Two bits of failed logic.
1) "most of the probably really aren't undecided"
2) "They are either going to stay home or vote preponderantly (sic) for McCain" -

This is the closest the Republicans have strayed to playing their tried and true race card. The implication is most undecideds are not willing to say they are racists and would never vote for a black candidate, but that's what they are. In the voting booth, they won't think about anything but the color of the two candidates skin.

McCain's surrogates were actually warming up the crowds in Pennsylvania with this train of thought.
We will see on Nov. 4th. -

McCain has always been a strong finisher. And Obama? He was LOSING most of the final Democratic primaries, even though the media and the DNC had annointed him the winner! No wonder Obama apologists keep talking about race as the "only" way Obama will lose -- they are preparing to guilt the country for his loss.

The Obama campaign has always tried to create an illusion of "inevitability" around his candidacy to discourage the opponent's voters. but the incredible thing to remember and to keep drawing attention to -- although Obama outspent Hillary and is outspending McCain 8 to 1 in tv ads, he is not that far ahead, even in sympathetic polls. And Hillary kept beating him in the final primaries, despite Obama's media advantage and outspending her. McCain definitely has a shot, and not because of racism, but because Obama is an unknown, a dangerous unknown. Sarah Palin is tried and true compared to him, and she's the veep candidate, not the heartbeat of the Presidency itself.

It that was the case why is Obama out campaigning as hard as ever and telling his supporters not to become complacent thinking that this election is in the bag. I get e-mails every day from the campaign reminding me that the fight isn't over.
Reply
We the voters selected Obama as our nominee. Not the party. This was supposed to be Hillary's year but we decided that we had had enough of the Clintons. Who selected McCain? Funny how he started out at the bottom and then suddenly all his competition either didn't bother to really campaign, or just dropped out of the race.
Joe Biden is the best VP pick. He is ready to go on day one. Sarah Palin has been a mayor of a small town about the size of the one I live in, so is my mayor ready to be VP? She has no grasp of the issues and her fundamentalist positions are not right for this country.
Obama is not unknown. He has been on the national scene in this campaign alone for 2 years, his opposition has picked out every thing about him they can find and put it out for all to see. A month ago you guys where claiming that he was so well known that he had celebrity status. Please make up your mind.
McCain has demonstrated in the last 8 years that he is not the man he used to be. He has voted with Bush 90% of the time and look where that has gotten this country. Everything that he has proposed is either a continuation of Bush's current policy or something that Bush has already proposed. He is nothing more than more of the same. He has demonstrated that in the way he has run his campaign. What ever happened to running a campaign based on the issues? All we ever see from McCain is attack ads some of them down right lies. Is this what we want for our country? I think not.

Well of course, this has been the purpose behind the McCain campaign.
Reply
It's a tried and true political strategy to surround an opposing candidate with chaos and uncertainty.
I think it's somewhat perverse ... but I'm not going to slam y'all for that ... I mean ... it isn't like you have a candidate in McCain that can promote anything POSITIVE from his candidacy.
He's a well known hot-head, erratic and unpredictable - (and not in a good way ... as evidenced by his choice of vice president) ... and quite frankly ... too old.
Now, I'm old too and I am not saying an old person can't do the job. But let's face it, he'll be closing in on 80 at the end of his term in office ...(should the calamitous happen and he be elected).
Does any of you actually think that Sarah Palin will be an effective, inspiring leader of this nation?
THAT, my friends .... THAT is what scares many people about John McCain.
Well ... that and the fact that he's made no claim to be a change agent from the disaster that is the Bush administration.

The reason someonwould vote for Obama?
Reply
Follow the money. Most liberals think that they are poor.
They think that they will have more money in their pocket, not because they earned it, but because Obama says that he will take it from someone else and give it to them.
It is greed.

There was a woman from Sarasota who went to see Obama in Tampa. She was interviewed there. She said she believed it was the most important day in her life. She did not have to worry about putting gas in her car or worry about paying her mortgage. If she took care of Obama then he would take care of her.

