The 9/11 plot depended upon George Bush ignoring the numerous warnings he was given by the intelligence community and depended upon his close ties to the Bin Laden family, which provided Bush with three of the many companies he drove into the ground before driving the US into the toilet.

You mean that same intelligence community that said there was WMD in Irag?
Everybody listened then and turns out we were wrong. They prob cried wolf to many times so we ignored it, Then the wolf came and went. The next cry we acted and now we look like fools. Sounds like someone is playing games.-

Actually, the intelligence community said there was overwhelming evidence that there weren't WMDs in Iraq. BushCo cherrypicked the 'evidence' they wanted and then forced people to spout it as truth. I swear. Americans can barely remember what happened two weeks ago much less eight years ago.

The same Intelligence community that repeatedly said there was no evidence of WMDs, nor for any attempts to acquire them, and then had members of staff fired for doing their job well, and refusing to provide 'politicized' intelligence on demand -- add rinse repeat -- until they found folks more interested in retaining their jobs than providing accurate intelligence, and caved to Cheney's demands for false analyses.
NO ONE who was actually listening to the intelligence community should have ever thought that the claims of the Administration about WMD were true.
The yellow cake nonsense had been easily identified as forgeries, at least as early as the October preceding when the Administration trotted it out as 'proof'. (This was known publicly, and details of the forgery had even been repeatedly covered in the mainstream news.)
- AND, back on topic -
This is a completely bogus story, anyway. Drivers licenses for illegal immigrants had NOTHING to do with 9/11.
The hijackers were in the US -->LEGALLY<--.

In Sept, 2002, Bush announced his plans to invade Iraq and gave his justification for the invasion in his address to the United Nations General Assembly (September 12, 2002): “The conduct of the Iraqi regime is a threat to the authority of the United Nations and a threat to peace. Iraq has answered a decade of U.N. demands with a decade of defiance. All the world now faces a test, and the United Nations a difficult and defining moment. Are Security Council resolutions to be honored and enforced, or cast aside without consequence? Will the United Nations serve the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant?”
Note that Bush did NOT use the alleged WMDs to justify the invasion. It was Saddam’s violation of 17 UN resolutions. Resolution 1441 authorized the use of force as of December 7, 2002, the deadline that had been set by the Security Council on November 8, 2002.
Chief UN weapons inspector Hans Blix (a Swedish constitutional lawyer) opposed the invasion. But he states in his book (“Disarming Iraq”) that "Saddam failed to meet the requirements of UN Resolution 1441, that he showed his contempt for them in fact, and that they were a legal justification for force."
There was one way for Saddam to stop the invasion. All Saddam had to do was leave Iraq. US forces waited for 48 hours to give him time, but he refused. That was the real reason for the invasion - regime change - and the existence or non-existence of WMDs was secondary.
Also:
"In the 4 years since the inspectors [were kicked out of Iraq], intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001….It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capability to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East which, as we know all too well, affects American security.”
Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002 Senate floor before her vote in favor of authorizing the president to go to war in Iraq.
Was Hillary lying? Did Bill Lie? How about Al Gore? Sandy Berger, Madaline Albright, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi?
The TRUTH is this: Those of you accusing Bush of lying are the real liars!-

The Project for the New American Century.

The People versus the Powerful is the oldest story in human history. At no point in history have the Powerful wielded so much control. At no point in history has the active and informed involvement of the People, all of them, been more absolutely required.
By William Rivers Pitt
02/25/03 -- - The Project for the New American Century, or PNAC, is a Washington-based think tank created in 1997. Above all else, PNAC desires and demands one thing: The establishment of a global American empire to bend the will of all nations. They chafe at the idea that the United States, the last remaining superpower, does not do more by way of economic and military force to bring the rest of the world under the umbrella of a new socio-economic Pax Americana.
The fundamental essence of PNAC's ideology can be found in a White Paper produced in September of 2000 entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century." In it, PNAC outlines what is required of America to create the global empire they envision. According to PNAC, America must:
* Reposition permanently based forces to Southern Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East;
* Modernize U.S. forces, including enhancing our fighter aircraft, submarine and surface fleet capabilities;
* Develop and deploy a global missile defense system, and develop a strategic dominance of space;
* Control the "International Commons" of cyberspace;
* Increase defense spending to a minimum of 3.8 percent of gross domestic product, up from the 3 percent currently spent.
Most ominously, this PNAC document described four "Core Missions" for the American military. The two central requirements are for American forces to "fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous major theater wars," and to "perform the 'constabulary' duties associated with shaping the security environment in critical regions." Note well that PNAC does not want America to be prepared to fight simultaneous major wars. That is old school. In order to bring this plan to fruition, the military must fight these wars one way or the other to establish American dominance for all to see.
Why is this important? After all, wacky think tanks are a cottage industry in Washington, DC. They are a dime a dozen. In what way does PNAC stand above the other groups that would set American foreign policy if they could? Two events brought PNAC into the mainstream of American government: the disputed election of George W. Bush, and the attacks of September 11th. When Bush assumed the Presidency, the men who created and nurtured the imperial dreams of PNAC became the men who run the Pentagon, the Defense Department and the White House. When the Towers came down, these men saw, at long last, their chance to turn their White Papers into substantive policy.-

