Comments for Who Built Sarah's Half-Million Dollar House? Another Palin Scandal On The Way? »
Posted By dmwhipp 1 year, 2 months ago in Political NewsThe Palin family home is a two-story, 3,450-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-bath, wood house situated on Lake Lucille. According to Palin's income tax returns, the house was assessed at more than half a million dollars — $552,000 to be exact.
Todd Palin told Fox News that he built the 3,450 square-foot, half million dollar home himself with the help of some "buddies." Since Sarah Palin blocked an effort to require the filing of building permits as mayor of Wasilla, there is no record of who Todd's "buddies" were.
Coincidentally, at the same time that Todd and his "buddies" were building the Palin house, the $12.5 million dollar Wasilla sports complex and hockey rink was under construction right down the road.

todd palin works the slope on the oil fields, while running his own fishing business, while professionally racing snow machines, while taking care of 5 kids while sarah does her governor thing, and then in his spare time...

No No No. We want to hear about the people Obama has bumped into over the years, not about the miracle house. She did Gods work and PRISTO! it was built. We right wingers know how God rewards the truly patriotic, so stop with these awful innuendos.

I find all this very similar, if not IDENTICAL to "much ado about nothing."

But I guess those who are afraid of Sarah, and of what she represents, just may be quite desperate to find ANYTHING that might cast a cloud of doubt of any size in her approximate direction.
And also, just remember that if you search hard and long enough, you will eventually find someone who genuinely believes that ALL ROSES STINK HORRIBLY!!!
And I also bet that most "lower 48" people have absolutely NO IDEA of the cost and local value of things in the greater Anchorage area.
I have several cousins who have lived in that area for a combined total of over 25 years, and based upon their experiences, here's the reality:
A house valued at between $500 and $600 thousand is NOT an extravagant house, in that region. The value of EVERYTHING in Alaska is higher than in the 48 contiguous states. And the average income there is also correspondingly higher.
The Palin family is FAR FROM "living high on the hog!!!" Their house in my neighborhood, even on a lake would be worth far less than it is in suburban Anchorage.
If your family is composed of 6 people, a 4-bedroom house is not extravagant. And with having 26 weeks off of work every year, as Todd Palin does, and if you're skilled at many things, which Todd Palin is, there is plenty of time to build your own house with the help of your buddies/friends, and at a cost considerably below its market value. (I have done the same thing, and I do not have the amount of time off of work that Todd does.)
And I used building supplies from the same lumber retailer that Oprah Winfrey did. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN that I am a modernistic, new-age religionist as she is, nor that she or her chosen contractors were involved in building my house for me!
Watch the videos of Greta Van Susteren interviewing Todd Palin WITH AN OPEN MIND if you want to get a more personal and detailed glimpse into this man's life and character.
If you do so in that manner, I think you'll be impressed! -

I'm sure even Sarah helped out a bit. She has experience helping build houses for Habitat for Humanity:

Guys from BOTH sides (republican AND democrats), please stop trowing mud.

Yes, the "mud trowing", rumors, false our unsubstantiated accusations, etc. are, it has to be said, mostly coming from the "republican" side, but, yes, the "democrats" do it as well.
Why is it that this only happens in the US politics and not in the rest of the democratic western world???
How come that in the rest of the western world politic debates and rallies are (mostly) about politics and ideas, and US (for a very great part)about (bad) slogans and finding mud.....
If that "accusation" is truth, substantiated, and proven, by all means, do tell it. But, first make sure it is truth.
And if truth, it is that more despicable, as the republicans always claim to be "saints", "Christians" and are imposing their subjective views and ideas including on private matters to others.
If you want to talk bad about Palin, there is more than enough in her action and talking as a candidate. Just listen to her (hollow) speeches and interviews. She has NO clue about National nor International politics and economy. I saw her last next to Mc Cain at a rally, and really she does look as if she has not a clue about what he says (but she smiles). -

Maybe if she hadn't repeatedly lied about her support of the Bridge to Nowhere...
Reply
Maybe if she didn't have a history of cronyism and being part of the old boys network she railed against to get elected...
Maybe if she hadn't lied about being cleared of unethical behavior in Trooper-gate
Maybe if she didn't spout off about pork barrel spending while being one of the biggest pigs at the trough...
Maybe then I'd give her the benefit of the doubt...
But at this point, she has no credibility and I won't be surprised if this turns into another full blown scandal
