Both Sen. Obama and Mr. Ayers spoke at a testimonial dinner for Rashid Khalidi, a former member of the Palestine Liberation Organization and a founder of the rabidly anti-Israel Arab American Action Network, when Mr. Khalidi left the University of Chicago for Columbia University. Sen. Obama lectured part time at the University of Chicago law school from 1993 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004.-

Obama states in his book, The Audacity of Hope, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction." He has had questionable friendships throughout his life even in college. What do we know about his college, Pakistan roommates? His associations all appear radical even with this Acorn group whose actions are questioned by protesting and intimidating bankers and their families to make them give out loans to people who coudn't afford them. Then Obama takes in Frank Raines as an advisor, who took $90 million dollars from Fannie Mae while working only 6 years there. And now we have to deal with all the voting registration fraud. This is just like his Socialist cousin Raila Odingo in Kenya who caused so much distress while running for president and lost., leaving the country in turmoil last Dec. 07. Is Raila in the country to help with registration??

Research what and who you vote for, check your resources, do not buy into the hype, think and reason for yourself. This is supposed to be an election for president not PR rock star. You are hiring the CEO of Firm USA. Who do you want to run the firm, a manager with over 25 years experience or the newly hired stockboy, with questionable judgement? If you complain about Palin's experience to be VP candidate where does that leave Obama? She has more real experience than he has. Or is Obama really running as Biden's VP? Birds of a feather flock together. With friends like his, why would the USA need any enemies?

This is just more Palinopsia. It's a real medical disorder. Look it up.
You see "facts" drawn from a well established liar, Andy Martin, and end up thinking lies are facts because they keep dancing before your eyes. Obama wrote both his books with his own hand. His connection with Mr. Ayers is tenuous at best. Ayers is not a terrorist. He did some terrible things 40 years ago when Obama was a child, but has redeemed himself and is a prominent member of his community today.
That's more than can be said for the rabid right and their push for a new racist, fascist state in America.-

Timothy McVeigh deliberately killed 173 innocent people. The Weather Underground set off a few bombs intended to do nothing but property damage. The only people who ever were injured or killed by their activities were 3 of their own members when a device they were building went off in their hands.

Fact is ... I look for your posts because they do such a good job of displaying for all to see .... exactly how Morally Depraved your position is.
Hey ... there's a story that our friend Beau7890 posted elsewhere on Propeller. I hope you check it out.
http://www.propeller.com/story/2008/10/13/the-man-...
It goes into fine detail about the profile of Andy Martin ... apparently, he's one of the inspirations for much of the garbage that you and the other 'Government Hating' Right Wingers get your material from.
FTA.
"Andy Martin is a law school graduate, but his admission to the Illinois bar was blocked in the 1970s after a psychiatric finding of 'moderately severe character defect manifested by well-documented ideation with a paranoid flavor and a grandiose character.' "
So ... blast away with your Lies, Cheats, Dis-Information, and blatant Propaganda ... but just remember ... ultimately the source is from loony paranoiacs.
And please ... keep posting your regular garbage.
America saw this with the whole 'Swift-Boat' thing.

George W. Bush the president you have unwaveringly supported from your first day on Netscape ... initially as luvmyprez ... then as AlphaGnosis ... and now ... well .... now you don't bring up his name any longer ... has the lowest recorded approvals.
Americans have awoken to this type of garbage.
'Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.'
I realize that Wolfie, redtomato, Nixie, Klarissa ... y'all don't have a very high opinion of American intelligence ... and God knows ... when Bush was given a second term ... I had my doubts ... but ... I'm hopeful that Americans have finally realized that the Neo-Con ideology that you support ... is contrary to traditional American Values.
So ... keep posting, y'all!-

much of what Obama says he wants to do is almost a repeat of Johnson's great society.
Reply
Now, some people think that was a good thing, but many other analysts believe that Johnson's "great society" policies were directly responsible for the breakdown of the African-American family, the increase in the rate of poverty, especially in families where poverty spans generations, the exponential increase in the rate of out-of-wedlock births which indirectly led to the gang culture.
one of the other things Obama would like to do is redistribute income "more fairly". He says he will do this by raising taxes on the "rich"people and giving "rebates" to those who are in too low an income bracket to pay income tax. First, if you didn't pay it in the first place, it's not a rebate, it's a handout. 2nd, how do you know that that guy that you deem to have made too much money didn't work 80 or 100 weeks busting his butt to make that? How do you know that he didn't employ several other people? Cries of "make it more fair" that are really saying "soak the rich" don't make things more fair, they just make our society even more divided.
There are other remedies. I am not sure that McCain's are the right ones, either.-