Vice President Dick Cheney is a founding member of PNAC, along with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Defense Policy Board chairman Richard Perle. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz is the ideological father of the group. Bruce Jackson, a PNAC director, served as a Pentagon official for Ronald Reagan before leaving government service to take a leading position with the weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin.
Reply
PNAC is staffed by men who previously served with groups like Friends of the Democratic Center in Central America, which supported America's bloody gamesmanship in Nicaragua and El Salvador, and with groups like The Committee for the Present Danger, which spent years advocating that a nuclear war with the Soviet Union was "winnable."
PNAC has recently given birth to a new group, The Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, which met with National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice in order to formulate a plan to "educate" the American populace about the need for war in Iraq. CLI has funneled millions of taxpayer dollars to support the Iraqi National Congress and the Iraqi heir presumptive, Ahmed Chalabi. Chalabi was sentenced in absentia by a Jordanian court in 1992 to
22 years in prison for bank fraud after the collapse of Petra Bank, which he founded in 1977. Chalabi has not set foot in Iraq since 1956, but his Enron-like business credentials apparently make him a good match for the Bush administration's plans.
PNAC's "Rebuilding America's Defenses" report is the institutionalization of plans and ideologies that have been formulated for decades by the men currently running American government. The PNAC Statement of Principles is signed by Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld, as well as by Eliot Abrams, Jeb Bush, Bush's special envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad, and many others. William Kristol, famed conservative writer for the Weekly Standard, is also a co-founder of the group. The Weekly Standard is owned by Ruppert Murdoch, who also owns international media giant Fox News.
The desire for these freshly empowered PNAC men to extend American hegemony by force of arms across the globe has been there since day one of the Bush administration, and is in no small part a central reason for the Florida electoral battle in 2000. Note that while many have said that Gore and Bush are ideologically identical, Mr. Gore had no ties whatsoever to the fellows at PNAC. George W. Bush had to win that election by any means necessary, and PNAC signatory Jeb Bush was in the perfect position to ensure the rise to prominence of his fellow imperialists. Desire for such action, however, is by no means translatable into workable policy. Americans enjoy their comforts, but don't cotton to the idea of being some sort of Neo-Rome.-

Bush released on September 20th 2001 the "National Security Strategy of the United States of America." It is an ideological match to PNAC's "Rebuilding America's Defenses" report issued a year earlier. In many places, it uses exactly the same language to describe America's new place in the world.
Recall that PNAC demanded an increase in defense spending to at least 3.8% of GDP. Bush's proposed budget for next year asks for $379 billion in defense spending, almost exactly 3.8% of GDP. -

Talk about a gift for blurring the line between opinion and fact.
In your opinion you don't lend it credence.
Stating that you hold a given opinion makes for an amazingly weak, and completely pointless fact, since it isn't any stronger than the opinion to which it refers.
It certainly doesn't qualify as a fact that would counter any of what Hannibal just posted, which is documentable, as both of his references are a matter of public record.

Conservative: Are Bush/Cheney Offenses Impeachable?
Have President Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney committed impeachable offenses for which they should be convicted and removed from office by duping then-House Majority Leader Richard K. Armey into supporting legislation authorizing war against Iraq with twin lies -- that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had personal ties to Osama bin Laden's terrorist network; and that Saddam had miniaturized nuclear weapons, which could be unleashed by employing al Qaeda as a delivery system?
.... After discovering the truth, Mr. Armey lamented he could probably have prevented the Iraqi war debacle: "Had I known or believed then what I believe I know now, I would have publicly opposed the resolution right to the bitter end, and I believe I might have stopped it from happening, and I believe I would have done a better service to my country had I done so."
...Mr. Armey should be summoned to testify under oath before the House Judiciary Committee about his statements in "Angler" implicating Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney in lies to dupe the House of Representatives over war in Iraq. The president and vice president should be given an opportunity to respond under oath but subject to cross-examination.
If the totality of evidence corroborates Mr. Armey's recollection, shouldn't the House immediately vote to impeach Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney and send their cases for trials in the Senate? Wouldn't that action honor the original intent of the Founding Fathers that the Bush administration professes to cherish?

