This is the latest in a series of violent assaults against McCain supporters. Obama earlier had instructed his followers to Get In Their Faces.

More from the article:
he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said.-

It now is on Pittsburgh Live:
Reply
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/new...
A knife-wielding man robbed a McCain-Palin campaign volunteer and etched a “B” into her face after he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the woman’s car, Pittsburgh police said.
Ashley Todd, 20, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street in Bloomfield just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her, put a knife to her throat and demanded $60, police said.
Todd handed the man $60 she had in her pocket and stepped away from him, investigators said. The man then noticed the bumper sticker on the woman's car, which was parked in front of the ATM. The man became very angry, made comments to Todd about John McCain and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground, police said.
"He continued to kick and punch her repeatedly and said he would teach her a lesson for supporting John McCain," said police Chief Nate Harper.
The man then carved the "B" into Todd's right cheek. Todd, who isn't familiar with the area, drove to a friend's house nearby and told her friend she wasn't sure of the exact location where the robbery took place but remembered a green sign above the ATM. The friend called police and the officer met them on Cypress Street in Bloomfield, police said.
Todd's friend offered to drive her back in the direction she came from to look at ATMs until she found the right one, police said. A police officer followed until Todd pointed out a Citizens Bank ATM at Liberty and Pearl, police said.
She declined medical treatment at the scene and said she would go to a hospital today.
Todd declined to comment.
"She is a volunteer for the McCain-Palin campaign," said campaign spokesman Peter Feldman. "Sen. McCain has reached out to her via telephone and has spoken to her and her family,” as has McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Feldman said. “Out of respect for her privacy we're not going to comment further."-

This is another one of your right wingers' extremely desperate and stupid "SHOCKING" or "BREAKING" or "RED HOT" stories which has NOTHING whatsoever to do with how rational, intelligent people should make their decisions as to which candidate to vote for.

You moronic cons are claiming that Obama is inciting violence but you're the ones who want to keep going on and on claiming he is a terrorist and a "socialist" or not an American citizen etc. based on long ago debunked HORSECRAP and, frankly, I'm sick to death of this and I'm thoroughly repulsed by your behavior.
Now, unlike you, I don't allow my participation here to be guided by whether people are "negging" me or not. I don't care. I care that my country has been poisoned, soiled, moved backwards and virtually destroyed by greedy, uneducated, malicious, and unbelievably self-important criminal cons who don't appreciate their voting rights and who misguidedly think they have a monopoly on patriotism. Actually FSU, I added a whole series of stories about violence from McCain supporters, including physical attacks on people, shortly after Karly submitted this story.
Reply
Karly was so incensed by this information that she did all she could to insert posts that would push the information down the page (page through, you will see them).
In a few cases I used secondary sources that had gathered information from several primary sources, often parallel newspaper and TV reports, in one place and provided several links on one page. Rather than follow the links to the primary sources, Karly tried denigrate the coupled information in the secondary pages.
I don't know about you, but to me this says Karly is not interested in all the information, but rather seems to be trying to stir up hatred and violence.

Dionys - This is to be expected every last black stereotypes is going to be in play now. If you cant beat Obama on the issues why not revert to the old standard, remind White America of how scary they have made the black man out to be. I have had friends that are shocked that blacks are not out gloating.
Reply
One of the things that this Obama campaign has done is to show that blacks are not as they are depicted on the news. I went to the million man march and i learn something there about the news...a lot of the men there were well dressed and well educated but they (the media) only looked for the black men that were in their big gold chains or without teeth to interview.
That event has been misrepresented so much in the media it was intended to hold black men responsible and it did for the most pare but i hear people speaking of the million man march as if it was an attack on white America as if it's intent was to intimidate when that was sooo far away from what it was meant to be.
I say all this to make this point, a lot of what white America think of black people are distortions from the media. It's not true i know most of you know this but people like this young lady still doesn't get it!

