prancing because they know their days of welfare, impunity, free rides, reckless tax cuts, cheap gas they can burn up without regard for the rest of the planet and their ability to pollute the airwaves with shout right wing radio 24/7 (we're bringing the Fairness Doctrine back, silly cons, so none of this horsecrap that's gone on since Bush got in office will ever be allowed to happen again--goodbye to the MSM as we know it). In short The Chimp and Con Crap Carnival will be SHUT DOWN. Finally. ;-(

                                              Why does registration matter?

                                              take 100,00 registered republicans
                                              175,000 registered Dem

The vote is 75,000 for McCain, 65,000 for Obama

Are you sure Karl Rove didn't have anything to do with this? Maybe he had Michelle tied to a railroad track somewhere. I can just picture him, dressed all in black, twirling the ends of his long mustache and laughing maniacally...I wouldn't put it past that Karl, he's a squirrely one!

                                              Karl=Squirrely

Put a beard on obamas face and a towel on his head and there you have it, Osama Bin Laden. Do we really want a terrorist as president, I mean just look at his name. Barak Obama, sounds a lot like Osama. What kind of name is Barak anyway? Is it an muslim name, if he is elected as president then this country will be a joke and the presidency will no longer be the instution that it is now, it will just be a joke.

I'm not worried about that. But I am worried about him allowing the crooks of ACORN to shape his administration.

Are you serious? Do you have a job? Seriously when I read a statement like that, one so devoid of sense and reason, I mean your saying he is a terrorist because he has a name similar to Osama, who employs you? How do you exist in this world, do they let you operate motor vehicle? Or perhaps you live in your mom's basement? You know he was named by his parents right...I'm pretty sure they didn't know who Saddam or Bin Ladin were when they named him...do you know what Barack means? It is originally from a hebrew origin but in African, his father was African...oooooohh, I know scary!!!! It means Blessed....and Hussein, do you know what that means???? It's an Arabic word which means "handsome". There are several million people who have that as their last name. Many are not Muslims. And Saddam was not around when he was named. We should be weary of all those who are named Lee or Harvey or John...lol...no but I really am serious...are you permitted by the state to operate a motor vehicle?

Fact: If Obama applied for a job at a federal agency, he would be refused.

He would be refused after the background check revealed his multiple connections to Bill Ayers.

Give me one good reason why a person whose connection to a terrorist keeps him from a federal job has the first damn reason in Washington doing anything, much less guiding our armed forces?

How do you fell about McCain's terrorist? You know, the one who killed millions more people?

                                                        McCain's extremist terrorist

Here's a name I'm sure Obama, McCain, Palin and everyone interested in politics is very familiar with: Henry Kissinger.

Indeed, Kissinger is honorary co-chair of McCain's New York campaign, and a foreign policy adviser to McCain himself.

And here's a very simple question that almost no one in the media seems to ask: If we're going to make the crimes of the radical left in the 1960s and 1970s a campaign issue - a time period much of which Barack Obama spent in elementary school - then how about the crimes of the radical right?

And make no mistake: Henry Kissinger has done things that, morally speaking, make Ayers' actions, deplorable as some of them surely were, look like the equivalent of jaywalking.

An abbreviated list of the events that have made it dangerous for Kissinger to travel overseas, because of the possibility he would be arrested as a war criminal, include: covertly sabotaging Vietnam peace talks in 1968 in order to help get Richard Nixon elected; playing a key role in convincing Nixon to launch illegal wars in Laos and Cambodia (the latter action helped create the conditions that led to the Cambodian genocide); helping to plan the overthrow of Chile's democratically elected government, which included numerous assassinations funded by the CIA (again, all this in direct violation of international law); and helping to facilitate the Indonesian invasion of East Timor, which may have killed as many as 200,000 civilians.

Kissinger appears to have had every bit as much contempt for the law as Ayers, with the difference being that his brand of contempt led to millions of deaths....

