Block the Vote »
Posted By tehranchik 1 year, 2 months ago in Political NewsSuppressing the vote has long been a cornerstone of the GOP's electoral strategy. Shortly before the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980, Paul Weyrich — a principal architect of today's Republican Party — scolded evangelicals who believed in democracy. "Many of our Christians have what I call the 'goo goo' syndrome — good government," said Weyrich, who co-founded Moral Majority with Jerry Falwell. "They want everybody to vote. They're screaming about ACORN so they CAN steal another election. If they can convince that 'fraud' is going on, then they can send out their letters to hundreds of thousands of registered democratic voters to ask if it's 'really them' at their address, The 'letters' look like junk mail, and are a bunch of gobbeldy gook if they are opened, leading the recipient to believe it's junk, the recipient throws them away. Problem is, if the recipient doesn't send back a part of it that they sign saying they are indeed who they say they are, they're removed from the voting rolls. When they show up to vote, they can't be found. So they're given a 'provisional ballot' that is put aside to be checked later. It is checked, and shown they aren't registered. Their vote goes in the trash.

Here's more information on caging, and the #'s of voters who are targeted. This isn't individual voter fraud. It's election fraud, or attempts at election fraud.
