Its very difficult to believe that Palin is the new standard bearer in the Republican party. She's W in a skirt, just much less wealthy and without the good connections.
One would think that they would clue into what direction the population wants to move, and she's stuck in reverse.-

I think Sarah Palin WILL run for President in 2012. Whether or not she will be nominated is anybody's guess.

Palin's Assembly of God faith has ministries like Exodus (or - as I like to call it - homo no mo ministries) which work to convert gays to straights (we all know how that works out). They are also fervent last days nuts who would love nothing better than for Palin to usher in Armageddon. She is a dangerous woman.
Now some on my right may think that my view of her is overblown, but I don't think so. And it is the truth.
My hope is that cooler heads in the Republican Party will prevail. I hope that they would return to the core message of fiscal responsibility (a message that is more than just about tax cuts). I hope they reject the religious nutcase wing of the party....
But the religious right has been courted by the Republicans since Jerry Falwell darkened the door's of Reagan's Oval Office in the 1980s. They may nominating Palin, claiming that the loss was due to the John McCain muddling her message (yes, she does have a diva complex...)
In a weird way, I hope they DO nominate her. She will lose again, and the Republican Party will stay in the wilderness...until they realize that "divide and conquer" is NOT a strategy that will work with the American people anymore...-

I think she will run in 2012 but will not be the Repub nominee. She was not properly vetted this time around and as we are learning she has so many skeletons in her closet. By the time the Repubs start examining their candidates for 2012, people like Romney, Huckabee, and etc. will be fully loaded with ammo to shoot down Palin. The nomination process is a "dog eat dog" event and since their is ostensibly no political partisanship, they will go after her limited experience and everything else.

I suspect you are right. I don't think the Wall Street crowd who really pull the levers of the Republican party in order to get money vacuumed out of the middle class and into their pockets are ready to turn over control of the Party to a lady who apparently is a whack-job or to any of the wedge issue groups they have played as fools for so long to maintain their grip on power.

A simplistic view would be done with the logical test. Imagine Palin as the next POTUS ... exactly Just because some kind of shinanigans went on in Alaska does not mean that the rest of CONUS has to follow!
Reply
Peter's Principal perfectly illustrates the Palin/ McCain scenario - rising to the level of of his/her incompetence. That is usually, IMHO, the problem in politics - people tend to assume that holding a public office - regardless of the level - qualifies that person to hold an office at any level. Case in point Palin as a Mayor then becoming Governor .of Alaska. Ironically like Bush, she too shows her true colors when not surrounded by her staff or subject matter experts.
Regardless of whether some of you are just postulating on the public stage here, the fact remains - I would never trust this woman to command my team or any other military team as the Commander-in-Chief, not just with a definitive no, but a HELL NO!!!
For those of you who have never had to deal with life or death situations, I can only say, that is probably why you would even toy with even accepting her as a Vice President.

McCain was forced to take Palin by the religious extremists in the Republican party. The question is what will happen to the GOP after McCain loses. Many moderate republicans are abandoning the party due to the extremist trends evidenced by Palin and it might be taken over by the extremists, who have lots of money.

Secretive Right-Wing Group Forced McCain to take Palin
The Council for National Policy , an ultra-secretive cabal that networks wealthy right-wing donors together with top conservative operatives to plan long-term movement strategy forced McCain to choose Palin as the VP candidate.

The religious extremist groups supporting Palin have been growing ever since Reagan used them to restore militarism in the US and to eradicate christians in central america. They will not go away easily and may turn violent.

Palin's Connections with Domestic Terrorists
http://www.propeller.com/story/2008/10/26/palin39s...
The most compelling hypocrisy of the "terrorism" issue is Palin's own contemporary associations with fringe groups committed to themes of antigovernment violence. A number of reports have noted, for instance, Palin's association with the Alaska Independence Party (AIP), a group that is trying to get Alaska to secede from the United States. Largely unreported is the deeper extremism of the AIP and its national party organization, the Constitution Party. The Ayers story is a distraction from the real and ongoing relationships that Sarah Palin has with armed rightists, a story she invites with her vacuous allegations on "terrorism."
... The Constitution Party, formerly known as the U.S. Taxpayers Party (USTP), was founded in 1992 as an electoral vehicle for the growing vigilante movements that called themselves militias, as well as racists and violent antiabortion militants.
The origins of the national party go back to the American Independent Party of 1968, which was a joint effort of the John Birch Society and the Ku Klux Klan to run George Wallace for president. Various carryover elements, including the Birchers, led to the creation of the Constitution Party.
After the party was formed, a 1994 research report by Planned Parenthood, which was tracking antiabortion violence, characterized the group as "the new political home to a growing and unusual convergence of militant antiabortion leaders, elements of the violent and racist right, members of the John Birch Society and Far Right politicians."
...Sarah Palin maintained friendly relations with the Alaska branch of the Constitution Party for many years, according to many news reports. She attended their convention again in 2000 and in 2006 sought their support for her run for governor. In June 2008 she sent them a video wishing them "good luck on a successful and inspiring convention, keep up the good work and God bless you.-

In other words, she's a "trojan moose" for the right-wing extremists to use to get into the Oval Office with even more control than they had with W. She is the last person I would want in control of the largest nuclear arsenal in the world.

Immediately after she was given the position the Liberal hate machine cranked up and started twisting anything and everything she said and did to tarnish her image. There were 1 to 3 stories on this site for over 3 weeks that were lies and the liberals had rhetorical orgasms over them. But they never ever admitted any of them were lies. Some like hyper still believe some of those lies. Then hayseed says "Those loyal to McCain believe they have been unfairly blamed for over-handling Palin." What a crock. I have never before seen so much vitriol poured out on any political figure. And you liberals think that all of those attacks were just fine. Conservatives bring up things in Obama's past dealings with organizations and people that are all documented but we are lying. Facts mean nothing to liberals it seems. Only emotions are the truth.