You know, people that are as ignorant as you are one of the big problems for the US.

                                                            Kissinger: Wanted for questioning

Here are some snapshots from the recent career of Henry Kissinger. In May of last year, during a stay at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, he is visited by the criminal brigade of the French police, and served with a summons. This requests him to attend the Palais de Justice the following day to answer questions from Judge Roger LeLoire.

The judge is investigating the death and disappearance of five French citizens during the rule of General Pinochet in Chile. Kissinger declines the invitation and leaves Paris at once.

In the same week, Judge Rodolfo Corrall of Argentina invites Kissinger's testimony in the matter of "Operation Condor". This was the codename for a state-run death-squad, operated by the secret police of six countries - Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Ecuador - during the 1970s and 1980s.

Its central coordination was run through an American base in Panama, at the time when the National Security Adviser and Secretary of State (and chairman of the committee overseeing all US covert operations) was Henry Kissinger. Again, Kissinger declines to answer written requests for information.

Later in the same year, Judge Guzman in Santiago, Chile, sends a written summons to the State Department requesting Kissinger's testimony about the death and disappearance of an American citizen, Charles Horman, in the early days of the Pinochet dictatorship. (Horman's story was dramatised by Constantine Costa-Gavras in the award-winning movie Missing.) Once again, no reply is received to this request for testimony.

On September 10, 2001, a major civil suit is filed in the Federal Court in Washington, DC, by the relatives and survivors of General Rene Schneider, the former head of the Chilean general staff, who was assassinated in 1970 because of his opposition to a military coup.

The lawsuit charges Henry Kissinger with ordering and arranging General Schneider's murder. The attorney for the plaintiffs, Professor Michael Tigar, announces that every document in the indictment comes from declassified government sources.

In the European spring of 2002, Judge Balthazar Garzon, of Spain, supported by other judges in France, asks Interpol to detain Kissinger for questioning during his visit to London.

In Chile, the courts announce that if they continue to meet with no response to their requests for cooperation, they may seek Henry Kissinger's extradition.

At the same time, the government of Brazil asks Kissinger to cancel a proposed visit to the city of Sao Paolo, saying that it cannot guarantee that he will be immune from attempts to indict him....

Georgia...where do I start... Bill Ayers works for a Public University...He was never found guilty or pleaded guilty to any crime, I'm not dismissing his actions here, an organization he help founded during the Vietnam war placed a bomb in 2 bathrooms after calling to evacuate all the people, the only people who died from a weather underground bomb was 3 members who blew themselves up by mistake...now...Ayers was voted Chicago Citizen of the year in 1997 for his civic work, he is repentant as far as I can tell, but moreover, he is not friends with Obama, no proof exists of any "friendship"...speaking to someone and serving on 2 educational boards funded by right wing republicans who are in the McCain Campaign supports does not make someone friends. "Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., told a radio host yesterday that by the time he found out about William Ayers' background as a member of a violent radical 70s group "The Weather Underground," "I assumed that he had been rehabilitated," since Ayers at that point had become an apparently accepted member of the Chicago academic world.

Ayers was, when Obama met him, "a college professor, teaches education at the University of Illinois, and that's how I met him, was working on a school reform project that was funded by an ambassador and former close friend of Ronald Reagan's and I was sitting on this board along with a whole bunch of conservative businessmen and civic leaders, and he was one of the people who was on this board."

But since 1995 -- when Obama met Ayers -- the founding member of the Weather Underground has gone on to make it clear that he doesn't think he did anything wrong. And Obama has worked with him (as have plenty of others, including some Republicans) on education issues and such. Obama would not be denied any federal job...and I don't think you understand what a background check is, or Obama's "background"

"In a comic strip that Ayers recently posted on his blog, Ayers tried to explain the "we didn't do enough" quote from seven years ago, writing, "It's impossible to get to be my age and not have plenty of regrets. The one thing I don't regret is opposing the war in Vietnam with every ounce of my being. During the Vietnam War, the Weather Underground took credit for bombing several government installations as a dramatic form of armed propaganda. Action was taken against symbolic targets in order to declare a state of emergency. But warnings were always called in, and by design, no one was ever hurt.