You also ignore that the 19 hijackers enter the country under Clinton's watch. While intelligence knew they were up to something, no one knew WHERE or WHEN. And because they carried out the attack on Bush's watch, it was GW's fault? Even Billary has refused to make that claim. Just what do you suggest that GWB should have done? Just what options did GWB and the FBI have that would not have satisfied your concerns about justice and our liberties.
I am a Democrat, but I get really angry when people blame Bush unfairly. They just want a scapegoat. As long as we are looking for scapegoats, we are not going to find solutions. Too many Americans refuse to take responsibility for their own problems.
We created our own problems with our:
- addiction to oil (we each use 5X the world's average)
- overabundance and misuse of SUVs (some people can justify owning a SUV)
- our greedy consumption of cheap imports (that is why 4M+ jobs have gone overseas)
- gluttonous and shameful waste of health care resources
- failure to exercise simple self-discipline (we eat and drink way too much)
- lack of WISE environmental responsibility (another reason for jobs moving overseas)
- insistence on easy credit and big houses
- failure to instill a solid work ethic in our children
and the list goes on.
That is why this is one MORE Democrat who is voting for McCain.
I do not want the POTUS, McCain or Obama, to make personal decisions for me and my family. I do not want the "guv'mint" taking care of me. That is NOT how America became the great nation it is! Yes- we have our problems, but, no other country is without their problems. I think in spite of our problems, we are the best country in the world and I am tired of liberal @$$holes trying to convince everyone that we suck!-

America's Own Kleptocracy »
Nobody expected industrial capitalism to end up like this. A kleptocratic class has taken over the economy to replace industrial capitalism.
America has entered into a new war – a War to Save Computerized Derivative Traders. Like the Iraq war, it is based largely on fictions and entered into under seeming emergency conditions – to which the solution has little relation to the underlying cause of the problems. On financial security grounds the government is to make good on the collateralized debt obligations packaged (CDOs) that Warren Buffett has called “weapons of mass financial destruction.”
Hardly by surprise, this giveaway of public money is being handled by the same group that warned the country so piously about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Pres. Bush and Treasury Secretary Paulson have piously announced that this is no time for partisan disagreements over this shift of public policy to favor creditors rather than debtors. There is no time to make the biggest bailout in election history an election issue. Not an appropriate time to debate whether it is a good thing to re-inflate housing prices to a level that will continue to oblige new home buyers to go so deeply into debt that they must pay some 40 percent of their take-home pay on housing....

The phrase you're looking for is "igonorant of al Qaeda in 1999", which would have been the shrub, who was completely clueless -- and who continued to be after taking office.
Clinton had authorized the assassination of Bin Laden, if the opportunity presented itself, and his administration did make al Qaeda a priority. The outgoing administration specifically asked for time to brief the shrub on al Qaeda, and they were told not to bother because the new administration would be determining their own priorities.

The national license/ID standards cover:
What data must be included on the card;
What documentation must be presented before a card can be issued; and
How the states must share their databases.
This may sound not so bad, but, you now will be required to, in essence, have a federal ID issued by the states in order get on a plane, do business of any kind, medicare included, with the federal government.
Show your papers! Sound familiar?-

Not only is 'Real ID' an unfunded attempted mandate, but DHS (let alone TSA) has NO authority to require or enforce Real ID be implemented in the manner they're attempting to do so.
The law they keep touting out as providing their authority in the matter even specifically stipulates that they have NO authority to create, are actually prohibited from creating a National ID. (That's why they're attempting to do an end run and make the states do it for them.)-

Yes, unfortunately Florida isn't one of them. Our Governor was Jeb Bush. Question: What is REAL ID?
Reply
Answer: REAL ID is a nationwide effort to improve the integrity and security of State-issued driver licenses and identification cards, which in turn will help fight terrorism and reduce fraud.
Question: Does Florida plan to issue Real ID licenses and ID cards?
Answer: Yes, Florida has already met most of the requirements and is on track to begin issuing Real ID licenses and ID cards by no later than January 1, 2010.

You may feel free to ignore my logic. I was referring to actual cases of fraudulent licenses being issued to illegals. Big business here in Georgia. Fortunately each license can be tracked to the person who issued it. Almost down to the exact terminal it was keyed on and the minute it was keyed. Once the fraudulent driver is caught, finding the state employee behind it is merely a matter of time. Assuming it was not done by 3rd party document forgery.

