The 9/11 plot depended upon George Bush ignoring the numerous warnings he was given by the intelligence community and depended upon his close ties to the Bin Laden family, which provided Bush with three of the many companies he drove into the ground before driving the US into the toilet.

Uh, dude, exactly what is to keep the same state workers issuing false drivers licenses now from issuing them with false insurance account numbers later?

I live in DC and I just think it will be so cool to have a President and a Mayor who are both African American and who are my contemporaries. Very cool, indeed. Oh...Sorry. I'm off topic...hehe... Ok...And Nixie, isn't it better to have licensed and insured drivers than uninsured drivers with fake licenses sharing the road with you? ;

Nothing insane about it. It cuts down on UNLICENSED drivers causing accidents. They study , take the test and they have ID to cash checks with. The licensing proceedure weeds out those that shouldn't be driving . If they have a license and insurance , it's less likely to lead to a hit & run situation.

Also.. the 9/11 hijackers were more dependant on getting lessons on flying a plane straight (with no instructions on takeoff or landing) from a flight school that didn't ask the right questions. Drivers licenses didn't help them much there. -

Well here is Nixie once again trying to distract Americans from the disaster created by Bush and which McCain / Palin promise to continue.

It is telling that the GOP has nothing more to offer than smear campaigns. Would you vote for a campaign that lies to you continuously? Nixie's post is more of the same of the kind we see repeatedly from a desperate GOP.
Arab Slave-trader Obama: The Little Lie, and How It Grew
Last week, Gayle Quinnell, a septuagenarian reactionary from Shakopee, Minnesota, confessed - on TV - to G.O.P. candidate John McCain that she fears Democratic candidate Barack Obama because " he's an Arab." McCain replied that, no, Obama's no Arab at all, but a " decent family man" (implying that the two depictions are mutually exclusive).
...To me, the more intriguing element of this bizarre exchange was the word "Arab," rather than the more common Obama epithets, "Muslim," "terrorist" and "Osama." Mrs. Quinnell's "Arab" formulation was just enough off-key to make me wonder where she picked it up...
No matter where I landed after Googling "obama, arab," I inevitably returned to the same damning quote. It goes: "Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side." Also: "Obama is not legally African-American. It is impossible for him to be, in truth, America's first African-American president."
Holy Leopold's ghost, Batman!
As I continued searching, I unearthed this shocker, verbatim, on a dozen websites, including Yahoo!Answers. I found it cited by conservative superstars Rush Limbaugh, Monica Crowley and Laura Ingraham. Every repetition of this statistical proof that Barack Obama is "legally" Arab-American circles back to a Web blogger named Kenneth E. Lamb, a self-described journalist who claims a career of "writing and researching" for such august media outlets as the New York Times, the Miami Herald, the Pentecostal Herald and the Jewish Information Network.
...The above statement represents the sum total of Lamb's documentation. There are no footnotes, no genealogical lists, no weblink to the "Kenyan government." There is no proof of Lamb's assertion that every male ancestor of Barack Obama has an Arabic name. For all this "information," the only Web source - for poor gullible Gayle Quinnell, as well as Limbaugh, Crowley and Ingraham - is Ken Lamb. -

Neocons for McCain Take Action
...WASHINGTON - A group of hardline United States neo-conservatives and former Israeli diplomats were behind the controversial, allegedly Islamaphobic DVD which was recently distributed in US swing states ahead of November's presidential elections.
The 60-minute movie,Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West , was an initiative of the Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET), but produced by the Clarion Fund, an organization described as a "front" for Israeli group Aish Hatorah.
Some 28 million copies of Obsession are currently being inserted in newspapers and delivered by mail in key electoral swing states - such as Michigan, Ohio and Florida which, according to recent polling, could go either way.
.... Of course, the title of this nasty piece of work itself is beyond irony. Obsession is an apt term for a group of people who don't care if they bankrupt the United States of America, don't care if the price of oil hits $200 a barrel because of the wars they favor, and who really don't give a flying fig about how many of our sons and daughters die in those wars, nor about the many more millions of innocent people living in the Middle East who will be killed, wounded or made homeless if America escalates its "war on terror" to even greater heights under a McCain administration. So who is really obsessed? This crap is so obvious that even some cash strapped US newspapers have rejected the siren call of money and refused to distribute the DVD, a rare ethical stance indeed for anyone in the corporate media to take...
...So who is behind this massive effort to scare people into voting for the most likely candidate to start more wars in the Muslim world (uh, that would be you Johnny "POW" McCain)? Let's take a look. Here's a bit of info on who's behind the Clarion Fund:..
...here's a list of people associated with EMET in one capacity or another:
The group is headed by Sarah Stern, who began her activism on Israeli issues in opposition to the 1993 Oslo Accords between Israel and Palestinians. She made a career out of her activism in the far-right Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) as its national policy coordinator from 1998 through 2004.
Notable members of the advisory board include prominent hardline neo-conservatives, including former US UN ambassador the late Jeane Kirkpatrick; Daniel Pipes of the Middle East Forum; and the Hudson Institute's Meyrav Wurmser - the Israeli-born spouse of Vice President Dick Cheney's former top Middle East adviser, David Wurmser.

