Why are the dumbocrat liberals fighting this fight again? It was settled years ago (the 60s and 70s) by the Supreme Court. Guess who where the ones fighting that it was free speech? The dumbocrat liberals. You can not have it both ways. As it has been said before, What you say may make my blood boil, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it. Grow up!

While I would agree with you, I believe the Palin dummy was on private property and this was on Public school property. I'm not sure the exact laws (I believe they vary state to state) on passers-by and neighbors being subjected to the Palin dummy on private property. However, having the Obama dummy in public space on a state school campus is breaking the law. This is why people get so upset when NEA grants are used for exhibitions featuring works like Andres Serrano's "**** Christ" or when public schools allow for "offensive" material. I put offensive in quotes, because what is "in good taste" is usually the benchmark. I don't believe either of these dummys are in good taste.

It's offensive in either situation, but there's a hell of a lot more history of the 'lynchings' of black men in US history than anyone white. It takes on horrificly racist overtones in one case and it's offensive in general in the other case.

Blacks have a complex that everything with a noose is meant for them.
They can call whites crackers and whitey but if whites use the N word it's the end of the world.
The double standard makes me sick-

Yep. Movies. In which hanging was typically a part of justice. As opposed to lynchings. Where hanging was the fundamental expression of injustice.
"Blacks have a complex that everything with a noose is meant for them."
For a good long time, everything with a noose WAS meant for them. Even this year there was a dragging death in the south with the black man being dragged behind the truck in a noose. You're either being intentionally ignorant, which is typical of the GOP, or are simply uneducated. -

I can always count on you to excuse racism, automan.
Reply
If you were a rational person and not a racist I could attempt to reason with you and try to explain that most of the lynchings of blacks are racially motivated, whereas for the most part the only time racially motivated lynchings of whites have occured in the past was when white abolitionists and those who supported equal rights have been lynched by KKK.
However, bigotry is not based on rational thought, so there is nothing that I can possibly say to get you to acknowledge the simple fact that lynchings were one of the main tools to enforce white supremacy. Then again, you might have no problems with white supremacy considering your comments just on the board alone. -

Cracker and whitey are certainly racist terms.
However they don't have the weight of 200+ years of slavery, abuse, murder, rape and torture behind them, as the n-word does.-

Cracker is only a racist term becuse it has been hijacked. Where and the history of why, I don't know. I've always wondered, haven't found been able to find it yet. Anyone know? I do know, originally a cracker was a Florida cowoy. It referred to the crack of the whip. cattle were in Florida 17 years before the southwest, and the first cattle men were called cow hunters.

First of all, ones right to freedom of speech does not require to be truthful or honest. If it did the vast majority of right-wingers would be banned already for lying.

Second, can you explain what distinction do you make between terrorists and those who provide them with material support?

Christian Conservatives claim that American Democrats are degenerates.

And yet ... a large portion of Christian Conservatives and Republicans curiously wind up seeking Homosexual thrills ... Tom Foley, Ted Haggerd, Jimmy Swaggert, that guy in the toilet stall ... ... ... oh ... ... ... this list could go on forever. -

Christian Conservatives will always rationalize lynching because the foundation of the American Christian Conservative Movement grew out of the collective rage against the Civil Rights Movement.
Reply
White Pentecostal Church goers ... mystified at their world being radically changed ... sought solace at their small town churches.
The preachers advocated for their flock by opposing Lyndon Johnson ... and a coalition was born ... the Republican Party and Christian Conservatives ... together ... fighting against Civil Rights, fighting against Peace in Vietnam ... and the fight goes on today.
Sure, it's the essence of Moral Vacancy ... but what would anyone expect from this merger?

