"He's a general who left the battlefield in the middle of the fight," said L. Brooks Patterson, Oakland County executive and a GOP leader, tells the Washington Post's Al Kamen. "I'm disappointed in his behavior; he's thrown a lot of good Republican candidates under the bus."

The decision was financial. Those are decisions that must be made when you are at a 6 to 1 financial disadvantage. Anyone wonder who is really providing Obama with funds?

The USA's enemies are drooling at the thought of Obama. They love the naive inexperience weak amateur. Where there have been young leaders in the past, they had over a decade of (real)experience, yet we paid a price for it. If you think the USA has problems today, you haven't seen anything compared to what an Obama Socialist/Communist will cause.

I hate this, but his running mate has more guts than he going to Michigan to try to sway voters. Even though it's very likely a lost cause. That's one in her favor though, too bad for McCain being that it's just another good reason not to vote for him.

Less one. If the republicans lose this election, McCain should except some of the blame. But the major cause will be Palin. The real power behind Palin is her husband Todd. I can understand a supportive spouse but to sit in on policy meetings and be part of the governmental e-mail loop is questionable.

Do you people realize how hard it is even to throw an elderly grandmother under a moving vehicle? The lifting, the actual thrust, the whole timing issue so you don't just whap them into the side of the bus?
How could McCain throw all these people under a bus?
Did they line up?
Am I supposed to believe he has anywhere near that much upper-arm strength?
This phrase must die.
Let us say, clearly and simply, that McCain abandoned Michigan to the wolves; that he left Michigan in a handbasket on the doorstep to hell; that McCain tossed an anchor to drowning Michigan, that John S. McCain's campaign slammed the hammer down on the fingers of Michigan's last grasp, that when faced with an Obama victory, Michigan's Republican guard called John McCain and he pretended to be the answering machine.
I mean, isn't that a better way of saying it?-

A lot of people who use the phrase are probably relatively unfamiliar with busses.
HOWEVER, I would think that some people might make one exception and that would be for a certain person from Alaska, whose last name begins with a P, who clearly wouldn't know what hit her.. -

I love the Democratic party and Bill Clinton. I voted for Bill Clinton twice. That said, the Republicans in Michigan have the same view of the bus that gays and lesbians got from the Clintons in the 1990s. Yes, I know he had little choice politically. However, voters, gay or straight, are not political capital to be bought and sold. Sorry Repubs in Michigan, you done got hosed!

All the voters in Michigan need to realize that it was the Republicans who threw them with the rest of the country under the large moving vehicle in the last 8 years. They should now throw the party out and get someone who cares about them.

So much for the "Straight Talk Express", it reminds me of the kid who would take his toys and go home if you didn't play the way they wanted.
If he can't stand in Michigan and try, then what will he do for the country, especially now that America has essentially bankrupted the world and owes trillions of dollars to every body. -

Michigan, you have a beautiful state, wish I was still there, but that's another story.........I didn't follow his campaign there as closely as my home state, but what coverage I saw he was booed and heckled. I don't agree with his pulling out either. I think after what Detroit has been through with Kwame Kilpatrick you good people deserve a break!

I am not Republican, but I respect McCain he di fight for our country and all men who has serverd our country should have respect, I feel sorry for him. I read the terrible things that they say about McCain a nd Obama they both have feelings they read our comments, I as a Dem think he should consider and go on and campain wether or not he thinks he is enable to win that state, this doesnt mean I'm backing McCain but this is how its done when your running for president. and I also dont have to vote for him just because I respect him and also like him as well.

They knew it and threw out the least likely candidate to be hurt by it.
They are looking for 2012, when a Democrat has had to deal with all the freaking crap the former Bushies left behind.
Losers and liars the GOP has had the pick of the litter for the last 40 years. Damn spin cycle wore out on the washing machine and they couldn't come out clean on the last eight years.
Time to hang them out to dry for the next 20 years, and get this country staightened out. And I don't mean by a bunch of left wing nuts. We need to be more moderate and start to look at the way we do things and how they affect lives. -

Personally, I think "thrown under the bus" is getting to be an overused term. McCain's doing what he has to do to run his campaign given the realities he's facing. If the Michigan Republicans really want him to win, they should understand why he has to pull his campaign offices from the state and pick up the slack for him.

After the Crat governor raised taxes, causing a mass exodus..well, an exodus of those able to sell their homes...it's a wonder there are any Republicans left in Michigan.

And now that the automakers have fully realized the outcome of all those suicide pacts they signed with the unions, there's even less reason to be concerned with Michigan.
Finally, this may be the first year in the history of college football that two Ohio teams beat Big Blue in the same season.
If all that's not enough reason to pack up and move, what is? Come next census, Michigan will be down a few million convicts and unionists. Redundancy intended. -