"When I say, 'We didn't do enough,' a lot of people rush to think, 'That must mean, "We didn't bomb enough s---."' But that's not the point at all. It's not a tactical statement, it's an obvious political and ethical statement. In this context, 'we' means 'everyone.' The war in Vietnam was not only illegal, it was profoundly immoral, millions of people were needlessly killed. Even though I worked hard to end the war, I feel to this day that I didn't do enough because the war dragged on for years after the majority of the American people came to oppose it. I don't think violent resistance is necessarily the answer, but I do think opposition and refusal is imperative."

So again...to use the word terrorist is simply to imply that Obama is an Arab terrorist, Anti Vietnam war protesters and Islamic fundamentalist are on very different sides...so we see the word terrorist being thrown around due to loose connections with Ayers, who is also tied to McCain, the weather underground was funded by a prominent McCain supporter...anyway so the word is a Trojan horse in a sense, in that it is meant to create an image in our head...when we hear Terrorist i defy anyone here to say they immediately picture an old white guy...so we see these words and phrases, like palling around with terrorists, and we are being told how to react. Throughout this campaign right wing bloggers aided by the McCain campaign have continued to spread the most vile, divisive garbage in the internet, a whisper campaign that Sen. Obama is a Muslim, or he is a spy, that he hates American, etc, etc., all lies, all charges that diminish the man who is the real John McCain, and we wonder why we see the reactions at McCain's rallies...what do you expect, these people have been told that the man is the Antichrist, now McCain in the same breath is going to say "no, no , he's an honorable man, and I respect him and admire his accomplishments..." Well which is it Senator McCain, time to own up to your campaign and to your party and to your message...you created this monster, now you deal with it, you brought out the worst in your party and fostered racial, cultural and religious insensitivity and hate, now you fix it...Sen. McCain likes to ask who is the real Obama? Well I know who he is, he's our next president and a man who I will be proud to vote for and have been proud to support with all of my time, money and energy...I think the real question is...who is the real John McCain?

I can't believe that anyone in their right mind would vote for Obama. He has lied over and over about his associations with terriorists and criminals. If anyone brings it up they play the race card. He is so involved in ACORN that they will steal this election. He is a FRAUD. I know there are a lot of black people who are smart enough not to follow like sheep just because he is partly black but there are a lot who think . I also think that it is true that if he gets votes , it will mostly be blacks and the youth who mostly are uninformed (some are but not enough) VOTER FRAUD. ACORN,OBAMA

Your commentary is EXACTLY why so many more Americans are eager to vote for Obama.

The supporters of McCain are incapable of understanding that the Fear and Smear they keep serving up reveals them to be soul-less Ideologues who thrive on demonization.

That's exactly the type of person that elected George W. Bush ... the Worst President in our History ... a man who's own personal Neo-Conservative ideology of Trickle Down Economics ... and War as 'just another' Product of the Economy ... has harmed our nation ... for years to come.

Your inability ... and the inability of the Agents of Division here on this thread ... to respect the intelligence of the American people ... and your inability to respect Truth and Justice ... have persuaded Patriotic Americans to support Obama.

We are VERY excited to potentially have an American who doesn't use his Religion to pander for votes.

We are VERY excited to potentially have an American who respects that Government can play a positive role ... unlike the Bush Administration ... who screws up Government .. then uses Socialistic Principles to bail out the mess.

We are VERY excited to potentially have Barack Obama as Presdient of The United States.

                                                          ..

Whats different than what the liberals on here do?

When libs throw out insults against Cons they are thanked and patted on the back. I've seen some of the most ridiculous comments on here voted over and over again as positive. Its the same thing for the Cons on here, they make ridiculous comments and then are patted on the back for their insults.