You're right, amazed... that CEO may have worked 2X as hard for his 300+ X as high wage... we should give him a break!
Reply
I think capping CEO salaries at 50 times the wage of the lowest-paid worker would be fair. You pay your workers a decent 20$ per hour, you can STILL earn $2MILLION per year, which should be PLENTY for anyone to live on. If you want more, and the company makes sufficient profits, pay your base-level employees more, and give yourself 50X the pay raise!-

That's not altogether a bad idea... it would ensure that the best and brightest are encouraged to look to government as an option instead of private enterprise.
Reply
But the flip-side is it might put pressure on government to raise the President's salary instead of lowering those of other CEOs. It also prevents companies from raising the salaries of the CEOs. Putting a limit which is in relation to the company's lowest-paid worker makes it easy to raise the CEO salary in good times, by paying the backbone of the organization what they deserve. It would provide a direct incentive to management to pay the lower rungs adequately, because their own salaries would be directly dependant on it.

I have no problem with a reasonable cap on CEO's salaries. Frankly, I cannot believe that there haven't been stockholder revolts. Like, what are these boards of directors thinking?
Reply
But $250K is NOT 300 times more than an average worker, and in some parts of the country, makes you comfortable, but not really rich. In addition, while a company that is formed as as C corporation, will pay corporate tax and the the owner/CEO will generally only pay income tax on his/her actual income, many small businesses are formed as S corporations or LLC's. In this case, any profit the company makes is taxed as personal income to the partners, regardless of whether they received it, it was ploughed back into the company or, as is often the case, simply a book profit. That will, indeed, put MANY small business owners (even quite a few who are struggling to keep their employees employed and their heads above water) above this $250 K mark.-

willottica1 year, 1 month ago
This comment is below the standard viewing threshold View It »
Or they could re-incorporate their businesses to get the most advantageous tax strategy for themselves, which they probably do already.
Reply
No, 250K is not 300 times more, but I can pretty much guarantee that there are those pulling a whopping 30K that work JUST as hard as the guy who gets 250K.
The issue is fairness, and people are constantly clamoring about the value of hard work to make a good living, but there are some that put in that hard work, and struggle daily because they are not paid fairly for it. Either they aren't good at asking for raises, or the opportunities aren't there, or they really enjoy what they do, see value in it, and aren't driven purely by the almighty dollar.
Oftentimes, people take advantage of a generous nature.

More importantly, if you are going to spread FALSE accusations about one, you MUST ACKNOWLEDGE the true accusations against the other.
I have always been negative about Bill Clinton and his adultery or Carter and his poor economic policies and his mishandling of the Iran hostage situation. I did not support Ted Kennedy when he was thinking about running for the presidency because of his affair with Mary Jo Kopechne. I have my eyes open about all the sins of the Democrat politicians.
I feel that I am fair and balanced.
You neocons, however, are totally blind or in denial about the sins of Bush, Rove, Cheney, et al. Now you are just as blind about the misdeeds of both McCain and Palin.
All the posts from the neocon side brush aside or deny any and all negative news about your candidates.
I have acknowledged mistakes or sins of the Democrats. I challenge you to acknowledge at least ONE sin or error from ANY of the Republican politicians. I dare you or any other neocon posters to do so.

If McC is so on board with the American worker; why did he choose Airbus over Boeing ?

Where?
Obama is victimized as he did vote against one troop funding bill; but because he did not like the timetable add on, yet McC also voted against Vet bills for the same reason, he did not like the add ons
So if Obama is against the troops, then McC is against the vets; yet neither is true if you just think; but it is a great way to keep all divided over non issues. -

"Did y'all know that there's a video of Veterans who oppose John McCain in which they voice a hatred of John McCain that is so deep ... so visceral .... you can just see the hatred for John McCain in their eyes and hear it in their voices"
Do you realize that Obama also has protesters that hate him, as with almost any other politician out there. This is called Freedom of speech, the same freedom that gives you the right to come on here and spew your bullsh!t all the time.