That is some of the support that Obama is getting. They are in it for a free ride. And the super compassionate liberals want to "spread the wealth around" so everybody has a bigger piece of the pie. Problem - Goose that laid the golden egg. The super liberals want to kill it to get all of that gold. -

Oh yes McCain is tried and true. He supported the administration that gave us this mess 90% of the time. We don't need more of that.
Reply
Those of you who are supporting McCain are doing so simply to oppose Obama, what does that say about your candidate?
I support Obama because I feel that he has the energy and vision to take this country into the future. I have read his book, and studied his positions and though I don't agree with all of them I feel that he is the best man for the job.

8) What happened with the Joe the Plumber story is that Obama has now been effectively outed as a liberal, not a moderate; and because liberalism is still less popular than conservatism, that’s not the best place for Obama to be.

Spreading the wealth around means the government gets bigger while everyone else gets poorer. I wonder if the rumor is true about Obama thinking he could use the courts to spread the wealth? Another scary idea from the socialist land of creepiness.

It will be close, but if McCain wins it will be bucking 108 years of history
Reply
here's what I wrote on another thread this morning:
'
'
'the party in power during an economic down period has lost the WH for over 100 years
people like their guns and bibles and fetuses, but people LOVES their money
still, with the race this close and a history of election fraud of various stripes, I don't think it's impossible for there to be an upset of that 108 year trend
But I'm still betting on Obama-why?
the only real 'October Surprise' was the economic bailout and crisis. and that played out perfectly for Obama, even tho of course many here have absolved the GOP for our economic woes.
Absolution or no absolution, the GOP's penance will be to lose the White House. W's poppa did the one term walk of shame for the same reason, and daddy's Iraq campaign was just a leetle more successful to boot...'

Not to mention that historically, the left has almost always been ahead in the polls but lost the election on November 4. Clinton is the exception.

These polls are so wrong its going to be shocking Tuesday. I fear that there will be riots. Something that Not2Needy has already made statements in support of, in another thread on Propeller yesterday.

It looks grim for Obama.
We all know his seeming intelligence, drive and organization
is only media hype. Behind that fascade of cool leadership is a frightened child from the chicago slums.
But the charade will end Nov. 5th,
when a whole nation that has cleverly hid from the pollsters,
will elect John S. McCain as President!
America's soccer moms and nascar dads will march in the streets singing, with a vindicated Bush and Cheney passing out flags and guns to all!
- while liberals in pink leotards will drop their Obama signs in despair, and slink away into the dark of defeat.
Ok, that was fun to say.
But back to reality.

Every presidential election cycle the democrats send out a letter to old people telling them that the republican candidate is going to cut their social security in half if elected. I got mine yesterday on Halloween. It takes a mean minded person to torment and abuse old folks, dogs and children.

Unlike the Repugnant Cons who try to disenfranchise voters by commiting crimes such as mailings that say democratic voters will be voting on the 5th, or other such criminal acts saying that someone is no longer registered to vote, even though they are.

The mailings by the republicans and the McCain campaign have been many times uglier and more inaccurate than anything that OBama has sent out. When even Karl Rove says that some of your lies are beyond acceptable you know that things are really nasty.

McCain doesn't have a plan for SS at all. At one time or another, he has been:
Reply
For partial privatization.
For personal savings accounts.
Against tax increase.
For tax increase. (Or at least 'everything is on the table')
Against using the trust fund for anything other that SS.
FOR using the trust fund to cover a tax break.
The ARA has given McCain a 40% rating. Not good.
"John McCain fully embraces President Bush’s plan to privatize Social Security, having voted three times to take money out of the Social Security Trust Fund and create private accounts tied to the roulette wheel of the stock market. "

People have short memories. They already forgot about Bush's war which isn't even paid for. If the people can forget a few more things and focus on what Obama says about raising taxes McCain might just win. And if that heppens then people will have the economy they deserve but maybe not the econmy they want.