Petraeus to McCain and Obama - Take Another Look at the Surge

A s he leaves Iraq this week General David Petraeus is sounding far less optimistic than Republican candidate McCain about the American situation in Iraq. Gen Petraeus says that it remains “ fragile” , recent security gains are “ not irreversible” and “ this is not the sort of struggle where you take a hill, plant the flag and go home to a victory parade… it’ s not a war with a simple slogan.”

The Republican contenders have made their claims of success for the surge -- the American reinforcements sent last year -- although they are demonstrably contradicted by the fact that the US has to keep more troops, some 138,000, in Iraq today than before the surge. Another barometer of the true state of security in Iraq is the failure of the 4.7 million refugees, one in six of the population, who fled for their lives inside and outside Iraq, to return to their homes.

If John McCain wins the presidential election in November then his lack of understanding of what is happening in Iraq could ignite a fresh conflict. In so far as the surge has achieved military success it is because it implicitly recognizes America’s political defeat in Iraq. Whatever the reason that President Bush decided to invade Iraq and overthrow Saddam Hussein in 2003 it was not to place the Shia Islamic parties in power and increase the influence of Iran in Iraq. Yet that is exactly what has happened.

Iraq: They Make It a Desert and Call It Peace

Senator McCain’s insistent claims that the US is winning the war in Iraq thanks to his "surge" strategy are the military-political equivalent of the junk securities that Wall Street’s shady financiers have been selling around the globe.

...McCain’s claims that the US is heading toward victory in Iraq thanks to his inspired military leadership immediately recalled the epic words of Pyrrhus, King of Eprius. In 281 BC, after defeating a Roman army at Heraclea in an extremely bloody, hard-fought battle in which his forces suffered grave losses, Pyrrhus famously exclaimed, "one more such victory and we are ruined!"

...The real reason for the drop in violence and attacks on US occupation forces lies in three other areas. First, ethnic cleansing. The US occupation quietly abetted the ethnic cleansing by Shia militias of millions of Sunni Iraqis. The US took yet another page from Israel’s West Bank occupation copybook by segregating off entire neighborhoods of Iraqi cities with high, concrete walls, and conducting round-the-clock house search operations.

Today, between four and five million Iraqis are either refugees in neighboring nations or internally displaced, one of the world’s biggest number of refugees. Most are Sunni Muslims. The United States is wholly responsible for this human disaster.

Second, US occupation forces finally got smart and realized it’s cheaper to buy off your foes than try to kill them all. So the US now pays 80,000 Sunni gunmen, called Awakening Councils, to fight resistance forces. Attacks by al-Qaida fanatics in Iraq against fellow Sunnis opposing US occupation drove the more moderate resistance groups into the arms of the US.

But now, the US is handing control of these Sunni gunmen, which were patterned on death squads in El Salvador, over to Shia control. The US-armed Sunni militias who sought protection against Shia government forces by siding with the Americans are now likely to become a major new problem.

Third, the firebrand Shia militia leader, Muktada al-Sadr, whose ragtag Mehdi Army used to fight US forces, has gone to ground and ordered his gunmen to stack their arms. His volte-face reflects changes in internal Shia politics but also pressure from Iran which, fearing attack by the US, ordered Muktada to stop his attacks.

But less violence, at least for now, does not in any way mean victory.....

During the Cold War, my country Norway, a member of NATO, looked forward to a world in which both NATO and the Warsaw Pact would be shut down and replaced by an All-European Security Order.

The collapse of the Soviet system and the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact made that a possibility, but instead of disbanding NATO, it then took on the role of volunteer army for US interventions in foreign countries. Contrary to repeated promises to the leaders in Moscow, NATO established military bases in country after country that had been part of the Soviet Union or the Warsaw Pact.

