FTA: "The Republican National Committee spent about $150,000 on clothing, hair styling, makeup and other "campaign accessories" in September for the McCain campaign after Palin joined the ticket as his running mate.
Reply
The expenses include $75,062 spent at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, and $41,850 in St. Louis in early September. The committee also reported spending $4,100 for makeup and hair consulting. The expenses were first reported by Politico.com."
Hmm, wonder if they are going to give them to "Goodwill-

The answer to your last sentence is yes, Goodwill and other charities and in fact they already started doing just that.

This is a non-issue at best, the reason being is that the taxpayers are not footing the bill but rather the RNC is footing the bill taken from donations, not taxes. I made a donation and what they do or did with the money is fine by me.-

And these are the same people who use ugly sexist epithets to describe Palin rather than focusing on the issues. The same people who took up for Obama when he was a newbie who didn't sound "handled."
Reply
I disagree with Palin on issues, but I strongly oppose bringing her gender into it, and I've seen a lot of self-proclaimed progressives and liberals attack her venomously on gender. They'll be along shortly to neg me.-

This is TOTALLY an "ISSUE".
Reply
IT points to the lack of reasonable thinking skills by Republicans.
Are you kidding, they want to be the "reformers" and claim to "cut" government?
This doesn't say "responsible spending" to me at all.
I know it wasn't tax money, It would be different if it was HER money.
More evidence of the hipocritcal nature of McCain's campaign.
JUST like the baseball comments.....Sarah can do it 3 times at least that we KNOW about, but if Obama says ANYTHING similar then that is bad, he is bad....
The Country has seen through the two EMPTY SUITES on the Republican side...believe me.-

It's not an "issue" unless the RNC spent YOUR money and MY money, but they didn't. If she had appeared in bib-jeans you democraps would have been all over her trashing her looks. Get a grip. The decision, btw, to donate the wardrobe to charity was made long before the drive-by-media latched on to this story. Shame on all of youse guys.

This is no issue at all. Most clothiers gladly donate their clothes to candidates, the idea being that it will be THEIR designs on display if the candidate gets elected. Which brings up Hillary Clinton. She doesn't buy her pant suits like Palin has to; as a matter of fact, Hillary's suits are worth $6350 a piece retail! Should Hillary's suits have been an issue during the primaries? By your logic, the answer is a resounding YES!

Last time I looked the Obamas paid for their own clothes with THEIR OWN MONEY.
perhaps it's YOUR district that needs better teachers so you can get better critical thinking skills....for that matter...any at all.

I was preparing to give a small donation to Edwards' campaign when the story broke about his charging his campaign for his $400 haircut. Since my small donation would have covered only a fraction of a haircut, I didn't send anything. I'm not sure if the GOP even has small donors, but I would sure as heck be perturbed if I found that the few bucks I could scrape together went to buy designer dresses for the candidate.

If it took that bit of news for you to realize what a sham Edwards was, I question your ability to make wise decisions

REALITY CHECK
Reply
Obama - wealthy - has high quality cloths
Biden - wealthy - has high quality clothes
McCain - Wealthy - has high quality cloths
Palin - not wealthy - has regular cloths
What did the libs complain about as far as cloths.
Early on the libs criticized her clothing saying several put downs about what she wore.
When the new cloths were bought that stopped.
Now libs have to go ballistic because the RNC did the nice thing and bought cloths that matched the quantity and quality of the other candidates.
Such compassion.
Why do you have a problem with this. It is the Republican party giving her the ability to look as good as Obama and Biden. I guess you think she should wear the cloths you enjoyed criticizing. That is probably the problem.-

Soooo Lipstick wearing pitbull candidate Palin spends about three times what Joe the Plumber earns in a year on her wardrobe?
Reply
Shes in touch, or will she merely be charging incidentals to the public once again should she take office?
And THIS is your candidate who knows how to spend?
Better luck in '12!-

"She" didn't spend anything, didn't charge anything to the public, etc. ad nauseum. Yes, this is MY candidate that put on the best appearance than any OTHER candidate. And when she's the VP, she'll do the same for the heads of state, leaders, etc. around the planet. Much better than showing up in bib-jeans.

Nothing Palin does will change these people's views. We have the misogynists, who hate her just because she's female, we have some extreme members of the far left, who hate her because of her socially conservative and economically liberal beliefs and positions, we have the juvenile, who think she's attractive enough to Photoshop her head onto nude bodies and call her typical female derogatory terms, and we have ordinary democrats who simply disagree with her platform and won't vote for her.
Reply
The clothes are going to be sold for charity after the election. It's done all the time. But for those who already hate her, for whatever reason, it's another excuse to attack her.