What a hoot. What do you think just happened with the bailout? Socialism at its best, and these "bailees" on Wall Street are still going to get their billions in bonuses for effing everything up. If that isn't welfare for the wealthy, I don't know what is.

Depending upon the results of the election you may see Texas try to secede
Reply
The Texas Constitution doesn't specifically state it retains the right to secede but the wording implies that considers itself free to do what it wants
Texas Constitution[1](adopted in 1876) Article 1, Section 1
“Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States...” (note that it does not state “...subject to the President of the United States...” or “...subject to the Congress of the United States...” or “...subject to the rest of the United States...”)
When Texas did join the union, they were smarter than most of the other states
Texas did not have to surrender its public lands to the federal government. While Texas did cede all territory outside of its current area to the federal government in 1850, it did not cede any public lands within its current boundaries. This means that generally, the only lands owned by the federal government within Texas have actually been purchased by the government. This also means that the state government has control over oil reserves. In addition, the state's control over offshore oil reserves in Texas runs out to 3 leagues (10.357 miles, 16.668 km) rather than three miles (4.828 km) as with other states
Given the current economic climate in the rest of the US, Texas is in better shape
Unemployment rate:
August 2008: 5%
Sept 2008: 5.1%
Budget surplus current year $10.7 billion
I really don't think they are going to look kindly on the Obama "spread the wealth around" philosophy -

"""I think we should allow latinos to live in Texas. We don't really need that state anyway. It could be a buffer town between North and South."""
Reply
I agree. Texas was a lot more civilized when the spanish were running it. After all, the spanish monarchy already banned slavery in 1508, i.e. 350 years before the "fundie protestants" in america grudgingly gave in. Perhaps enough latinos will move there to end the racial discrimination and rescue Texas from cultural oblivion again.
Black America may get a president before black Americans get to vote
The manipulation and intimidation that African-Americans must face in order to cast a vote will only get worse this year.
...if long lines of black people at polling stations showed the promise of a fledgling democracy in South Africa, the prospect of similar scenes next week will illustrate a failing democracy in the US. A longstanding, systematic, legal and political campaign to suppress the vote in Democratic areas combined with the shambolic, shameful neglect of the electoral infrastructure could yet cause chaos on an unprecedented scale.
In short, come next Tuesday, the issue may not so much be who votes for whom, but who gets to vote and whose votes get counted. A recent CNN poll showed that 42% of voters are not confident their vote will be accurately cast and counted - almost three times the figure four years ago. With the record numbers of newly registered voters will be a record number of lawyers on both sides. If it's close, the courts may once again pick the winner.

Obama'S HEALTH RX: COVER ILLEGALS
Reply
Obama has said, proudly and often, "I am going to give health insurance to 47 million Americans who are now without coverage." But are they "Americans?"
That 47 million statistic includes illegal immigrants - who virtually all lack insurance. In fact, about one in four of those lacking insurance is here illegally. And they are, by far, the group most in need of health insurance.
About 15 million of the remaining uninsured are eligible for Medicaid but haven't signed up - mainly because they haven't gotten sick. When they do, they enroll in Medicaid and we pick up the full tab for their health care relatively cheaply.
The rest of the uninsured pool? Virtually all the children are eligible for the State Children's Health Insurance Program. Some aren't enrolled because the parents haven't bothered, but most are eligible. That leaves about 20 million uninsured adults who are US citizens or legal immigrants. There are far better ways to handle their needs than to turn our entire health-care system upside down.
Care for illegals is the biggest unmet medical need in our nation, and Obama's program targets it squarely. But do we really want to give them federally paid coverage equal to what US senators get, as Obama proposes?
Covering illegals adds dramatically to the cost of any program - and would encourage more folks to enter America illicitly.
Obama's plan will likely have a horrific effect on some local health-care systems.

It's far more likely to help.
Reply
Far and away the most common reason that health care systems are overburdened is that folks with no insurance are forced to go to the emergency room.
Providing folks with insurance would mean that they could get care at an appropriate location and time, and pay for it.
That's win/win. -

A driver's license is not a right. Not to anyone. It is a privilege extended by each state that comes with conditions.

Not quite AB. The answer is to go after the business owners who are employing them and confiscate everything they own, just like is done to drug dealers. If there are no jobs I suspect illegals will leave on their own. A side effect is we can have big auctions and possibly balance the budget from the proceeds, or at least make a dent in the deficit.