You often claim that ... I don't know why.
Reply
Do you feel like if you say it, you can make it happen?
Look ... let me tell you something ... you probably don't understand this but ... you will be far better off with Obama as President.
You have been royally duped if you think otherwise.
And not only that ... if you really think things are going to change with McCain as president ... then you are smoking crack ... or you are insane.
And I define insanity as doing the same thing over and over and over and over .... always expecting a different result.
McCain is doing the same thing over again.
Get it?
Now get out there and vote for America!
Vote for Obama!-

If you needed to pass a test to vote, "FSU," I doubt you would make the cut.
Reply
If history were part of your studies at FSU, you would recall that such tests WERE once administered, and along with the imposition of a poll tax they were used to exclude blacks from the vote.
Doesn't surprise me that you would advocate a return to such practices.
Sad indeed. -

Yo Flunky. In case you didn't know, Once upon a time there was a person called Luvmyprez here on netscape. She got banned for a TOS violation. Most on the left didn't like her. Oddly enough I and a few others tried to have her reinstated. Even though she was a "Bushie" she could also be intelligent and fair minded.
Reply
You are no Luvmyprez. If I were to put my feelings for you in print I would be TOSsed so quickly you would be amazed.

I personally believe that the Right Wing Extremists on this page will say any lie, promote any division ... for the purpose of promoting chaos around the political candidate they oppose.
Reply
This is a classic political practice.
It's been done for ages.
The fact that my fellow Christian Conservatives are becoming increasingly shrill in their mock outrage ... only tells me that ... it's simply not working.
And the reason it's not working is that America can see through the BS ... and America sees Obama as a sincere, Christian, moral human ... as opposed to Johnny Shapeshifter ... who will literally say anything to get elected.

Nixie ... one of the most vicious of posters ... along with FSUgrad .... oh and aniokley .... and GLee ... oh ... and RedRiver ... oh ... and .... well .... most all of you ... say vicious, sick, degrading, morally vacant comments on a regular basis ... and when someone from the left responds in kind, ... you zero in on the respondent and demand an apology!

In fact, I would not be surprised if that wasn't why redtomato was banned ... as this member consistently said the most vile, disrespectful comments to people who were only proffering their opinion.
This then .... this .... is why America is turning Her back on you ... all you know is attack ... all you know is Fear and Smear.
Sure, it's a bona fide, Machiavellian method of winning elections ... but, when that's all you put up year after year after year ... Americans become hip to the Fundamental Moral Vacancy.
Personally, I think y'all been married to the Moral Perversion and Fundamental Hypocrisy of the Modern Republican Party so long ... you've completely lost your moral compass.

You know ... I'd like to point out to y'all that it was only 19 years ago that the last black man was lynched.
Reply
Did you hear me?
In 1989, the last recorded black man was lynched ... for being black.
Racism runs deep in this country.
The fact that none of you seem to 'get' the gravity of 'mock lynchings' only validates my point that the Modern American Christian Conservative Movement is ... at thecore ... founded upon the fight AGAINST Civil Rights in the South. I personally believe that it's an endemic suspicion ... an Intolerance for anything slightly different that binds this 'Movement' together.
Now, I know you are good people. And I know that you can't possibly be the Crazy Extremists you promote yourselves to be.
I know that if I met you face to face, I would like you and we would get along fine.... well except FSU92grad ... (I actually believe he's a little prick ... but that's just my interpretation of his insult based commentary.)
But you have to understand ... America needs to move past the blind, ignorant hatred that is the origin of the Christian Conservative Movement.
I believe that racism does at least as much harm to the racist hater as it does to the object of the racist's hatred.
And don't kid yourself .... racism has harmed our nation deeply.
You know, in France, where racism was never nearly the issue it has been in America ... blacks and whites work together.
I believe the best thing that could happen to this country is for Barack Obama to become president so that America can turn the page on the Racial Hatred and Love for War that defines the Modern American Christian Conservative Movement.
Don't you agree, in your heart of hearts, that calling yourselves Christians, and harboring such hatred, hypocrisy, and Moral Vacancy, you demean the essential message of Love that Jesus taught?
I hope you agree.