When Khrushchev installed missiles in Cuba, the world felt itself pushed to the brink of atomic war, and yet today, Western leaders are demanding that Russians see the installation of our missiles along their border as tokens of friendship.

Georgian “democracy” owes more to Josef Stalin than Thomas Jefferson.

Georgia is not only the country that gave the world Stalin and his most violent henchmen, notably Lavrenti Beria and Grigory Ordzhonokidze. It is a country whose current first lady proclaimed that her husband was a worthy inheritor of those brutes. In 2004, Sandra Roeloffs, the Dutch wife of pro-American president Mikheil Saakashvili, told a newspaper in her home country, “Georgia has produced strong leaders: Stalin, Beria, Gamsakhurdia [the post-Soviet leader], even Shevardnadze before he became addicted to power. They looked further than Georgia alone. My husband does the same. He fits in the tradition. This country needs a strong hand. It is extremely important that respect for authority returns. I think my husband is the right person to frighten people.”

...It did not take long for the political situation in the country to spiral out of control. Okruashvili’s arrest caused large demonstrations against the Saakashvili government in early November. Vast numbers of heavily armed police were deployed to crush the revolt, and the demonstrators were severely beaten. Even though TV shots of this were broadcast on CNN, Saakashvili continued to be lauded as a democrat....

... It was against this background of rising political instability and plummeting political fortunes that Mikheil Saakashvili launched his midnight onslaught on South Ossetia on Aug. 7. He evidently thought, like the Argentine generals who invaded the Falkland Islands in 1983, that a short war of national liberation would boost his flagging support. He miscalculated. **** Cheney may have flown to Tbilisi to promise again that Georgia will soon join NATO in spite of the defeat and to commit forces to restoring Georgia’s territorial integrity, but Cheney will be out of a job by next January and so his promises are not worth much. And judging by the swiftness with which political justice is executed in Georgia, Saakashvili—who has probably now caused Georgia to lose her two secessionist regions forever—may soon follow him into early retirement, or worse.

According to housing experts, a large number of subprime loans were not made under the CRA, which applies only to depository institutions. A study released earlier this year by a law firm specializing in CRA compliance estimated that in the 15 most populous metropolitan areas, 84.3 percent of subprime loans in 2006 were made by financial institutions not governed by the CRA. Moreover, Janet Yellen, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, stated in a March 2008 speech that "studies have shown that the CRA has increased the volume of responsible lending to low- and moderate-income households".

In the report, Fannie Mae also noted the growth of subprime lending and reported, "These trends and our decision not to participate in large amounts of these non-traditional mortgages contributed to a significant loss in our share of new single-family mortgage-related securities issuances to private-label issuers during this period." ...

In a separate interview aired that day with Matt Lauer, co-host of NBC's Today, Clinton stated of the financial situation: "[T]his thing really took off when the SEC, under this administration, exercised less oversight and they got rid of something called the uptick rule, which enabled betting down on housing stocks to go crazy."

After a June 13, 2007, decision that became effective July 3, 2007, the SEC issued a final rule that repealed the uptick rule....

If hypocrisy were currency, conservatives would be able to single-handedly bail out the nation's free-falling financial system in less than a week, without the rest of us having to front so much as a penny.

We have Neil Cavuto of Fox News, followed by Rush Limbaugh a few days later, along with smaller-market talk radio hosts and commentators, insisting that the nation's current financial mess is not the fault of greedy investors, free-wheeling bankers, speculators and other assorted rich people taking advantage of a largely deregulated market for bogus investments. Rather, it is the fault of poor people and those who seek to serve their communities, and especially folks of color, and those who insist on such things as civil rights.

How so? Simple: according to these blowhards, laws like the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act, which seeks to steer investments to economically marginalized communities so as to stimulate economic development and reverse the longstanding process of racial and economic redlining, is the real culprit. If banks hadn't been forced to throw good money after bad, and make loans to "minorities and risky folks" as Cavuto said on September 18th, none of this would have happened.