The official report is still pending. This report released Friday is from the legislature, it was initiated by Democrats. The personnel board is the proper body to investigate this type of matter. The legislature can investigate, but then must turn it's findings over to the personnel board for them to set the needed punishment, if applicable. All this legislative investigation did was point a finger to her and her husband while she is running for office. It's just more smear, that is why they moved the date up, instead of releasing their findings after the election, as it was originally planned before she was nominated for VeeP.
Reply
BTW, the legislative investigation found that she was legally right in replacing the commisioner.

Isn't that nice of her? To think, if she'd never become injured in that car accident on that icy road, she wouldn't have become so ugly that McCain had to divorce her.
If she'd only been more supportive of his constant philandering, instead of getting upset with him over it, she might not have been so irritating that McCain had to divorce her.
I would say that the only responsibility John McCain's ex has in their breakup is that she married him, for love, in the first place. If she'd just been more like Cindy, marrying him for power, she might have been better able to put up with his many abuses of their wedding vows.

Senator McCain has a loyalty to America that Obama has never known and Sara Palin has political experience. Obama is new to politics. In 2006, Obama's book, Audacity of Hope, he states, " I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Maybe because this bill was better:
enhances the existing Montgomery G.I. Bill by improving education benefits for servicemembers, veterans, and members of the Guard and Reserve. The legislation will help more military personnel attend college debt-free, and allow them to transfer their education benefits to their spouse or children. It also bolsters recruitment and retention efforts, encouraging servicemembers to continue their military careers.

Senate in 2004.
"Khalidi and Obama lived in nearby faculty residential zones and the two families dined together a number of times," a source on the University of Chicago faculty told Worldnet Daily. "The Obamas even babysat the Khalidi children."-

Kelly put forth numerous falsehoods and dubious statements in defense of the Bush administration's response to Hurricane Katrina.
As if Americans didn't see the whole fiasco unfold on national TV .... I mean ..... don't we all remember ''Heckuva job Brownie!''
But Kelly's column, with all it's lies and obfuscation, was quickly embraced by the conservative media (LOL ... isn't that ALL media) --- On September 12, it was posted on the Drudge Report and read aloud by Rush Limbaugh on his nationally syndicated radio program." In its article, Media Matters dissected five separate claims made by Kelly.

Doesn't matter. I fully acknowledge that McCain used to be a headstrong maverick and is basically a decent man. In ALL my posts I have never attacked his person or his character. I have repeatedly attacked his ideas, his decisions, and his capitulation to the ultra-right wing of the Republican party in order to secure his nomination.
Remember, McCain was maverick enough that John Kerry considered him for a running mate.
His faults now are in his erratic behavior and his errant decisions - like choosing Palin.
Another example - his suggestion during debate #2 that he wanted the bailout money to buy up the individual defaulted mortgages from the individual homeowners. That is a stupid suggestion. If you buy the over-valued mortgages directly, the government (ie. we taxpayers) now are stuck with a permanent loss. Also the paperwork and headaches in handling thousands to millions of individual mortgages would be very time-consuming and expensive.
Look at what Paulson finally decided to do. He is now going to use the money to buy up ownership positions in some of the more distressed banks by buying shares. This is a much smarter move in that we let the individual banks and mortgages handle the individual mortgages in their own portfolios, which they are in the best position to deal with. Yet we, the taxpayers can participate in the upside when the companies recover without any of the headaches.
Paulson's more intelligent approach (copied from the British bailout) is cool-headed and he doesn't play to the crowd like McCain has been doing.
Again, I am attacking McCain's ideas, decisions and his behavior, not his person or character.
Contrast that to this entire discussion board where unfounded accusations and innuendos about Obama and his connections with Kelly, Ayers, Khalidi. All of which have the underlying, unspoken accusation that Obama must be a terrorist. This is also related to the "swift-boat" accusations by Anthony Martin that Obama is a Muslim, he has a funny name, and he was schooled in a wahabbi school in Indonesia. Other than Obama's unusual name, everything else is false.
Martin and all you cons are just playing on your own paranoia and racism. There is no basis at all for any of these fears and misconceptions. But it has been replayed so often, these rumors and lies have taken on a life of its own.
That is the insidious evil of "swift-boating." The accusations do not have to be true. They just have to sound plausible to enough numbers of already doubtful, gullible racists to take on the aura of truth. If enough people are doubting, the hope is that enough votes will be siphoned off from Obama to deny him the electoral votes.
This entire discussion about Obama is baseless, sleazy, disgusting, and intelectually dishonest. All of you rumor-mongers and occult racists should ashamed of yourselves-

