Segway Inventor Turns Mind to the Poor »
Posted By Fedquip 1 year, 1 month ago in Science & TechnologyDean Kamen , the inventor of the Segway personal gliding transporter and other gadgets for the world' s well-to-do, has joined a growing array of innovators and entrepreneurs focusing their skills on the persistent plight of the world' s poorest billion people or so (hat tip to GreenTech). As Paul Polak , Amy Smith and others have been stressing, the best route forward is not charity, but availability of suitably scaled sources of nonpolluting energy for lighting, cooking, and communication and other technologies that can become a source of jobs and income.