Nothing insane about it. It cuts down on UNLICENSED drivers causing accidents. They study , take the test and they have ID to cash checks with. The licensing proceedure weeds out those that shouldn't be driving . If they have a license and insurance , it's less likely to lead to a hit & run situation.

Also.. the 9/11 hijackers were more dependant on getting lessons on flying a plane straight (with no instructions on takeoff or landing) from a flight school that didn't ask the right questions. Drivers licenses didn't help them much there.-

Arab Slave-trader Obama: The Little Lie, and How It Grew
Last week, Gayle Quinnell, a septuagenarian reactionary from Shakopee, Minnesota, confessed - on TV - to G.O.P. candidate John McCain that she fears Democratic candidate Barack Obama because " he's an Arab." McCain replied that, no, Obama's no Arab at all, but a " decent family man" (implying that the two depictions are mutually exclusive).
...To me, the more intriguing element of this bizarre exchange was the word "Arab," rather than the more common Obama epithets, "Muslim," "terrorist" and "Osama." Mrs. Quinnell's "Arab" formulation was just enough off-key to make me wonder where she picked it up...
No matter where I landed after Googling "obama, arab," I inevitably returned to the same damning quote. It goes: "Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side." Also: "Obama is not legally African-American. It is impossible for him to be, in truth, America's first African-American president."
Holy Leopold's ghost, Batman!
As I continued searching, I unearthed this shocker, verbatim, on a dozen websites, including Yahoo!Answers. I found it cited by conservative superstars Rush Limbaugh, Monica Crowley and Laura Ingraham. Every repetition of this statistical proof that Barack Obama is "legally" Arab-American circles back to a Web blogger named Kenneth E. Lamb, a self-described journalist who claims a career of "writing and researching" for such august media outlets as the New York Times, the Miami Herald, the Pentecostal Herald and the Jewish Information Network.
...The above statement represents the sum total of Lamb's documentation. There are no footnotes, no genealogical lists, no weblink to the "Kenyan government." There is no proof of Lamb's assertion that every male ancestor of Barack Obama has an Arabic name. For all this "information," the only Web source - for poor gullible Gayle Quinnell, as well as Limbaugh, Crowley and Ingraham - is Ken Lamb.-

However, by delving into the Web beyond the point where Mrs. Quinnell hung up her mouse, I learned a few things about Obama's lineage. First, yes, his mom was white. Second, according to Wikipedia and Britannica, Barack Obama's African half originates in the Luo tribe, who fled their roots in Sudan, bound for Kenya, in roughly 1500 A.D. The Luo - who are black as the ace of spades - have no blood connection to the Arabs who invaded Sudan about 500 years ago. Until the early 20th century, Luos got by with only one name. Under British colonial rule, they were forced to take a family name. So Barack Obama's grandfather, Onyango, simply combined his name with his father's, relabeling himself Onyango Obama. Both names, by the way - according to Ethnologue.com - are Luo, not Arabic. Obama means "slightly bent."
Reply
...For the record, according to the Sun-Times, prior generations of Barack Obama's male forebears (the Luos, until recently, never kept track of mothers' names) were named Mwiru, Sigoma, Owiny, Kisodhi, Ogelo, Otondi, Obongo and Obiyo.
So, what's the difference? Who cares if Barack Obama's forebears were Negro - as they appear to be - or Arab? For sane people, it's all the same. Most of us live side-by-side, in harmony, with Arab-Americans like Dr. Michael DeBakey, Jerry Seinfeld, Ralph Nader, Donna Shalala, Paula Abdul and Frank Zappa.
But Kenneth Lamb's point is that by lying about his Arabicity, Barack Obama is concealing his very identity. Hence, we cannot trust any word that comes out of his lying mouth. Lamb writes that if Obama were to admit that Mwiru, Owiny, Obiyo and Nyaoke were ALL Arab slave-traders, "Mr. Obama will have to admit that which he has never been forced to admit before, even in the face of the massive lies of his autobiography: Mr. Obama's entire projection of who he is, and what he is, is a lie."
Yeah, well, trouble is, according to the record, Obama is actually what he says he is - a half-caste darkie with a weird-ass name. So, how can we explain a growing posse of Web cadets out there - Gayle, Rush and Laura among them - who take Kenneth Lamb's dippy confection about Arabobama the Slave Prince of Wau at face value? Perhaps all we need to do is scroll back to a simpler, more analog era...
One of the Third Reich's lasting contributions to Western culture was the articulation by Nazi propaganda guru Joseph Paul Goebbels of a strategy he called the Big Lie - a whopper told so often, so brazenly and with such conviction that it morphs magically into Gospel in the minds of the masses. Today, the Big Lie remains alive and well, but - judging by Ken Lamb's blog, the Drudge Report and other Internet travesties - it's evident that the Web has spun a 21st-century subspecies of Goebbels' brainstorm: the Little Lie. .....