Then how do you characterize this?
Obama's new economic plan includes a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures for many homeowners.
In February, after Hillary Clinton proposed a similar foreclosure moratorium, the Los Angeles Times reported that Obama condemned her plan:
In San Antonio on Tuesday, Obama said that Clinton’s foreclosure freeze was potentially “disastrous,” rewarding “people who made this problem worse” by benefiting banks that profit from high mortgage rates.

He is over 35, and he is a natural-born American citizen. He meets all REQUIRED qualifications for the job.
For his additional qualifications, he has experience in state and federal senate. He has excellent education credentials. He is a good speaker, and motivates regular Americans. He is objective. He is calm in a tough situation.
Is McCain AS qualified? I really don't think so.
He has more experience as a federal senator - but his track record there doesn't make him more likeable.
He is also a Veteran, and was a POW. The former speaks to his patriotism and is applicable, the latter does and is not.
His educational record is poor (to be generous), as is his personal history. When the going got tough, McCain skedaddled. The first (and to many the most important) pledge McCain had to keep was to his wife, and he shattered it. Why would we expect him to treat his oath of office any differently?

A man who regularly dredges up every charge made by extremist kooks like Andy Martin and John Corsi ... both of whom are certifiable.
A man who chooses a small town politician exclusively to acquire the 'so called' Christian Conservative vote - because - as we all know ... John McCain has no real interest in religion and .... I think as Americans have grown to know these two ... that familiarity has caused McCain's poll numbers to drop ... and Barack Obama's to rise.
The REAL problem with Mainstream Media is .... their REFUSAL to provide any background on John McCain.

On Friday, McCain's campaign released a memo saying that Obama's affiliations with ACORN "raise serious questions about his judgment and ability to lead this nation." We know, we know ... this is a racist statement because Republicans are referring to Obama's days as community organizer. The McCain campaign has also posted a video which points to the connections between ACORN and the current mortgage crisis – the fact that ACORN, with the blessing of our own government, bullied banks into giving loans to people who they know could not pay for them. Question ... where was all of this information in the last debate? Why has John McCain waited until now to make these connections?
Reply
Naturally, the Obama campaign responds with my favorite line ... these attacks from the McCain campaign attempt to "'turn the page from the issues that matter to American families." So there you go. The people don't want to talk about this, they want to talk about the economy! Hey, Barack, how about explaining the fact that an organization you worked for and have hired to get out the vote for your campaign is partly responsible for the current economy, thanks to the mortgage meltdown. Here's a picture of Our Savior at an ACORN meeting!
http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/7203
Look at the picture and remember that some Obama mouthpieces say that he wasn't involved with ACORN. Yeah ... we're buying that.
Oh and the other response from Democrats ... the only reason the McCain campaign is hitting on ACORN is because McCain and Republicans are "hostile to the group's political agenda." Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. says, "They're scared of too many poor people preparing to vote this year." So now the McCain campaign is engaged in class warfare and the only reason they are attacking ACORN is because they don't want poor people to vote. That is the logic of a Democrat.-

Obama will invest $1 billion over five years in transitional jobs and career pathway programs that implement proven methods of helping low-income Americans succeed in the workforce.
Obama will double the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program to ensure that additional federal public transportation dollars flow to the highest-need communities and that urban planning initiatives take this aspect of transportation policy into account.
Obama will create 20 Promise Neighborhoods in areas that have high levels of poverty and crime and low levels of student academic achievement in cities across the nation.
The Promise Neighborhoods will be modeled after the Harlem Children's Zone, which provides a full network of services, including early childhood education, youth violence prevention efforts and after-school activities, to an entire neighborhood from birth to college.
Obama proposes to achieve almost universal service for the nation’s 17 million college students by offering a refundable annual tax credit of $4,000 toward college tuition. This program should cost about $65-100 billion a year, perhaps more if it substantially increases the number of students attending college.
In return for the credit, college students will be required to perform 100 hours of community service every year for four years. By offering college students a hefty $40 an hour, Mr. Obama will ensure that nearly every college student will participate in his program, without actually making their service mandatory.
Tax credits....
-$500 tax credit for 150 million workers.....$75 Billion
-Tax credit for the first $4000 of tuition for all college students.....(appox 16 million students)....$64 Billion
-Expand EITC 300% for low income workers.
-Provide $500 government matching funds for first $1000 in retirement savings
-Expand Child Care credit from 35% to 50% of costs
Increase Minimum Wage to a Living Wage indexed to inflation.
-Require 7 days of paid sick leave
-Expand FMLA to more employers and require many more excuses for leave including watching your children's school activities.
-Require all Employers to open IRA accounts for workers.
-New mandated payroll tax to cover employees health care plan for those who do not provide health care.-