McCain will win by a slim margin and it will cause race riots in the inner cities of the Nation, because we have all been brainwashed to think he is going to win. When he dosent his people are going to riot and lets face it 97% of African Americans are for him while making up only 12.9% of the population Whites make up 78% but only 25% are for him. Do the math. McPalin 2008

Not all ... but many of the older ones who fought against the Civil Rights movement in the 60's.
Still bitter at how the Democrats in general, and LBJ in particular - forced integration on them - they have been envisioning a resultant calamitous conflagration for decades now.
Of course, I've been accused in the past of generalizations. So let me go on record here that I do not believe that ALL Christian Conservatives are racist like face61, but they do represent a sizable percentage of the older generation.
The younger Christian Conservatives, having lived and worked with blacks, gays, muslims, etc, are more tolerant, accepting, and loving.

I think the dynamic of this election is that
The democratic voters are going out TO vote for Obama
were as the McCain voters are not really voting for McCain, they are just voting against Obama. As for me, I cannot vote for Obama and I cannot in good conscience vote for McCain, I will either vote for Barr or write in None of the Above.-

I agree. Many of those voting for McCain are really voting against Obama. I know I half-way am. Of the major Republicans in the primary this past January, MaCain was tied as my 5th choice. But I still consider him a better choice than most on the Democrat side. However, had McCain picked Joe Lieberman or someone like him for V.P. running mate, I would have seriously considered skipping this election, and I've voted in all 8 presidential elections since I turned 18 and was LEGALLY able to do so. But when he selected Palin, my confidence in McCain went up.

As I sit and watch the fall of America from abroad I can hear the Russians, Europeans and Islamic world cheering. What a sad day in the American history and what a sad election. A liberal media who has covered up info on the most liberal senitor in history. Americans who cover their eyes to Obamas radical contacts be it Rev. Wright, an American terrorist or a PLO spokesman. Who ignores him praising the likes of Farrakann and attends dinners where anti semetic slurs are praised. Who will raise taxes on most of those working to give out to those who choose not to work. Who will decrease financial support for those serving to defend our nation.

A man who has recieved along with his vp running mate the largest amout of donations from Fan.May in a time where these and other top banks have helped to ruin our economy. Do you really think he is going to go after them.
A man when millions are indangering the US internally financially by being here and comming here illeagal has family members himself illegally living here.
A man who could not make a decission on a vote over half the time he served in the senate.
A man who will put more government in every aspect of your life and remove admendment rights.

When we allready hit an economic down fall with bush and how in world you think john macain can make it better by comtinuing a war based on revenge and not truth. I was under the understand that we were looking for Ben Laden but that may not be the case. Are you really ready to spend eight more years in proverty , joblessness and with a war going on that is taking from our stuggling economy. I dont know about you but I am not prepared to let Mccain who supported Bushes policies over 90% of the time run this country that I love in the ground. We cant efford another eight years of Bushes policies. McCaine cant tell me how he is going help me keep my house and pay for my basic needs. we gave the republican party eight years to help this country Now its time for a change in Washington. and the change will start with OBama who is for the people and will be elected by the people.

Reagan was elected and the liberal kids on my college campus were tearing their hair out, having "Goodbye America" parties and such. And yet, here we all still are.
Clinton got elected and all I was hearing from the right was we were doomed, DOOMED! And yet, here we stand.
Bush was the end, yet here we stand.
The Democrats taking back the Senate was the end, yet here we stand.
In the 1930's our economy collapsed completely, in a way that makes the current troubles look like a walk in the park on a sunny Sunday, yet here we stand.
Our capital was burned to the ground in the War of 1812, yet here we stand.
Our Pacific fleet was destroyed on a dark day in 1941, yet here we stand.
We were embroiled in a decades long conflict with the Soviet Union who claimed they would "bury us", yet here we stand.
The World Trade Center collapsed, victim of the latest enemy who thinks, as do you, that we can be brought to our knees and utterly destroyed. We stand.
We fought each other, brother against brother, for five long blood-soaked years while Europeans stood on the sidelines praying our great nation would be forever split, but we did not split, we stand.
You have no faith in the strength of this magnificent country. For over two hundred years we stand and yet you think one man can bring our country down. What foolishness. The Founders were wise and developed a sturdy and flexible form of government, splitting the power among three branches so no one man can do what you so direly predict.
Gather yourself and repeat after me "America is resilient. It will weather any storm from without or within. The exercise of democracy will NEVER be the end of America. The exercise of democracy is our great STRENGTH and our gift to the wider world." -