How desperate the zioncons like Nixie are to elect McCain! The israel-firsters really, really want to keep killing americans in the mideast for zionism. Will they be able to sucker enough americans with such silly stories?

Neocons for McCain Take Action
...WASHINGTON - A group of hardline United States neo-conservatives and former Israeli diplomats were behind the controversial, allegedly Islamaphobic DVD which was recently distributed in US swing states ahead of November's presidential elections.
The 60-minute movie,Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West , was an initiative of the Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET), but produced by the Clarion Fund, an organization described as a "front" for Israeli group Aish Hatorah.
Some 28 million copies of Obsession are currently being inserted in newspapers and delivered by mail in key electoral swing states - such as Michigan, Ohio and Florida which, according to recent polling, could go either way.
.... Of course, the title of this nasty piece of work itself is beyond irony. Obsession is an apt term for a group of people who don't care if they bankrupt the United States of America, don't care if the price of oil hits $200 a barrel because of the wars they favor, and who really don't give a flying fig about how many of our sons and daughters die in those wars, nor about the many more millions of innocent people living in the Middle East who will be killed, wounded or made homeless if America escalates its "war on terror" to even greater heights under a McCain administration. So who is really obsessed? This crap is so obvious that even some cash strapped US newspapers have rejected the siren call of money and refused to distribute the DVD, a rare ethical stance indeed for anyone in the corporate media to take...
...So who is behind this massive effort to scare people into voting for the most likely candidate to start more wars in the Muslim world (uh, that would be you Johnny "POW" McCain)? Let's take a look. Here's a bit of info on who's behind the Clarion Fund:..
...here's a list of people associated with EMET in one capacity or another:
The group is headed by Sarah Stern, who began her activism on Israeli issues in opposition to the 1993 Oslo Accords between Israel and Palestinians. She made a career out of her activism in the far-right Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) as its national policy coordinator from 1998 through 2004.
Notable members of the advisory board include prominent hardline neo-conservatives, including former US UN ambassador the late Jeane Kirkpatrick; Daniel Pipes of the Middle East Forum; and the Hudson Institute's Meyrav Wurmser - the Israeli-born spouse of Vice President Dick Cheney's former top Middle East adviser, David Wurmser.-

Other prominent neo-conservative members of the board include Center for Security Policy (CSP) president Frank Gaffney; former Central Intelligence Agency chief James Woolsey; and Heritage Foundation fellows Ariel Cohen and Nina Shea, who has served for years on the quasi-governmental US Commission for International Religious Freedom.
Reply
The US-born and educated hardline deputy managing editor of the Jerusalem Post and senior fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs at Gaffney's CSP, Caroline Glick, is also an adviser. Glick, Pipes and Walid Shoebat, a "reformed" terrorist and EMET adviser, are all featured as experts in Obsession. Also among the top names of listed advisers to EMET are three Israeli diplomats. Two of them, ambassadors Yossi Ben Aharon and Yoram Ettinger, were among the three Israeli ambassadors whom then-Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin referred to as "The Three Musketeers" when they lobbied Washington in opposition to the Oslo accords. ...
...Well, that seems pretty clear now, doesn't it. These groups are run and controlled by a veritable who's who list of hard right Israeli and American Neoconservatives with a history of promoting war against Israel's "enemies" in the Middle East. Many of them hold current, or held former, prominent positions in US and Israeli governments, and all are aligned with the most pro-war and far right political factions in both countries. And they just happened to spend millions of dollars distributing an extremely biased and hateful propaganda DVD to millions of American families just in time to attempt to influence the outcome of the US Presidential race.
Does anyone seriously believe that the McCain campaign, run by a former Rove protege, Steve Schmidt, was unaware of this targeted effort in battleground states like Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Colorado, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, Missouri to convince people the "filthy wogs" are out to kill us all? Well, certainly not anyone who can keep a straight face while asserting McCain and his minions' "ignorance" of this effort which, surprise, surprise, came only days before the first debate between McCain and Obama on foreign policy was to be held. ..

Something that you are prone to do yourself with your constant reverences to zionism.
In 2000 the muslim (arab) community in Florida and elsewhere PROUDLY committed their votes to G. W. Bush for his promise to the Saudis to be the FIRST American President to call for a Palestain state.
A little disappointed? Your mentioned a while ago your lineage to Iran. Time to rejoin your Muslim friends. The Sudan is nice this time of year and you can buy Black Christians on the Cheap.