...First, the Community Reinvestment Act only applies to banks and thrifts that are federally-insured. This means that the independent mortgage brokers, who are responsible for half of all the nation's sub-prime lending--and who have been writing such loans at more than twice the rate of banks and thrifts--aren't even covered by the law. And make no mistake, it was the hand of the mortgage broker, more than any other, that precipitated the housing bubble.

... CRA-related loans, for instance, the fact is, these represent nearly one-fourth of all loans written, but less than 10 percent of the high-cost, high-risk loans that precipitated the current crisis. These loans actually have lower default and foreclosure rates than non-CRA connected loans, and are twice as likely to be retained in the portfolios of the banks that originated them than other loans. In other words, it is not CRA loans being dumped into the hands of greedy speculators, and then falling flat, taking the economy with them....

.... So there you have it: white conservatives who simply cannot bring themselves to blame rich white people for anything, and who consistently fall back into old patterns, blaming the poor for poverty, black and brown folks for racism, anybody but themselves and those like them. That anyone takes them seriously anymore when they prattle on about "personal responsibility" is a stunning testament to how racism and classism continue to pay dividends in a nation whose soil has been fertilized with these twin poisons for generations. Unless the rest of us insist that the truth be told--and unless we tell it ourselves, by bombarding the folks who send us their hateful e-mails with our own correctives, thereby putting them on notice that we won't be silent (and that they cannot rely on our complicity any longer)--it is doubtful that much will change.

We're going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the Untied States of America."

                                                                                STANDING OVATION.

Frankly ACORN sounds an awful lot more attractive and pro-american than the groups supporting McCain.

                                                                                          The Terrorist Barack Hussein Obama

At McCain-Palin rallies, the raucous and insistent cries of ?Treason!' and ?Terrorist!' and ?Kill him!' and ?Off with his head!' as well as the uninhibited slinging of racial epithets, are actually something new in a campaign that has seen almost every conceivable twist. They are alarms. Doing nothing is not an option.

What makes them different, and what has pumped up the Weimar-like rage at McCain-Palin rallies, is the violent escalation in rhetoric, especially (though not exclusively) by Palin. ..

McCain, who is no racist, turned to this desperate strategy only as Obama started to pull ahead....

... No less disconcerting was a still-unexplained passage of Palin's convention speech: Her use of an unattributed quote praising small-town America (as opposed to, say, Chicago and its community organizers) from Westbrook Pegler, the mid-century Hearst columnist famous for his anti-Semitism, racism and violent rhetorical excess. After an assassin tried to kill F.D.R. at a Florida rally and murdered Chicago's mayor instead in 1933, Pegler wrote that it was ?regrettable that Giuseppe Zangara shot the wrong man.' In the ?60s, Pegler had a wish for Bobby Kennedy: ?Some white patriot of the Southern tier will spatter his spoonful of brains in public premises before the snow falls.'

This is the writer who found his way into a speech by a potential vice president at a national political convention. It's astonishing there's been no demand for a public accounting from the McCain campaign. Imagine if Obama had quoted a Black Panther or Louis Farrakhan - or William Ayers - in Denver.

The operatives who would have Palin quote Pegler have been at it ever since. A key indicator came two weeks after the convention, when the McCain campaign ran its first ad tying Obama to the mortgage giant Fannie Mae. Rather than make its case by using a legitimate link between Fannie and Obama (or other Democratic leaders), the McCain forces chose a former Fannie executive who had no real tie to Obama or his campaign but did have a black face that could dominate the ad's visuals. ....

Actually I was surprised by the number of times Barrack mentioned Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was a Republican and a veteran. Barrack is neither. As to his quoting, I'd like to hear him quote how he encouraged his 2 little girls to sit and listen to the racist Wright for years. Or how he doesn't actually know Ayers even though his book was ghost written by him.

Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson, both of them are waist to neck deep in the mortgage debacle. Both Raines and Johnson have served as CEO of Fannie Mae, with Raines taking over from Johnson. Both are key political and economic advisers to Obama.

Actually, ACORN, and many other such bipartisan, Repub. & Democ organizations have existed throughout most of the USA history. Acorn is an honest organization that has had some dishonest employees/volunteers - just as have the other such organizations. During the 2000 elections it was partisan Repub. organizations found to be registering dead, out of country, non-citizan, etc. - leading to many prosecutions and thousands of votes being cast out nationewide. Every election the major parties have used dishonest tactics, but these were usually committed by dishonest employees/volunteers who wanted to give their party the edge even at the cost of breaking the law. When Acorn suspects someone of doing this they dismiss them and have even reported some of the worse to law enforcement. Acorn also flags the registrations of persons in which they suspect the info is incorrect or illegal. However, most of the media have failed to make that known to it's readers/viewers. The Repub. party, presently losing in the poles, is pulling all strings to attempt to discredit Acorn - even though Acorn has registered over one hundred thousand Repub. voters & tens of thousands of independent voters.

It is through these organizations that the disabled, elderly shut ins, poor, etc. have been able to register to vote and to vote in the last 3 - 4 Pres. elections. Each year we are seeing more and more of these citizens voting in the national and state elections. Over 90% of those who are registered by these organizations are legal voter registrants. But that will not stop McCain/Palin from trying to destroy such.

Republican leaders break ranks with McCain

...From inside and outside his inner circle, Mr McCain is being told to settle on a coherent economic message and to tone down attacks on his rival which have sometimes whipped up a mob-like atmosphere at Republican rallies.

And a string of other senior party figures said Mr McCain's erratic performance risks taking the party down to heavy losses not just in the presidential race but also in contests for Congressional seats....

In Nebraska, a Republican representative, Lee Terry, ran a newspaper ad featuring support from a woman who called herself an "Obama-Terry voter". ....

ACORN is an organization of poor and middle class families. DUH Obama would want to represent the ordinary citizen, who hasn't been represented in government for such a long time.
And the accusation(also made by McCain, who doesnt know jack about the economy) that ACORN and Obama pushed for bad loans is BS as well. For a long time, ACORN has pushed for fair loans from legitimate banks for poor and middle class families, and they try to push out the bad ones that led to this financial crisis we're having.

McCain is loosing because he has no program, only sound bites. Look where we are today in a major recession and McCain has no initiatives to pull us out. He wants to continue the Bush Tax cuts that have failed, and with the the deficit they caused he can't afford another major cut. So what will pull us out of the recession? Maverick hot air? Gettin tough with Wall Street? He has nothing! If we take his economics There won't be enough of our economy to worry about. Look around - Ten trillion dollar debt; $400 Billion deficit; Six percent unemployment and rising; Credit disaster. What has McCain said he would change in concrete terms? Earmarks worth, at most $18 billion? peanuts. Unspecified "spending cuts"? Not if he continues defense spending where it is now. So you people have to make up fantasy about Acorn. If you had any respect for this county you would stick to the issues and recognize the failures of the Conservative Republican policies.

They report the tax cuts did not help the economy and are the primary reason for the deficit. It turns out that giving billionairs hundreds of millions did not increase spending much. Surprise! As for Fannie and Freddie, McCain acts like they were the cause of the credit crisis. He was just continuing the Banking industry's attempt to restrict Fannie and Freddie. When did he warn about derivatives? When did he warn about Indymac? He was just carrying the banking industry's water, just like when he gave a speech calling for less banking regulation on March 25, 2008. Now he is trying to pretend he has been warning about the crisis. Just lies. Can anyone out there identify a speech where he warned about the banking industry in general, calling for better regulaiton? I can't and I bet you can't. Any takers?

