Nice to read a story that gets back to th basics when it comes to the economy, the idea of trading paper may produce gains at times but without the production and marketing of goods an economy will grind to a halt.

This is just my opinion on things and I feel that the American economy started its slowdown in the 80's, since then there has been much government involvement to sustain the American economy but the world has changed and problem as I see it still does not have to do with anything but a standard of living in a country that is very high when compared to some of the other nations which are now your major competition. There is overproduction in the world on many products so the slowdown will be worldwide and will not likely be refered to as a recession for long but likely a depression.
The governments of the world are treating the symptoms of the problem and not the problem itself so if things do rebound right now I feel it will be short lived. -
