That is partially true in the Orthodox Muslim faith. A child born to a Muslim in good standing is a Muslim. However, Obama's birth father was apostate at the time of Barack's birth. If a child is not born Muslim, they must affirm their faith in Islam in front of another Muslim in good standing in order for the church to recognize them as belonging to the faith (akin to a Confirmation or a Bar/Bat Mitzvah).

I once went on a field trip to different houses of worship, including a mosque. The guide there said that all children, until the age of 12, are considered Muslim. At 12, however, you have a "right to chose your path." That means that you can choose your religion. I think it is crucial that CHOICE is the deciding factor in following a religion.

personally i think any religion is a serious impediment to lucid thinking but in the greater scheme of things i couldn't give a rat's if he is or not. anyone caught up trying to make something out of it shows only their own ignorance and intolerance
