What is priceless is that Obama worked for ACORN as a community Organizer and taught the very tactics that ACORN members are under indictment for and have been convicted of. And what does Obama do? Same thing he did with Wright after saying He could not disavow wright he then turned and removed him from his campaign then after pressure from his handlers left the church altogether. Now he puts out some nonsense through his NYT arm of the campaign that he never worked with ACORN. Same thing he said about Rezco "That is not the Rezco I knew" "That is not the Rev. Wright I knew" "Thant is not the Ayers I knew" "That is not the Odinga I knew" "That is not the ACORN I was an attorney for and taught members how to collect voter registrations" As Shultz put it "I know nothing"

Thank you for proving what we already know. We don't like McCain. Never did. He's a naive opportunistic moderate.

A: Accomplishments by moderates.
We like when you liberals get around to actually telling the truth about McCain. It sure beats the hate-filled conjecture that normally describes your attacks on the man (and no, I'm not saying our side is innocent in that regard). But most importantly, it provides us the chance to lay out a reasoned argument why Obama is an even worse candidate for the Oval Office. -

You're missing the point here folks. This entire Acorn fraud and banker intimidation thing really isn't about Obama or McCain. It's about US, the people of America. If these allegations of fraud and banker intimidations are true, (looks like these allegations do have alot merit.) Then we the people are the ones being hurt here.
Reply
Are we going to stand by and let voter fraud, (lead by Acorn) decide who are next president is going to be? Are we going to allow Acorn to get away with intimidating bankers to lend money to people who clearly can not pay the loans back, to the point that it destroyed our economy? So now, we the people have to dig into our pockets to bail these corrupt creeps out. Is all this OK with everyone, I say no it's not. I say investigations must take place to stop this deep corruption that's going to ruin us. At this point, who gives a rats azz about McCain, Palin or Obama, Biden, ... and any involvement Obama and Dems may have, that just does not matter right now. What we should be doing is stopping this corruption before who knows what will happen next! It's got to be stopped. Can't you people see that this kind of deep corruption will be the end of this country as we know it? ACORN'S WIDE SPREAD VOTER FRAUD, ACORN'S WIDE SPREAD CORRUPTION by Intimidation in the Financial sector. This crap is going to ruin everything we beleive in and live for.
So how about we the people DEMAND INVESTIGATIONS into all this and prosecute anyone for their involvement in causing this huge mess we are in. **** on who we plan to vote for, seems it won't matter who we vote for anyway, Voter Fraud may simply decide for us in this election year. So, lets do something to stop that before our next elections... -

This is a non issue in terms of it's effect on Obama...not sure why the right is so into this story...I guess they just want to render Obama's victory illegitimate and blame everything from our poor economy to voter fraud on African Americans...interesting irony. Not one voter ever registered by ACORN has been accussed or convicted of voter fraud, they registered 1.3 million this year...I would say within that number there would be individuals who may perpetrate fraud, or mistakes as well, maybe even a 5% error rate...but if someone regiters 5 times he can't vote 5 times, only Diebold can do that...lol.

""Acorn" may not exactly be a household word, but it was on the cover of one of the newspapers I read in hard copy today, so it seemed worth getting into a marginal story that the GOP is trying to make central.
The key distinction here is between voter fraud and voter registration fraud, one of which is truly dangerous, the other a petty crime.
The former would be, say, voting the cemeteries or stuffing the ballot boxes. This has happened occasionally in American history, though I can think of recent instances only in rare local races. Practically speaking, this can most easily be done by whoever is actually administering the election, which is why partisan observers carefully oversee the vote-counting process.
The latter is putting the names of fake voters on the rolls, something that happens primarily when organizations, like Acorn, pay contractors for new voter registrations. That can be a crime, and it messes up the voter files, but there's virtually no evidence these imaginary people then vote in November. The current stories about Acorn don't even allege a plan to affect the November vote.
So the New York Post's story leads:
Two Ohio voters, including Domino's pizza worker Christopher Barkley, claimed yesterday that they were hounded by the community-activist group ACORN to register to vote several times, even though they made it clear they'd already signed up.
There's not even an allegation that the guy was being pressed to vote twice.
Acorn, meanwhile, is denouncing the raid on its Nevada office as a political stunt and says it had tried to alert authorities to its own bad registrations.
And Acorn is taking credit for registering 1.3 million new voters, which is a lot, though the fake ones, of course, along with being against the law, are worthless.
This is a non story...you republicans better prepare for the next 3 weeks and come up with an economic policy that doesn't sound completely ridiculous. -

I am a bit of a jaded liberal, and know quite a few "new agers".
I can find plenty to fault them with.
But I do know some PHD lawyer type folks that attempt to live by their secular liberal Ideals, and work for peanuts to help out poor folks.
I recently got ripped a new one, because I supported the statement of one of the conservative folks here, that said that ACORN paid by how many registration forms where filled out.
Well: I can see how some of those folks could be stuck, wanting to give someone a job and not a handout, and getting screwed by the rules.
They have to turn in the forms. It is the law. They are guilty of having a soft ass.

