Colin Powell provides some credibility to the claim that Senator Obama has the gravitas to uplift the image of the United States and has the foreign policy experience necessary to serve as President. He lends credibility to the fact that Barack Obama is the better of the two candidates for the reasons he outlined.

Colin Powell represents the RATIONAL wing of the Republican Party.
I'll never understand why Republicans ever wanted to follow Newt Gingrich and his Republican Revolution.
Look at Newt ... Look at who he is ... an adulterer ... a bitter whiner ... and that is what the Republicans have become.
Bitter Whiners.
''Oh boo hoo ... the media is against Republicans <i>(even though it's not)</i> ... Liberals are against God <i>(even thought they are not)</i< ... Liberals are not Patriotic <i>(even though that is not true)</i>."
Embracing these lies has damaged the credibility of the Republican Party ... and has invited some of the most bizarre and partisan minded supporters I could imagine.
Just look at Propeller members such as redtomato <i>(aka AlphaGnosis)</i> ... this member is relentless in promoting disinformation and downright demonization of candidates.
If more men and women of the Republican party were like Colin Powell ... I would return to the party and vote Republican.
But that's not the case ... so I won't.-

I agree with both of you. More and more true republicans are jumping ship. When the likes of the Chicago Tribune endorse OBama you know the repubs have little to offer. The consistencies in the endorsements as far as why they can't back McCain are obvious. All criticize the ugliness of the McCain campaign, the disastrous choice of Palin, and John's total reversal of everything he's always stood for.

I firmly believe that the only reason the poll numbers are close is almost totally because of the race factor. None the less I am planning on an OBama victory in two weeks. I started the landslide by voting last Wednesday.

Here is a man who was used by the pseudo-cons to promote untruths. Don't you think he might just be trying to reverse that situation in order to ease his conscience?

In the article McPain says that over 200 Generals and Admirals (Ret.) are supporting him. If this were true (which may be debatable), then this would seem to indicate that McPain's 200 trump Obama's 1. Or is Gen. Powell the wild card, meaning that people look at him and see the most trusted man to come out of the Iraqi-Kuwaiti conflict, thus raising the bar for Obama? Or do they look at him and remember him sitting at the table telling the world about WMDs and trying to scare the bloody 'ell out of 'em, as the Brits might put it, just to get them to send American women and men into a blood bath.
I believe that at best this is just marginal in value for Obama at this point. I believe also that the only way any of this is going to work out for the Dems is for them to garner twice as many votes as they need, just to make up the deficits caused by pseudo-con gerrymandering and registration fraud in the key states.
OK, I'll get back on topic. To round out this comment, it was nice of him to do it, but that is not what will win this election for BO. What will win it is that all good people go out and not only vote, but watch closely to see that the people who are registered really get to vote. -