That is true. However, voting legally does require citizenship. It is up to the government to devise a way to ensure that only U.S. citizens vote.
Most illegals wouldn't bother as they are trying to "fly under the radar" anyway. The obvious reason for a fake SS ID is to gain employment, not for voting. -

Wouldn't it be a hoot. The guys admits he is an illegal at the desk. They tell him, "Now lets have you do a road test" because of course this is required when you haven't had a legal license before. When the guy sticks out his hands to put them on the wheel the cuffs go on. Drive him straight to INS and deport his butt!
The Right is so desperate but I feel even worse. If obama loses next week we get four more years of the same slop. And it's pretty bland and tasteless. And malnourishing my bank account. And we get a "Redneck Woman" as VP waiting like a vulture for McCain to die. If that happens we become the absolute laughingstock of the world. And as an American I am tired of being looked down upon by the other 6 Billion people on this planet. We used to actually be respected. But that was before George Bush. Are enough Americans really dumb enough to let that happen again? To once again vote against their own economic interests? We shall see.

Obama'S HEALTH RX: COVER ILLEGALS
Reply
Obama has said, proudly and often, "I am going to give health insurance to 47 million Americans who are now without coverage." But are they "Americans?"
That 47 million statistic includes illegal immigrants - who virtually all lack insurance. In fact, about one in four of those lacking insurance is here illegally. And they are, by far, the group most in need of health insurance.
About 15 million of the remaining uninsured are eligible for Medicaid but haven't signed up - mainly because they haven't gotten sick. When they do, they enroll in Medicaid and we pick up the full tab for their health care relatively cheaply.
The rest of the uninsured pool? Virtually all the children are eligible for the State Children's Health Insurance Program. Some aren't enrolled because the parents haven't bothered, but most are eligible. That leaves about 20 million uninsured adults who are US citizens or legal immigrants. There are far better ways to handle their needs than to turn our entire health-care system upside down.
Care for illegals is the biggest unmet medical need in our nation, and Obama's program targets it squarely. But do we really want to give them federally paid coverage equal to what US senators get, as Obama proposes?
Covering illegals adds dramatically to the cost of any program - and would encourage more folks to enter America illicitly.
Obama's plan will likely have a horrific effect on some local health-care systems.

Far and away the most common reason that health care systems are overburdened is that folks with no insurance are forced to go to the emergency room.
Providing folks with insurance would mean that they could get care at an appropriate location and time, and pay for it.
That's win/win.-

Putting the Pentagon on the Auction Block
The militarization of our society is, unfortunately, a subject most Americans seem remarkably uninterested in thinking about, and so what might be involved in demilitarizing our country (which is not faintly the same as disarming it, thank you) and un-garrisoning the planet is not much discussed. That's why Turse's thoughts below about what a "Pentagon tag sale" might mean for us seem so refreshing.

Social Security is $3.7 trillion short of what it will need for benefits over the next 75 years, under the latest federal projections. Medicare must find an estimated $27.8 trillion.
If they can't even run Medicare and SS, what makes you think the govenment can provide healthcare for everyone?-

The problem hasn't been how Social Security and Medicare have been run, it's that they've been made the piggy bank every time the hacks in power (pick your party, they've both guilty of it) have wanted to fund pet projects. And they haven't paid back the piggy bank.
Reply
Since the money hasn't been where it's supposed to be, being used as it's supposed to be, and all of the interest on those funds that was supposed to have been earned has also been lost, that's why were talking shortfalls.
If the legislators weren't allowed to 'borrow' from it, it would be fine.
And, in case you haven't been paying attention, the current lack of a health care system doesn't work too well, either.
Obama is NOT talking about nationalizing health care. The current system would remain in place for the majority of Americans who already have employer-based coverage. And, the remainder would be able to get insurance from a choice of providers who would have an opportunity to gain customers in a much larger pool, with more broadly distributed risk.
It's actually a much less radical change than is proposed by McCain, who wants to tax everyone's medical coverage as income.