Karlyc: "Here is another article on another attack by Obama partisans on McCain supporters"
Reply
Do you know the difference between fact and assumption (or truth and lie for that matter)? There is not a shred of evidence in either of these cases that the attacker was an Obama supporter.
Do you know the difference between scratching and carving? In your titles, you should stick to the story as reported.
Do you know the difference between the letter B and its mirror image? I guess it's safe to assume that when the attacker scratched the letter B into the victim's face, he was facing the victim, so it would be logical that, unless he was left-handed, he would scratch the letter into her left cheek and that we, who are facing the victim, would see the letter B and not its mirror image. If, on the other hand, the scratch was made by the victim herself, then both the right cheek and the mirror image make perfect sense. I'm not saying that she did it, because I don't know. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't jump to conclusions before all the facts are in.-

''There is not a shred of evidence in either of these cases that the attacker was an Obama supporter.''
Reply
the really sad part Candida, is it doesn't even matter if it IS true
an Obama supporter commttied a crime, a McCain supporter committed a crime
there's a freakin news story-it wouldn't surprise me if ALL criminals had a political opinion and liked one of the candidates more than the other
I always know when something is really stupid-you know how? When even a word machine like me is incapable of pointing out WHY something is stupid-that's how I know something is absurd
explaining why this is dumb is like explaining to someone why going out in th rain heightens ones chances of getting wet
an Obama or McCain supporter did something bad...does it reflect on the candidates? no. Does it reflect on other Obama and McCain supporters? no.
why not?
again, how to even explain something so obvious...people are individuals-we know this is scientific fact because we have different bodies and can occupy two different places at once. One guy who believes something can be good, one guy who believes the same thing can be bad. 'Not all who say Lord Lord...' etc etc. A bad Christian does not reflect on Christ, and also does not reflect on other Christians.
I go on to read a little more to see if the 'Obama attacker' is left as fill in the blanks fodder or anyone actually says 'see, Obama bad, supporters bad'. I'm betting on generalized negativity and open-ended 'reporting on the news, not what the news means' and allowing insinuation and inference to do the legwork.
But who knows, I may be surprised -

You need to understand with the right its much more dramatic to jump to conclusions then to wait for the facs. Its seems to be a trait that frames that group. Look at Bush and his rush to war, instead of allowing the inspectors to finish i.e. letting the facts come out, he moved to STOP THAT and rushed into a war of lies. The worst thing that can happen to the right wing IS the facts coming out that totally removes the poor me Im a victim play they seem to love to use now.

This is a primal fear being manifested. It has nothing to do with Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, Conservatives, whatever, what-have-you.
This has everything to do with a classist and racist brainwashing that has been perpetrated in this country for hundreds of years. There is no way reasonable way to deal with this fear other than to do it case-by-case, however it manifests.
Sadly, this fear will intensify through Election Day, and if Obama wins, may become even worse.
This isn't to say that the man should not be elected. Clearly, he is (to me) the choice that America truly needs. But I'm straying from my point.
The one thing the Civil Rights era failed to see through is on Dr. King's vision where a wo/man be judged by the content of his (her) character. What needs to happen for this to come about is an honest-to-goodness discussion about racial relations in America-- our issues, our problems, our prejudices and our hurdles. Hell, make it a reality show. Until we can have a dialogue, the fear brought on by a person's race will only perpetuate.

I saw yesterday on the way to the doctor's office, a man leaving a McCain rally on US 1 near Daytona Beach with a shirt on that had the words "N with a double g on it. PLEASE (and something else) and White House". Is McCain responsible for that man wearing that shirt? Does that make McCain racist? His and Palin's words that incite the crowd to yell "Kill him" and "Terrorist" are worse than Obama telling his supporters to get in their face which really means talk to the face to face and argue with them if necessary. It's what politics is all about.

McCain supporter robbed, assaulted

Todd's friend offered to drive her back in the direction she came from to look at ATMs until she found the right one, police said. A police officer followed until Todd pointed out a Citizens Bank ATM at Liberty and Pearl, police said.
She declined medical treatment at the scene and said she would go to a hospital today.