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
Mar 12:42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
Mar 12:43 And he called [unto him] his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

This story is very comical. It leaves out the juicy details. This event was sponsored by many organizations, not just ACORN. The local Catholic archdiocese, SEIU and others. The topic was immigration. So, it is a case of McCain crossing the so called aisle to talk about a topic that has proven to cause him some partisan misery. A case of John reaching out to the other side to try to further the debate on a critical topic. And orgasmic liberals see it as an undying love for ACORN. I really loved the statement that Bertha Lewis, Acorn's chief organizer, sent with the photo:

Is it just me, or do others think the Acorn Voter fraud thing is being swept under the rug by most of the news media. I've been watching news stations such as CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and MSLSD and only FOX is reporting this stuff. Doesn't this prove what I've been saying that these news sources are covering up anything and everything that could look badly for Obama and the democrats. I do beleive those news sources are totally in the tank for Obama and the Dems. There is no longer any doubt about that. So, happy brain washing to you all!

Does it sound Like ACORN is being a bit sarcastic in the Headline of this thread?

"The Obama campaign is now distancing itself from Acorn, claiming Mr. Obama never organized with it and has nothing to do with illegal voter registration. Yet it's disingenuous to channel cash into an operation with a history of fraud and then claim you're shocked to discover reports of fraud. As with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers, Mr. Obama was happy to associate with Acorn when it suited his purposes. But now that he's on the brink of the Presidency, he wants to disavow his ties."

anyone who has never participated in a voter registration drive, has no right to criticize acorn. i have personally registered hundreds of voters and i can't guarantee any of them. that is the job of each state's sec'y of state to verify the new registrations. people who go out to register new voters are not seeking to commit fraud...they are seeking to increase participation in our democracy. (any of you have a problem with that?)
Reply
it is hard, thankless work...and there is no way to verify that the person you've solicited to register is already registered or lying about his/her legal status. i can state unequivocally that i have never registered a dead person and don't know anyone who has.
finally, to my knowledge there has NOT been an indictment or conviction of any organization for registering people to vote. if any one is guilty of voter fraud it is the individual who knows he/she is not eligible or already registered. if already registered, they wouldn't be able to vote twice anyway.
this kind of obsessive focus on "voter fraud" is a red herring to divert attention from the very real election "irregularities" practiced by republicans. hanging chad and elections decided by a candidate's brother & the supreme court...diebold machines that have been tampered with and such like.-

SEATTLE (AP) -- Prosecutors filed felony charges against seven people in what one official described as the worst case of voter registration fraud in state history.
Meanwhile, in a settlement announced Thursday, the organization they worked for agreed to keep a better eye on its employees and pay $25,000 to defray costs of the investigation.
The seven workers submitted about 1,800 false registration cards last fall on behalf of Association of Community Organizations for Reform, which had hired them at $8 an hour to sign up people to vote, charging documents filed in Superior Court show.
Secretary of State Sam Reed said at a news conference it was Washington state's most serious instance of voter registration fraud.
Investigations resulting in charges or convictions of ACORN voter-registration employees occurred in 2004 in Ohio; in 2005 in Colorado; in 2006 in Kansas City, Missouri; in 2007 in Washington state In the Washington case, ACORN agreed to pay King County $25 000 for its investigative costs and acknowledged that the national organization could be subject to criminal prosecution if fraud occurs again.
More to come.

Like all liberal groups, they start with good intentions only to end in corruption. Acorn has been involved with voter fraud in Milwaukee and Chicago for years. They've had people registering nursing home patients and getting them to sign absentee ballots of course supporting the DNC candidates. They've registered entire NFL football teams from other states. They've registered dead people. Their excuse? The support of the liberal causes. Complain and it's racism.

I think right wingers have decided with this campaign that they should give up any hope of ever attracting any significant number of African-Americans to the GOP and so they're basically going for broke in twisting up the smear quotient. Cons realize that whether Obama wins or loses.

fraudulent voter registration forms on someones desk and walk out. Then come back two weeks later after the forms have been open and processed and tell those people that the forms they turned in were fraudulent..well after anything can be done about it.
And they do this in state after state and get away with it.
All because their spokesperson is telling the country what a great service they are doing by signing up new voters. -