A veteran FBI agent Thursday (Wright) charged that corruption inside the bureau derailed investigations that could have averted the terrorist attacks on America on Sept. 11. His lawyers said the FBI had evidence that the World Trade Center was a possible terrorist target.
Wright produced a sworn statement relating to an FBI agent who refused to record a telephone conversation during the meeting with a suspect in an FBI criminal investigation related to terrorism.
The agent in question is quoted in two sworn statements, one by Wright and the other by retired agent Barry Carmody, as refusing to record the conversation because "a Muslim does not record another Muslim."
The agent that did NOT want to record the conversation was subsequently PROMOTED BY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION. Ands sent to Saudi Arabia as the bureau chief.-

Stopped the CIA? No one. The CIA didn't have possession of the laptop to which you refer. The NSA refused to share their intelligence with the CIA, but NSA never shared with anyone, except as it advanced the interests of the NSA first.
Stopped the FBI? Strictly speaking, it was the State Department, actually, who, quite uncharacteristically failed to provide support for what would normally have been a routine warrant.
(If you want to polish your AFDB, ask instead who instructed the State Department to obstruct the warrant request.)

Americas Political Cannibalism
It is no longer our economy but our democracy that is in peril. It was the economic meltdown of Yugoslavia that gave us Slobodan Milosevic. It was the collapse of the Weimar Republic that vomited up Adolf Hitler. And it was the breakdown in czarist Russia that opened the door for Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks. Financial collapses lead to political extremism. The rage bubbling up from our impoverished and disenfranchised working class, glimpsed at John McCain rallies, presages a looming and dangerous right-wing backlash.
As the public begins to grasp the depth of the betrayal and abuse by our ruling class, as the Democratic and Republican parties are exposed as craven tools of our corporate state, as savings accounts, college funds and retirement plans become worthless, as unemployment skyrockets and as home values go up in smoke, we must prepare for the political resurgence of a reinvigorated radical Christian right. The engine of this mass movement—as is true for all radical movements—is personal and economic despair. And despair, in an age of increasing shortages, poverty and hopelessness, will be one of our few surplus commodities.-

Karl Polanyi in his book “The Great Transformation,” written in 1944, laid out the devastating consequences—the depressions, wars and totalitarianism—that grow out of a so-called self-regulated free market. He grasped that “fascism, like socialism, was rooted in a market society that refused to function.” He warned that a financial system always devolved, without heavy government control, into a Mafia capitalism—and a Mafia political system—which is a good description of the American government under George W. Bush. Polanyi wrote that a self-regulating market, the kind bequeathed to us since Ronald Reagan, turned human beings and the natural environment into commodities, a situation that ensures the destruction of both society and the natural environment. He decried the free market’s belief that nature and human beings are objects whose worth is determined by the market. He reminded us that a society that no longer recognizes that nature and human life have a sacred dimension, an intrinsic worth beyond monetary value, ultimately commits collective suicide. Such societies cannibalize themselves until they die. Speculative excesses and growing inequality, he wrote, always destroy the foundation for a continued prosperity. ....

Those dark forces arrayed against American democracy are waiting for a moment to strike, a national crisis that will allow them in the name of national security and moral renewal to shred the Constitution. They have the tools. They will use fear, chaos, the hatred for the ruling elites and the specter of left-wing dissent and terrorism to impose draconian controls to extinguish our democracy. And while they do it they will be waving the American flag, singing patriotic slogans and clutching the Christian cross....

I think you got your facts wrong. That's Democrat AND Republican! You can't just point a finger at Bush when you complain about that.
From Bush Lies.org
In lies of omission it's what they imply, not what they say. For example, the other evening Bush told Congress and the American people that he was putting a "lock box" on Social Security. Now, it's very clear that Bush wanted us to feel secure in the belief that he was protecting all of our Social Security funds for the future. No question, right? Yet, the very next day when his budget book was released, we learned that Bush told a lie of omission. What he didn't tell Congress and the American people is that he would later take from $.6 to $1 trillion out of that "lock box" to cover his tax cuts.
So shrub takes how much from social security, but Obama is a what again as he is redistributing the wealth??????
Hells Bells when will people get it that politicans lie, what shrub did was take money mostly from mainstreet to cover the riches tax breaks, and he is a hero ?????

The two senators focused on economic themes at the start of an intensive three-day push in the Sunshine State, a critical battleground that voted for President Bush in the last two elections but where Mr Obama now has a slight edge in the polls.
As Mrs Clinton made a heartfelt appeal to her supporters "to work as hard for Barack as you did for me", her husband, former president Bill Clinton, turned out for Mr Obama nearly 3,000 miles to the west in another battleground, Nevada.
In a trio of stops, Mr Clinton pressed the case for an Obama presidency, arguing he was the candidate best suited to restoring the "American dream" and repairing "America's standing in the world".
"If you watch those debates, you know Barack Obama has a better economic plan, a better health care plan by light years, a better education plan, a better energy plan and a better understanding of how to restore America's standing in the world," Mr Clinton told the cheering crowd.