Police: 'Inconsistencies' In Story Of Politically Motivated Attack
Reply
That's the latest headline to this link. Why don't you all wait until the entire story comes out? Why can't you wait.
Karlyc - you are part of the problem not part of the solution. I truly feel for this girl is she was attacked but to link this to anything said by Obama is beyond vile. Of course Obama will condemn any such actions by his followers. Any attack on an innocent human being is despicable. He has many times called for civility, never for violence. Why would someone leading in the polls even consider such a thought?
But when McCain tried to calm his followers he was booed down. Because he needs the votes he will not ask again. The cries of "kil him" still come from the crowds and are ignored from the stump.
You people truly have no lines that you won't cross. You don't require the truth any longer and it could be weeks or months before you get that in this case.
I sat in the hospital while my girlfriend was going through tests last night and posted on my laptop. Continually stomping out the fires created by phony accusations from the Right. It has to be done. That's what Obama meant, not violence. These insinuations, and guilt by associations are destroying America. The Left isn't perfect, we have got plenty of screwballs on our side but nothing compared to the virulent hate on the Right.
I can see Karlyc seething now, slobbering with hatred. Just like when Big Brother did his two minute hates . Only now they have been extended to twenty four hours by the likes of talk radio. Something Orwell never foresaw. And they all point just as in that book to one man, only his time it isn't Goldstein. They have simply inserted the name OBAMA. You see it at your rallies, you hear it on the radio, you get it in the first person from the likes of Red Tomato, Endo, FSU Grad, the list goes on and on. Those on the Left who reply in the same manner are just as misguided but far, far fewer in number.
You are all destroying America. The very thing you claim to love so much. We have asked you to stop many times but you are persistent. You see the polls and freak out. Wait until Nov 5th. I cannot imagine what will happen. We have already heard the threats but what will the reality be? .The end of civility of any sort, the end of America. It is a real possibility-

You libs are so funny....you use such big words for your limited vocabulary....Words like "desperate" and "panic" to describe us.Yet there's a couple of AP polls showing McCain and Osama are pretty much dead-even...One poll in paticular that accurately predicted the 2004 election shows about a 1-2 point difference between the two....
I think the next time you use big words like "desperate" and "panic", you might want to check the mirror....

"Police say a campaign volunteer confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter B in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.
"At a news conference this afternoon, offiicals said they believe that Ashley Todd's injuries were self-inflicted.
"Todd, 20, of Texas, is now facing charges for filing a false report to police.
"Todd initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.
"Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.
"Authorities, however, declined to release the results of that test.
"Investigators did say that they received photos from the ATM machine and 'the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction.'
"This afternoon, a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story."-

Texas Thugs Trash Obama Supporter Car on eve of Early Voting
Reply
This incident was covered on KXAN TV News Tuesday night.
There was a good article in the Austin American Statesman.
In western Hays County, Texas, at around 8PM Sunday night 19 October, thugs trashed my car while I was having dinner with some friends.
Out in the country. Miles from anywhere.
My "Obama 08" bumper sticker was torn off the right rear bumper, a 20-lb rock was dropped through the back window, 2 stolen Obama yard signs were shoved through the gaping hole in the window, and a cryptic almost "OBAHA" (or something...) was scrawled in orange spray-paint on the drivers side front and back doors and windows.

Even though I do not agree with any violence (everyone has the right to voice their opinion), there is a big difference between damaging someones property (car) and attacking and injuring a person. I have seen two separate statements from you trying to justify the attacks on people because of attacks on property. If you really feel that way maybe you should rethink your priorities.-

Desperate Republicans are sinking to new lows
Reply
Facing the prospect of a catastrophic defeat in two weeks and, with it, possible relegation to minority party status in all branches of the national government, Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, his running mate, the Republican National Committee and their affiliated partisans are flailing around in a disoriented fit of pique.
In recent weeks, attendees at McCain rallies have shouted, "Kill him!" in reference to Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama; dressed up a monkey doll with an Obama sticker; held up a sign calling for waterboarding Mr. Obama; told a black television cameraman, "Sit down, boy"; and kicked another reporter in the leg.
It's easy to dismiss these episodes as the isolated outrages of a lunatic few. That excuse cannot be used, however, to explain the disgusting robo-calls and television ads sponsored by the RNC, or incendiary statements made by Mr. McCain, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and McCain advisers....

