From Sunday's Televised 'Meet the Press' Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag.
Obama Explains National Anthem Stance
Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, 'Stand and Face It'
Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, 'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.' We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine'. Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America .
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President.
I, for one, am speechless.

This is supposed to be an election for president not PR rock star. You are hiring the CEO of Firm USA. Who do you want to run the firm, a manager with over 25 years experience or the newly hired stockboy?
Reply
If you complain about Palin's experience to be VP candidate where does that leave Obama? She has more real experience than he has. Or is Obama really running as Biden's VP?
I have been asking these same questions for the run of this election. Have the answers changed? No.

I wish people would step back for a minute and forget their political hat. While experience is nice to have, I'm sure you can quote numerous people who have taken on jobs with little or no experience and not only performed well but better than expected. I am talking not only of Palin but Obama as well. An individual who can make appropriate and timely decisions is every bit as important as experience. Experience is no guarantee of that.

James Buchanan was called Mr. Government because of his enormous depth of governmental and executive experience. Yet Buchanan is on most short lists of the worst presidents in US history.
Reply
Buchanan was followed by our least experienced President, in fact less experienced than Senator Obama. He was a man with no executive experience at all. Like Obama, he came from Illinois. That would President Abraham Lincoln, a man on just about every short list of the best presidents in US history.
For a more modern example, look at George Bush and Dick Cheney. Bush had 4 years of experience as governor of a state with 23,904,380 people. Compare that to Sarah Palin's 2 years as governor of Alaska, a state with 1/35th of the population of Texas. Bush had also run his own company -- but he ran it into bankruptcy before being bailed out by Daddy and then some rich Saudi oil barons Daddy knew. He was also part owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team for a time. Cheney has a government and executive resume that is unrivaled in government today. And look at how those two have botched every single thing they touched.
Obviously when it comes to the job of President of the USA; wisdom, judgment, honesty and temperament matter much more than experience.
Obama has had executive experience as the President of the Harvard Law Review. He has also built up and run perhaps the most impressive political campaign in history over the past 2 years. Hilary Clinton was expected to just waltz to a coronation in the Democratic primaries, Yet despite Hil an Bill's depth of control of Democratic party machinery and a plethora of leading Democratic endorsements, Obama beat her. He now has built, financed and is running the largest ground operation is US political history, and his poll numbers suggest that he is doing it VERY well. Unless McCain can pull a rabbit out of the hat in these last few days, Obama is going to obliterate the famous RepugniCon lie, smear and fear machine just as certainly as he left Hilary in the dust.
Sarah Palin couldn't name a single Supreme Court decision she disagreed with outside of Roe v. Wade (which the reporter gave her) even though her own state had been disappointed in a Supreme Court pipeline decision under her watch. She couldn't name a single thing that she reads. She doesn't know what the constitutional limits of the Vice President are. She thinks the VP will run the Senate. She doesn't even know what the word "preconditions" means. To argue that this woman is qualified to be President of the United States on a moment's notice is ludicrous.
And despite McCain's many years of senatorial experience, his pick of Palin calls his judgment into VERY serious question.

California has been billions in debt for decades, long long before Schwarzenegger showed up and will be billions in debt long, long after he's gone. The state is practically run by voter initiatives. Every election there are a half dozen or more "propositions" on the ballot that if passed, REQUIRE the state to spend millions, if not billions, on these voter approved programs. What's ironic is that the same people who vote in these propositions are the same ones who scream about the debt the state is in. But it's nice of you to put all the blame on old Arnie.

Why do you continue to post a completely fabricated story? Obama wasn't even on the program on Sept 7, 2008.

I am glad that Arnold chose to discredit Liptstick as the most unqualified choice for a VP in the history of this country AND not to be phantom voice behind those disgraceful robo calls that John McCain, Rudy "9/11 tattooed on his forehead" Guiliani and as of yesterday the disgraceful Tom Ridge.

Day-to-day experience is one kind of qualification. There are a host of others, including breadth of understanding; ability to manage complex issues, to synthesize facts to reach worthy solutions; ability to interact with and/or manage others, often in stressful situations; etc.
Palin has given no indication, or been allowed to give indication, that she qualifies in re these or other important respects.
She pretty; she wears beautiful clothes; she excels at demagoguery--that's all we know. Or have been allowed to see.
The worst part: she's been set up by McCain's woebegone campaign to create the very situation--cultural polarity--LEAST NEEDED by him or anyone else at this extraordinarily beset time in our country's history, when attention to REAL problems should be ALL. -

McCain and Palin combined don't match Obama's intelligence. Heck, Bush wasn't even close to being qualified to be President of the U.S. OMG! Bush was denied admission to a southern podunk law school. Maybe, Bush should have published his laughable LSAT scores. Cognitive ability = intelligence.

From Obama’s books:
Reply
From Dreams of My Father:'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'
From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'
From Dreams of My Father:'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'
From Dreams of My Father:'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'
And FINALLY the Most Damning one of ALL of them!!!
From Audacity of Hope:'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'·
These excepts are from the hand of Obama. We CANNOT have someone with this type of mentality running our GREAT nation!! I don't care whether you a Liberal, Republican, Democrat or a Conservative. We CANNOT turn ourselves over to this type of character in a President. PLEASE help spread the word·

I have an idea. Why don't you just not vote for McCain and spare the rest of us your utterly spurious call-to-arms?