Ummmmmmmm, ya might want to think about things for a little bit before ya go off half cocked, or stuck on stupid !!!
Palin has been doing everything she can to demonize Obama. The stories are half truths, at best. Meaning yes Obama might have had dealings with persons', but not as extensively as she has with Ted Stevens, now a convicted felon !!!! That was her teacher, her mentor, she was his protege.
So she best be ducking when she starts slinging, that crap is going to bounce back in her face !!!!! LOL
No, she is the female GW Bush just as looney and probably just as lost in space and time !!!!
But hey look at the bright side, she has people like you for a base. How comforting that must be for her !!! -

Shut up endo and quit acting like a moron. What do you mean 1 to 3 stories. You were here. How many? What the hell are you complaining about when you can't even state what you are objecting to? I would refute you if you said anything that had a shred of reality as opposed to 1 to 3 stories that you don't even know what they are or how many stories. What you mean is Sarah Palin is making an idiot of herself and the media is telling it like it is but you think reporting reality is not fair because of reasons you don't have the balls to put up for debate. As far as the fact that you have never seen such vitriol poured out on a figure I suggest opening your eyes to reality and look at what the republicans did to Hillary. When you say that you have not seen it that only means you are ignorant and should shut the hell up because you don't know what you are talking about. And as far as facts vs emotion you are dumber than crap. It is a well proven fact that republicans appeal to the reptilian brain with emotional loaded words like Liberal or Socialist that none of you know the meaning to. Why don't you all just tell the truth and say "Obama is a N!gger" is your election strategy. You know the only way you can win is to appeal to racist and homophobe hate.

Listen you dumb bitch. Get over your idea of comparing numbers to try to allege that the press is ganging up on you. Here is how news works. If you do something stupid the news will report it. If a baseball player goes deep to try to field a long ball but miscalculates and slams full speed into the wall I guarantee that every sports news show will play that clip. Does that mean they have some conspiracy against that player? No it is reality. If Palin is so dumb that people are starting to say Dan Quale wasn't that that bad tell Sarah to get with the program. Take a night off from the camera and find iraq on a map. Here is where we have a fundamental difference on how to deal with reality. The republican answer is to blast the messenger. My answer is if you are tired of the media portraying you as a dumb bimbo then stop being a bimbo and learn what you are talking about before you open your mouth. Republicans love to complain about how the media is being unfair to them but here is what you will never see. You will never ever see a republican deny that everything that is said about them is absolutely true. They will complain and whine and claim unfair but they know that as soon as they challenge a statement of fact they are gone.

Actually, Diebold is a very different company today than it was in 2004. Its CEO, Wally O'Dell (major Republican contributor), resigned in 2005 after several lawsuits alleging election fraud were filed.

At the same time, I'm still not sure voting machines can't be hacked by others, and I expect quite a bit of chicanery this time--you can see it starting already in all the purges from voter rolls in so many states.
My optimistic belief (and trust me--no one who knows me well thinks I'm an optimist) is that Obama has the lead in too many states for the Republicans to fix and get away with.-

Hey Beau. Hate to argue with your optimism but it is a proven fact that diebold machines are the easiest thing in the world to hack and the republicans think this is a great thing. I think Obama has a big enough lead but after the last 2 elections I still haven't seen the 08 republican fraud yet and am holding my breath because if they get called on it they know they win 5-4 in the supreme court

While you can never be certain, I am not worried. Besides polls there are too many other signs, of McCain's loss, like this story. Truman may have pulled off the upset in the last week but you can bet he did with a campaign that wasn't coming apart at the seams.

I have been aware for many years of how some people seem to be incapable of differentiating TV real from Real real.
They wander along in their own little universe as though it were the movie of the week and never consider that their actions have repercussion on the lives of others.
It's dissociative in the extreme but I think those who suffer from it aren't deliberate in the disconnection.
Like the movie "Mazes and Monsters"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6AOd6r6Qi8
The reaction to that movie was in itself dissociative.
What can you do?-

Palin's hubristic, diva-like sense of her own destiny and her willingness to say anything to further it is perhaps the scariest thing about her.

Yeah Palin is a whack job indeed. She has said she is against sociaism. Wow what a frigging surprise since her crappy frigging state gets a whole lot of my tax money. Money Nevada does not get back because we have to pay it to All-Asska. They get about 1.60 dollars back for every dollar they pay in federal tax. I think this might just qualify as socialism. So just WTF does this stupid frigging woman think she is talking about?
Reply
Any one that thinks Palin is "All That" must be frigging brain dead because she is trying to pull one of the worst BS stories of all time.
Sarah Palin is nothing more than a lying A-Hole that will do anything to make her political chances better.
I am sick of Gov. Palin. The people of this country should be as well. If we are not bright enough to recognize a pile of crap when we see it then we will get just what we deserve.
If we elect McPain/Failin I'll be just another US citizen that pulls the chain and gets the hell out of this failing nation. And I will be taking my money with me. So I guess Joe the Plumber won't get my business huh? If there isn't any there won't be any. This means jobs, wages and all that goes with it. Unless Joe turns intoto Jose the Plumber. But I doubt that, he's a lttle to white uptight and leans right. This was another Repub set up I'm sure. I have seen too many since Nixon. I note the fools parade we have had since Bush took office and 9/11 happened. Just look at the TSA and the Dept. of Homeland Stupidity.
If the people of this nation are frigging stupid enough to elect McCain and his idiot VP then we are done. Just wait for it. It will go in the toilet. Read the history of the fall of the Roman Empire.
I don't plan to wait. I will be very gone.-