Since we were buying goods from Mexico but Mexico had import duties on goods from the United States, Clinton pushed for Nafta to reduce the duty on American goods and to improve the buying capability of the Mexican People. To do that he forged an agreement where certain goods, not economically produced in the United States would be given favorable treatment and even helped the Mexican Government with loans (all of which were repaid ahead of time) to build factories.
A population drift into Northern Mexico from the rural districts of Mexico followed to fill those factories.
Instead of producing goods for the US, a change in government in Mexico and in the United States fostered those Mexican companies to buy the goods from Asia and even cheaper cost.
The Mexican who had migrated to the boarder towns in expectation of jobs were now left without any, but across the boarder were a welcoming committee of US manufacturers who saw the Mexican Labor and cheap and available. The "producers" could not export these jobs to cheap oversees sources, but did the next best thing..imported the labor.
That's where we stand. We should have stopped the importation of goods from Mexico not made there and forced the Mexicans to provide manufacturing jobs for their people.
But Greed and well placed bribes kept our boarders porous.
The solution is pretty easy, if we can give up on cheap labor. As an Operations VP I know that direct labor is one of the heapest parts of manufacturing....but may impact a bonus or two.

Its a smart move how else could you track and identify criminals ,terrorist and all illegals also law enforcement wouldn't have to spend resources to search for these people they would come to us on their own free will,This should have been done years ago!

Palin running in 2012? They better say 2016, because Obama is a two Term President. Come 2012 Obama will have this country in a resurgence, and who will want to bring in a new President just when the country is about to get over the hump?

What is it going to take for you people to see that Obama is all wrong for our country.

In short order, Obama will make America unrecognizable. It will no longer be the America we all know and love.
Next Tuesday is the day we all go vote, please keep this in mind when you go to cast your vote.
DON'T VOTE WITH YOUR EMOTIONS. VOTE FOR YOUR COUNTRIES BEST INTEREST!
Obama isn't it! -

yup america is going to be great under an osama presidency...isn't it - PEOPLE what the F**K! Doesn't anyone see a problem with this... Obama associates himself with 2 different proven terrorists but the LA Times are refusing to release it - if it was McCain they would have released it-he will win ONLY because he is African American and that is not a reason to win the PRESIDENCY!!! our Commander in chief should not get that title just because of the color of his skin, he is a racists talking about his "typical white grandmother" , he deals with people like rezco - gee what else... it's a shame that there needs to be something else but here it is did we all forget about Rev. Write??? isn't that the racists name??? what were his words - oh yeah " god damn america!" he can go to hell also our men and women are busting they're asses in war for us and this thing is going to say that!!!! Already people are hurting people because of who they are voting for - no one has the right to hurt anyone else because you vote for someone else! who the hell do these people think they are!!! OBAMA SUPPORTERS! This is just the beginning of horrible times - worse than what we have already been through - think war is bad overseas - we'll see how much people like it right here at home! Like Biden said "mark my words!" this is gonna suck!

We need to vote into office an already recognized leader, rather than electing someone and then trying to make a leader out of that person! George Washington was a leader already. He did what he could and what he felt he must do to better and to protect the people he was with. He didn't even wish to be "President". The majority elected him in the position of President. By the way, this country is a Republic, not a Demacracy. For starters recite The Pledge of Allegience.

I have heard many people talk as if this is a crazy plan. As a 14 year police officer in northwestern Arizona, I don't think it's at all crazy. Most illegal immigrants never produce any verifiable identification. A police officer in the U.S. cannot run a check on a mexican credential like a U.S. drivers license so you really have no idea who you're speaking to, or whether they're a violent criminal rather than a hard-working immigrant without ID. Police officers in my part of the world are not trained or resourced to act as immigration police. INS, unfortunately, is not either from what I've seen.

When you arrest an illegal immigrant they are held (and fed, and given medical care) for a few days at a local jail, then released with an INS hearing scheduled. They adopt a new name (for which they also have no verifiable ID) and disappear. Does this sound like an easy way for an illegal to skirt the system? While it is true that a person can falsely obtain a state drivers license, that depends on the documents which are accepted by each state to establish identity for a license.
Licensing aliens is not a cure for this problem, and I'm not suggesting that an alien with a drivers license be granted any rights other than to drive. This plan, even with its flaws, is better than any I've heard to identify and track aliens without spending the government (further) into oblivion. It is certainly dependent upon whether the aliens themselves would actually make the effort to obtain the license. In Arizona, one incentive to do so would be to avoid having their cars towed and impounded for a mandatory 30 days because they have no license.
Yes, the criminals amongst illegal aliens will still find a way to game the system. The criminals who are citizens do the same, but it is harder for them to disappear the way an illegal can.
