It is not startling or controversial to learn that in Islam, as in Christianity, the religion of a child is considered to be that of the father. It therefore is not startling at all that Obama's religion at birth was that of his father, namely Islam.
Reply
What is shocking is that Obama has so completely and in absolute terms denied he is Muslim - when the truth is that was his birth religion. After all, there is nothing wrong with Islam or being a Muslim, with over 1 billion adherents. The oddity here is to have a man so adamantly denying who he is and his heritage. This is why so many Americans are getting very suspicious of Obama - if he cannot even tell the simple truth about who he is, reasonable people ask, what other skeletons rest in his closet.-

Thank you for pointing out your racism.

People lie, but Obama has been a Christian for quite some time, is comfortable asserting he's a Christian and has acted more like a Christian than any GOP member I've run across.
Considering the number of lies per minute flowing out of the McCain/Palin campaign like crap through a sewer, I'd be less likely to believe their assertions. Remember that until recently McCain was atheistic and pro-choice. Until it didn't suit his political ambitions, anyhow.-

Based on the velocity and ferocity of the lies, distortions, and hate McCain has inherited more than just the same broken economic policies of the Bush administration.

Deny as he might, if it walks like Bush, talks like Bush, Lies like Bush, and Stinks like a Republican....just more of the same, McShame.
Do the honorable thing John, admit that you have joined the enemy of America, and tell the Audience that you are mad as hell and not going to do it anymore....you are going to vote for Obama.

As an American he is entitled to the laws and constitutional protection of this land. I don't believe there is an established releigion here so the customs and/or bylaws of any religion do not apply here, They especailly don't belong in a presidental election.
What is even funnier is that John McCain said Barack Obama is a Christian just the other day.
Are you one of the ones that boo'ed?
This is why so many Americans are getting very suspicious of Obama
It's only the wackos who believe that. Of course we have quite a few wackos so don't count them out, after all we did get 4 more years of Jr. didn't we? -

Thing is, you've obviously already made up your mind to what the 'truth' is. An an analogy: "Why can't you admit you're a foot fetishist? Nothing wrong with it, so why would you lie and say you are not? Since you can't own up to your own identity, there must be something wrong with you."

Obama's father was apostate at the time of Barack's birth, so he was not born Muslim. His upbringing was largely secular. In fact, Obama likely received more formal religious instruction at the Catholic school he attended.
I don't think anyone really knows what faith is about until well into their teens anyway. My early school records probably list my faith as Episcopal, that doesn't make me one now, and I don't think it made me one then either.-

You are ignoring that for a good part of the time he was in Indonesia he was raised Muslim and went to a mosque regularly. He learned the prayers. So for him to say NEVER is a lie. If he would have just admitted that for a while he was raised a Muslim nothing else would have been said. The problem is that he lied.

"...went to a mosque regularly." It was a few times. I went with my mother to church on holidays. I even recited a couple of prayers. I can recall the Lord's Prayer. Obama never said he never went to a mosque. He has said he was never a Muslim. He has certainly affirmed many in his family were Muslim, but he was not 'raised a Muslim' any more than I was 'raised an Episcopalian'. Church was never anything more than a boring bunch of mumbo-jumbo. One has to AFFIRM one is a Muslim, which Obama never did.

You WANT there to be a 'truth' for which there is no real evidence.

Obama, the Christian radical associate of Reverend Wright closet muslim who used a Christian Church as a 20 year beard and bows toward Mecca the requisite number of daily times in the back of his specially made tinted window PT cruiser, so no one can see
I saw Obama on youTube eating pancakes during Ramadan...
Y'all oughta just quit it with this stuff. America certainly has its share of idiots, but it's just not gonna work this time. I have to go blog abut stinky airplanes and voter fraud with people that haven't even voted and Obama going fishing and drinking coronas with Vietnam terrorists on his weekends, so I'll catch y'all later-

It would be funny if these people werent so sad.
Reply
Digging deeper and deeper into a hole of desperation.
They are merely setting themselves up as opponents to ANY and EVERYthing that President Obama will do to right this country.
Unfortunately, they are more concerned with their 'party' than the betterment of our country.
Sad indeed. -

And all this time I've thought that a child becomes Christian when he/she is christened, and even then has to undergo religious education and various ceremonies to become a full-fledged Christian. I've learned something new again.

I have news for you: those who are suspicious have always been suspicious. Nobody is "getting" suspicious. -

You are incorrect. I was speaking this weekend to a woman from Illinois, who had voted for Obama and had been a fervent supporter of his until a few weeks ago. Sarah Palin's candidacy made her an Undecided, and she has begun to be suspicious of some of Obama's claims and associations. She lamented his secretive attitude, telling me that they had all liked him so much in Illinois, saying he was "So GQ!" But now that she sees how many lies he's told, how many things he seems to be hiding, how many questionable relationships he has, she doesn't trust him any more. She wants to know what else he's hiding. She and her husband have changed their minds about voting for him.

So yes, some people are getting suspicious.
And they are voting McCain/Palin.-

The man has written extensively about his upbringing. I suppose y'all can claim a victory in making this an election more about image than issues.
You simply cannot come p wit a reason to for FOR McCain, so you manufacture reasons to vote AGAINST Obama. That's not Democracy, that's smear tactics.