"Silence!" (or "see-lawnnns") if we were just being a little annoying. But when she'd say "T'est toi!" her eyes would look temporarily like a rattlesnake's and you knew she meant "STFU this instant, rugrats!"

Enough? A person who is going to be President of the United States deserves to be investigated. Oh yea he was vetted, apparently not good enough. The American people have the right to investigate, ask questions and have their questions answered. Oh yea, he lives in my neighborhood is not an answer. We are not looking for someone to be poster boy for Acorn, we are looking to fill the highest position in our country.

It has nothing to do with the boogey man. People investigate baby sitters for their kids. There are background checks on hospital workers and bus drivers. They are done to protect people. There is nothing wrong with investigating someone who is going to lead our country. Investigations are being done, by the people, on both sides. The media has an obligation to not be biased. That is their job. Things that are wrong are wrong whether you are a republican or a democrat. In the end we are all just Americans, no hyphens. If it was wrong for Palin to try to have her ex brother-in-law fired, then why is it right for Obama to travel to Kenya, on your hard earned money, to campaign for a radical and try to influence another country, which by the way is one of our allies. Both are wrong.

My point, myquerty, is that Wolfie (and others who share his...opinion) keep posting stories that make the same "points" about Obama--that spill and spread the same rumors, again and again and again and again and again and again...

...and again.
Those who believe them do and will. Those who don't, don't and won't. Few on either side are suddenly going to "see the light" and change their opinion about whom to vote for. So these posts are a way of indulging one's hate, fear and prejudice in public and getting corroboration of same. They're masturbatory. (And believe me, I have nothing against masturbation, appropriately performed.)
So, for those of us who contribute to Propeller daily, and have already read tons of Woolfie's stuff:

I don't know how to post this comment, but will try. There is no "closet radical" about Obama; he is openly a far, far left Socialist who has associated with many radical and far from admirable people in the past. After so many of their predecessors suffered died horrible deaths in World War II, it is difficult for me to understand how so many decent Jewish people are will to take a chance on the lives and safety of their fellow Jews in Israel, by voting for such a questionable and dubious person as Obama. He may, and likely will, undermine America's support of Israel, if elected.

Please people, stop thinking that it all revolves around Obama or McCain and focus on what is important. Everything Americans treasure has been brought about with a Democratic administration. Women' voting rights, 40 hour weekday, social security, medicare are only a few of the perks that we all are enjoying, were democratic initiatives. If you don't believe me, look it up. The past administration has sunk us so low in debt we may never swim to the top again. Our prestige and pride has been eroded by the present aministration. We need to get them out and we do not need more of the same. Think party not individuals.

Maybe noone told you ... the present day Republican party was reinvented by ex-democrats such as Scoop Jackson and Jeanne Kirkpatrick.
Reply
These liberals took the Republican party into a whole different direction.
In fact, their ideals are anti-American in nature. Didn't you know that part of the Neo-Con initiation is draping the American Flag on a World Globe, spitting on it, then setting the whole display on FIRE?
Does that sound like a party with American Values to you?
You should also know that one of the things that this new party stands for is spying on their own citizens.
That's why Bush promoted the Patriot Act so strongly ... he's all part of the Neo-Conservative Revolution.
In fact, you are most probably being watched right now.
And for sure, your phone is being tapped.
If I were you, I would vote for Barack Obama ... right now ... he's the only candidate that will protect your privacy.
And believe me, Paul Steady ... you have plenty to keep private. ... know what I mean?
Protect yourself ... vote Democratic.