Wow, it's clear you really haven't done much home work. Tax cuts are always good. The problem with the Bush tax cuts? 40% of the population of the US doesn't pay any Federal Income Tax. That same 40% used a much larger percentage of the services we provide. Something else missed with the Budget Office didn't take into account are the 15 million illegal aliens living in this nation. Health care, welfare and school taxes would drop drastically if you refuse all services for them. BTW-not only cutting off services including credit cards and home loans but deportation would be required.

As to the Iraqi question, I think in the long-term Bush will be remembered favorably as was Truman and Korea. We stopped a dictator that would have been removed has we fought the Gulf War correctly. Instead we let the UN deal with it. We know how successful they've been at fighting wars. They've never won one yet.

On the economy, that's difficult to judge. We continue to see gloom and doom just like we did in 1992 from the media. Housing and the auto industry are way down. Yet we're seeing some markets go crazy. The cost of oil had more to do with this than anything else. Gas went up and the American SUV markets died. Heavy equipment sales have been huge. At least for export. We've got customers with 5 and 10 years of booked business. I a correction of this nature, I suspect we will see a smaller stronger national economy.

One other point, McCain did point out problems at Freddie and Fanny but he was shouted down by many of the DNC including Dennis Kusinich and Barney Frank.

High unemployment. No economic progress. No substantial creativity. No hope for improvement. Puppets, everyone is a puppet. Socialism, communism, despotism. Read the history books. A president Obama? Good luck, America. And the Founding Fathers will weep.

As in any organization there could be a few over zealous people making mistakes and they should be punished. But to condemn the entire organization is unfair.

They represents everything their supposed to be against. Voter Fraud, their being charged with that in a number of states. Voter Intimidation, again, isn't slashing tires of GOP cars and trashing the GOP offices? They been done by members of ACORN. ACORN and organizations like this should be closed down and the 527's should be removed from the election process. No one is intimidated anymore. The hippy protesters from the 60's are simply digging up more bogus claims trying to revive the 60's again. Tell you what, if you want 527's to exist, let them buy liability insurance. So when they're caught breaking the laws and slandering innocent people, they pay up. Some accountability would be nice. Then again what insurance carrier would touch them.

Seems there is some people following how polls effect the economy. When Obama's lead widens, the market tanks. Now that MCain's numbers are rising, so are the markets. Interesting, very interesting....and frightening. November 4th and Obama wins, full blown GREAT Depression.

He made a point of bring up polls and the market. Trends are showing that as Obama widens his lead, the market dives. Now that McCain is gaining, we've had an upswing. Very interesting. If Obama wins in November, that we will truly be in a Great Depression?

I'm not sure about that totally. If Barry gets in, business will begin to pull out. We can't afford the taxes and environmental pressures the left wants to add. While we all want clean air and water, at what price? You pull all the coal plants off line and 80% of the US will suffer from brownouts. Increase clean air standards again, you won't have many factories left. All foundries will be forced to move. If foundries are gone and metal fab done away with, why not move all production off shore. Mexico, Southeast Asia, South America and even Africa will see increases in factories.

If they have memers who cheat, then punish those members. While we're at it, we can begin to jail some of the Republican operatives who purge legitimate voters each election cycle simply because they are registered as democrats.

Actually, where I live both the dem and republican congressmen(woman) (we have 5 total) are pretty reasonable people regardless of their differences. But, there are some real crazies in congress right now.

Did any of you bother to listen to what Obama REALLY said? He said his team would be sitting down with all those community organizing groups -- to get the grass-roots input that would help shape his agenda. Not only is there nothing wrong with that, I would hope that every new Administration would want to do the smae thing. Find out what the big problems are from people who work on problem-solving at a community level. HE didn't say they WOULD shape his agenda. He said he would get input from them -- that such input would "HELP" shape the agenda. Not that ACORN, or any other group, would decide what the agenda is -- just that his Administration would seek out their input. Any President who doesn't do that ought to be made King -- since he doesn't need or wnat input from the groups who are on the front lines.