Death Threats, Hack Attempts 'Barrage' OH Sec. of State's Office

Threatening Packages, Messages Received Following Brunner's Legal Tussles With State Republicans
Website Set to 'Static Mode' Due to 'Security Breaches'; Investigation Launched by State Police...
The website of the Ohio Secretary of State is being set to "static mode" following a recent series of "security breach" attempts, as well as suspicious packages and a number of death threats sent to the office, according to a press release issued late this afternoon. (Posted in full at end of this article.)
The threats against Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner's office come in the wake of a rash of recent burglaries and vandalism at ACORN offices in Massachusetts and Seattle, as well as death threats delivered to a number of their workers following much-hyped media reports of "voter fraud" by the community organization. The attacks against the group escalated following the Republican Presidential nominee John McCain's comments about ACORN "voter fraud" at a recent rally, and his extraordinary allegation that ACORN was "on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy" at last week's Presidential debate.
Notably, there has been no actual evidence of any such "voter fraud" by ACORN, simply allegations by many on the right.
The recent threats against Brunner and her office follow on criticism from state Republicans...

I saw a picture of her on our local news.......you might say the "B" was a mirror image or you could say someone did it by holding her from behind and looking down from the top of her head. Her face was also bruised, didn't LOOK self-inflicted to me, I sure wouldn't want to do that to myself.

Anyway, vandalizing campaign signs is as old as politics. I am for McCain, my son-in-law is for Obama, my daughter is too, but waivering. I don't know who you are Karlyc but this has to be the stupidest, most desperate attempt at inciting the anti_Obama mob as I've seen yet on this site. I can only assume that the article made it this far because there's a pack of like minded idiots that think it's worthy of propping. There are 3 million people in the US and a whole lot of crackpots that are capable of "scratching" a B into someone's face. How anyone could automatically infer that it was an Obama follower is unbelievable. Maybe he was thinking, "Bozo" when he saw that McCain bumper sticker and he is really a Ron Paul supporter. That you even bothered to post this meaningless little article says more about you than your vacuous mind could possibly imagine.

the only explanation can be the paid shill one. why? no one who can write actual coherent sentences can fail to see the ridiculousness of any anti-Obama conclusions based on the actions of one guy. The very inference is prejudicial, as in judging others by the actions of one or a few. May as well be saying 'Jews love money' or 'white people are uptight' to say this incident has any reflection on anything but the individual in question who chose to commit a crime.

Even more worrying are the oligarchs who finance and support these sects to try to augment their own financial and political power. The world has seen this kind of hate campaign before - lets hope americans firmly reject it.

Historical Comparisons: Fritz Stern Publishes "Five Germanys I Have Known"
"Can It Happen Here?" is the headline of the NY Times review of the Fritz Stern's memoir:
In November 2005, Fritz Stern received an award for his life's work on Germans, Jews and the roots of National Socialism, presented to him by Joschka Fischer, then the German foreign minister. With a frankness that startled some in the audience, Stern, an emeritus professor of European history at Columbia University, peppered his acceptance speech with the similarities he saw between the path taken by Germany in the years leading up to Hitler and the path being taken by the United States today. He talked about a group of 1920's intellectuals known as the "conservative revolutionaries," who "denounced liberalism as the greatest, most invidious threat, and attacked it for its tolerance, rationality and cosmopolitan culture," and about how Hitler had used religion to appeal to the German public. In Hitler's first radio address after becoming chancellor, Stern noted, he declared that the Nazis regarded "Christianity as the foundation of our national morality and the family as the basis of national life."...

There is no doubt Obama said to get into the face of a non-supporter. Marxist/anarchist Ayers who supports Obama supports just such acts of violence and clearly so do many other liberal loons. So, it doesn't surprise me that people are scared of even putting on a bumper sticker for McCain or tell someone they are voting for McCain/Palin. This is how bad this election has gotten, but we could see it coming over the years. Now with race in the play you really have to be careful who you speak to. ACORN is radical and supports Obama and visa versa it is no wonder people are scared. If Obama looses this election you can rest assured there will be riots. Our country is definitely in big trouble.

To be fair, Karlyc couldn't have known the outcome of this story. She may be guilty of being quick to judge that some individuals would never make up such a thing, but I think that basically shows what our political system has become.

The media, and that is all media, has the largest stake in the election process. It fuels their economic engines, with contributions from all sides. Well, maybe not all sides. You don't really hear this stuff from Paul supporters, do you? It is in the media's interest to almost encourage the emotional element of the election.
It is a shame that this is the level we have fallen to.
