As veteran who has served under General Colin Powell I do know him to be a most honorable man who has always put the USA ahead of his personal feelings. As a Commander he was strict but fair, no nonsense in decisions, highly respected, truly a soldier's soldier, yet never in doubt as a leader.I was thoroughly disappointed that he did not pursue the presidency. I feel strongly that had he run America would be far better off than it is at present.Though I do not share his endorsement of Barrack Obama I do respect his decision. Should Barrack Obama win the election and if General Powell agrees to serve in the administration. It would serve to allay the deep reservations about Barrack Obama's inexperience and Socialist leaning which do prevent me from supporting him in this election. I feel very sorry that anyone could possibly think that the element of race would ever enter into General Powell's decisions. His duty to this nation has always the foremost consideration.

Is Pat Buchanan supporting McCain because he is Irish?

Here's the line of reasoning:
If a black man supports a black man, it's ONLY because they are the same race.
If a white man supports a black man, it's ONLY because of some sort of 'racial guilt' or not wanting to be perceived as racist.
If a white man supports a white man, or a black man supports a white man, he's made a reasoned choice and is doing what is 'good for America'.
Therefore, only white candidates are supportable as reasoned choices. To take auto's own language: a black candidate can never be 'good for America'.
And THAT, my friend, IS racism.

To call a man of this standard a racist is just pointing out how simple you are. You cannot take away the fact that this man served his country as well as any other before him. Fighting in over 4 wars, and being wounded several time in the name of his country.

To say that a man like this is all about race, and not country is moronic and shows your true agenda. Your agenda is about race not his...to think that you are always correct is the behavior of a crazy person. The right of this nation even looking down the barrel of another depression thinks that the way they have been going is the correct way, how freaking crazy is that?
Powell represent something that is not too common on the right (thought), he doesn't feel that his side has the answer, and as a good AMERICAN, he did the prudent thing, he went for the correct thing, what is best for his country over his party and ideology, to berate and belittle this mans decision as being simple as race, is to show your willingness to eat your young. It's a stupid notion put forth by stupid people!
As for the socialism argument, the right just nationalized the banking industry and push through a 700 billion social package on the American people, this of course doesn't bother the right because it's for big business, but god forbade you should do something for the American people the small man which most of these guys are anyway, they scream bloody murder you are hurting me.
No what is hurting us is this trickle down economics, I want back the days when companies offered $50,000 just to join their organization, I want that economy back, the one your rich friends moved out of this country as soon as the republicans took office.
Joe the plumbers of this nation are soo thick that they refuse to see that the reason why they are struggling it because of the Republican agenda, tell me why you are all against bush now? Because he did a terrible job with our nation, Now tell me why you are willing to do the same thing again and expecting a different result? Because you are freaking in need of mental help.-

Lets' take a look at the word Liberalism:
1. the quality or state of being liberal, as in behavior or attitude.
2. a political or social philosophy advocating the freedom of the individual, parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent modification of political, social, or economic institutions to assure unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties.
3. (sometimes initial capital letter) the principles and practices of a liberal party in politics.
4. a movement in modern Protestantism that emphasizes freedom from tradition and authority, the adjustment of religious beliefs to scientific conceptions, and the development of spiritual capacities.
If you are calling me these things then i am all for that, these kinds of things/names i am fine with being called! -

Looks to me he put the color of his skin ahead of his loyalty to his fellow soldier.
If you are a McCain supporter, you need to play the racist card or the Islamic threat to win any election and stoking fear will also helps politicians up to certain extent.-

Mr. Obama has said that he will invite General Powell to serve at a high level in his administration, and will turn to him for advice on military matters and matters of foreign policy. I'd guess either Secretary of State or Defense. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5isOFwdbq0tsqatW...

Colin Powell is a war_criminal kiss_ass who got his "boost up the ladder" by trying to cover up My Lai. It is shameful that Powell's career ever continued (America would have been better off with it terminated) and that Americans can still be duped into listening to Powell.

The Bagman Cometh: Obama Embraces War Criminal'sEndorsement
Democratic Party circles are in raptures over Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama. One can see the heavily-blinkered logic behind their elation; now that our national politics has been reduced to a petty squabble over spoils among shifting factions in the imperial court, a nod from a consummate courtier like Powell is indeed a glittering prize for an ambitious prince.
But out in the real world, where the operations of imperial power have left smoking trails of murder and ruin across the globe, the "endorsement" of a man who played an indispensable role in the slaughter of more than a million innocent people in a war of Hitlerian aggression should be regarded as a thing of shame, and vociferously rejected by anyone with a scintilla of honor or morality.
It is not too much of a stretch to say that Colin Powell is more responsible for the mass murder spree in Iraq than any other person except George W. Bush, who gave the actual order for the hit. For it was Powell who "made the sale" for the Bush Faction's deceitful warmongering campaign, with his infamous February 2003 presentation to the UN, laying out the false evidence about Iraq's non-existent weapons of mass destruction. After that farrago of artfully delivered lies, the American Establishment – urged on by the fawning, bloodthirsty commentariat – lined up solidly behind the war. After all, if Colin Powell – so "reasonable," so "honorable," so "honest" and "bipartisan" – stood foursquare behind the Bush case for war, then it must be ironclad.
This was, again, the logic of courtiers, with little connection to reality. Powell's reputation as a wise, moderate, impartial statesman – the very thing that made him the most effective shill for the war crime in Iraq – was itself almost entirely a fiction. By the time he made his shameless UN appearance, Powell had already spent almost four decades as a bagman – and frontman – for some of the most vicious and ugly elements in American politics and government. From the My Lai massacre to Iran-Contra, from Washington's long and murderous collusion with Saddam to its long and murderous campaigns to remove him, Powell has been instrumental in perpetrating or covering up atrocities and abominations on a gigantic scale....

This causes me to lose all respect that I had for Powell, and I did have some. If you say he is not racist, you are wrong. There is no way a conservative could jump to supporting a radical leftist or worse without it being based on race.
